My fiancé and I went riding the other night and it was absolutely amazing. We rode for what felt like forever and we went all over the place without a single problem with the bikes. Therefore, a few nights after we decided to go riding again. Big mistake. Within three seconds of taking off from the bike rack, my fiancé’s bike just turns itself off and stops working. Keep in mind we both checked the battery life of both of our bikes before we unlocked them and they weren’t dead. We decided to turn around and he would just get a different bike since we hadn’t gone very far. However, soon after we took off his bike turned itself off again. He had to lock it and unlock it again right there to get it to work again. It kept doing that about three more times all the way back to the house we were staying at. Mine also turned itself off about halfway there and I had to lock it and unlock it again to get it to work. It charged us a $5 fine every time we had to lock and unlock it again, since we weren’t in a parking zone for the bikes. The customer service person told us it was because we rode near a restricted area, even though we rode the same path a couple days before without any problems. Even after saying we are on vacation and leave in the morning, the only compensation we got was $10 in credit for rides of which we can’t use because we leave tomorrow. Our first experience was awesome but every experience after was a nightmare.

Never have I ever had a more miserable, infuriating, inconvenient, and inconsistent experience than I’ve had with Gotcha. You basically flip a coin on whether the bikes / scooters are going to work. GotchaTechnologies has a plethora of performance issues. Have you arrived at a designated Gotcha parking location and wish to end your ride? Good luck! According to GotchaTechnologies , which actually shows your exact location within the parking spot, you’re in a restricted area, and must pay a fine of $5 unless you move it to the correct spot (which you are, in fact, already in). Maybe that’s not the issue though, sometimes it just simply fails to end the ride, and you’re stuck there trying to figure out what to do (better hope you don’t need to be somewhere by a certain time). Sometimes scanning a scooter / bike shows an “N/A” for the battery level, so you get to gamble on how much is left!

Anyway you probably get the idea, but I promise you, I COULD go on. Genuinely just a waste of time. The worst of it really is that sometimes it DOES work and gives you a false sense of hope that’ll keep you coming back to Gotcha, but it’s really best just to let go and figure out a better means of transportation. Or just walk honestly.

My girlfriend rode the bike for a few minutes to another location. She parked the bike. GotchaTechnologies dismissed the ride and showed it wasn’t active. She went back into GotchaTechnologies to check. It wasn't there. A week later she finds out the trip was charged as something like 58 mins and not the 8 min ride she did. It totaled out to something like 38 bucks instead of 5 bucks i think. We tried customer service to get a refund. They were not helpful at all. Even slightly rude and unfriendly. No help whatsoever. For this company you must end the ride in GotchaTechnologies . Otherwise if you just lock the bike , GotchaTechnologies will close the ride where u cant see it but still keep the clock running. They get paid and you get screwed. The bikes are fun, but the company does not clarify the ending ride procedures enough where if you do it wrong, then you get charged. No refund. No help. All legal. Its very bad business practice. This could be fixed in GotchaTechnologies or putting instructions on the bike.
Me and my girlfriend do not use these bikes anymore. The customer service experience was that awful.

Ever since bolt bought out Gotcha or whatever, GotchaTechnologies has been terribly unresponsive on Apple. Like I can't even open GotchaTechnologies without it immediately freezing. When I break through the freezing, i can't scan the bike. When I finally scan the bike, it freezes again! Sometimes you get lucky opening GotchaTechnologies and it doesn't freeze, but when that usually happens GotchaTechnologies lies and says there are no active bikes on the network. Literally none of these problems were here before the bolt trash, and I didn't even mention how many of the bikes just didn't work at all when bolt was first introduced. I'm willing to change the review, but GotchaTechnologies desperately needs to improve. I love these bikes, but truth is, this is a broken system at the moment.

The more I think about this the more I think it might be a racket. We had two bikes, both of them quit peddle assist after about 20 minutes. We turned around and had to peddle these pieces of garbage all the way back to the rack. Works out pretty good for the company since these thing take twice as long to get back when there is no peddle assist and they charge by the minute. $$ racket that maybe someone should look into. Customer service said we hit a “slow zone” but that doesn’t explain why the peddle assist worked on the way out but not the way back (same area). Forwarding this information to the city of Burlington, state of Vermont, and the FTC. We hope that anyone else with this issue does the same.

The lime scooter I never had a problem with. Now This company took about $70 instead of saying I rode 2x it’s saying I rode 4x. I requested a refund because I had no clue the automatic keep going service would take $10 back to back y’all need to do better with explaining tht rather than trying to just take money. I WILL NEVER AGAIN USE YALL! You take money and I better get my refund! For the other 2 rides. Also GotchaTechnologies kept freezing and never used my $10 I put up there. I opened and closed GotchaTechnologies serval times. When I scanned scooters y’all took money from me to unlock and is didn’t even work. GotchaTechnologies crashed multiple times. Recommend using the green scooter. They don’t just take money from you like GotchaTechnologies did. I BETTER GET MY $41 back at least!

I want to love GotchaTechnologies but given how many bikes are broken in one way or another you are almost guaranteed to have a negative experience. Every day this week that I’ve unlocked a bike I’ve had to file a support ticket because some aspect of the bike wasn’t working. The gears won’t shift, the assist won’t work, the seat won’t stay in place. I had a ride where one of the pedals literally fell off halfway through. The support isn’t much help either. No matter how many requests I put in to have the bikes repaired the number of non functional bikes only seems to increase. If the bikes actually worked I would love this service, but when half the bikes in the rack don’t work I just can’t recommend it.

I was just in Vermont for a few days but really wanted to ride a bike on the river front. This location was close so I got my ride in, saw some sights and took some pictures and videos. It was fantastic. I am sure a subscription would be more cost effective but it certainly served my purposes for today. I will look for locations along my next few vacation stops to see if I can take advantage of this oppressive again.

Ride was good brakes a little bit too strong so you have to press on it very lightly so you don’t go flying off. Trying to get my refund for the first scooter because it wasn’t working and I got charged

Ride was of good quality. Battery depleted roughly 20% over 11 minutes and immediately shut off once I passed the end of the accepted area. I planned to ride to the edge of campus but due to a map that was not predisclosed to a new rider, I was unable to complete my journey abs had to call an Uber while sitting under a streetlight in an area that I am unfamiliar with. The ride itself was great up until this point.

The bikes are so unpredictable. If the battery of the bike goes out then it’s extremely hard to pedal, then you have to get it back to a station which could be miles away. Our bikes just stopped out of no where and it was very hard to get them back to the station that was only less than a mile away. Again if the battery goes out it is super hard to move with it. As I said you will never know when it’s about to go out. Very unpredictable.

Didn’t realize that after I locked the bike back up that I needed to also go to GotchaTechnologies to stop the timer. I was charged for longer than I rode and it was very expensive. Also, it asks you to take a picture of the bike after you’ve locked it up. I didn’t even look at my app until I was driving home in my car and the timer was still on and I had to turn around to take a pic of the bike. None of this was clear.

I downloaded GotchaTechnologies when I came across bikes lined up while me and my wife were on vacation. After downloading I put 10$ in to scan and use a bike. NONE OF THEM WORKED. After the vacation was over I went to get my 10$ out of GotchaTechnologies and found that I couldn’t. I messaged the employees and requested they do this for me. They said they would but it still has been 5 days since and they haven’t given me my money back. DONT USE GotchaTechnologies!

The account cannot be deleted once you have created it. Your personal information remains with Gotcha. After few emails back and forth with customer service, I was told the only thing that can be done is “restrict account” and “ban you from renting scooters” but your account cannot be deleted including your personal information such as phone number and email.

I rented bikes with three friends. After about 10 minutes of biking, the electric boost ended mid-ride with zero warning on all of our bikes and we were required to “unlock” the bikes and pay the unlocking fee again. The bikes are very heavy and not easy to ride without the electric boost, especially if you are riding anywhere with hills. It was an incredibly terrible experience. Will never use again and do not recommend to anyone.

These apps are amazing when traveling without a car rental. Simple to use, pay a few bucks and get to where you have to go

My girlfriend’s bike had a loose pedal and her wheel was dragging on the front bumper thingy. Other than that it was really fun! App is easy to use and the bikes themselves were a joy to pilot. Thank you Gotcha!

I downloaded the Bolt app at first as the signage is confusing. Maybe a clear image of the Gotcha app on future outreach would be helpful to dumbies like me. Like the bike!

Great ride and easy to use. I like gotcha because their bikes are always there when I go to the library.

So fun! You have to give it a good push off before the electric kicks in. Definitely stick to the street for a smoother ride.

Scooters are durable and smooth. App easily downloaded. App functionality easy to use.

GotchaTechnologies has been nothing but a disappointment. The geography is a far cry from accurate. Half of the scooters don’t unlock even when numbers are matched, and the manual entry has a major OCR issue, I’d imagine due to the lack of G capability and accountability on the back end. I’m truly disappointed that Raleigh chose this company to replace the reliable lime. I hope these are introductory “kinks” that can be worked out. As this city, one of the top growing tech cities in the country, will never support something so unreliable.

Love unlocking several scooters at one time to bring friends with me

Last 4 scooters I tried to use either didn’t work at all when scanned or didn’t even scan. Credit to them for refunding issues but still the scooters don’t work. A scooter company that can’t be trusted to have working scooters shouldn’t be trusted with your card info.

Qr scanner refuses to scan. Codes refuse to work when typed in. Can’t even report a problem on GotchaTechnologies itself. Tried 5 different scooters none of which I could get to work because of the scanning issue.

QR scanner never scans the codes right, I have attempted to use GotchaTechnologies multiple times on different scooters and I have only gotten it to work successfully twice. There is a major issue with the QR scanner that needs to be fixed.

Will not allow me to rent a scooter even though I’ve downloaded GotchaTechnologies , tried nearby and tried to scan, it will not activate. Don’t waste time, try another provider.
