Amazing yet deceitful.

I love Torch so much. I was getting bored with runs and Torch renewed my love and brought my time up SO much. I also love that I get credit for walking a lot throughout the day. It’s cool to see how many miles I walk at work.

What is truly heartbreaking is that you are not actually racing anyone but yourself. Hey it’s still worth it, but it lets you add real life friends, but it doesn’t actually have you race them. That made me very sad. We were trying to go together (same time, different location) when we realized it’s totally fake. That makes me sad, but I also realize it means you’re only racing yourself and THAT is how my time improved so quickly. I wish I never found out it was a lie.

Love this app

I've been a long time runner but have been out of the saddle for a while. Torch has helped me finally get back on track! The competition is very motivating (more than I would have expected) and the coaching keeps it entertaining. I feel great when I win a race and feel just the right amount of bad when I don't... Easy to use so you don't waste time loading or planning when you could be running. Definitely recommend.

Fun idea but the voice is annoying

I like the idea and the function of Torch for the most part but I can’t use it anymore because the voice prompts are obnoxiously loud and way too numerous. Please add a way in Torch to turn off the voice prompts. They are way louder than my music, and hurt my ears. Also I don’t need to hear when I’m in the lead or loss the lead or 3 reminders that a increase is coming up it’s so annoying. If it was just a quick reminder each time the effort changed and when the battle was done that would be fine but there are way too many right now

I’ve been waiting for this!

Not sure when the last time I felt motivated. I love competing with other people because it motivates me to be fit for my almost a year old baby. This is the only app I know that is different from any I’ve ever used. Love the music and love the coaching. I use it everyday and now am part of the leaderboards. Highly recommend.

Disappointing

Torch seems like a fun concept and I was looking forward to participating with my husband, but unfortunately I can’t participate because I’m too fat??!! I entered my height and weight and Torch stated I needed to select “more realistic values.” I tried entering one pound less on my weight, thinking the auto fill from my apple health may have messed it up but it continued to say my values were unrealistic. I lowered my weight one hundred pounds and it let me register. I guess that fat people can’t run or walk in this app’s eyes. By the way, I do run and I am active... this needs to be fixed.

Love this app

After having an issue getting started with the game the developer and I emailed a few times they got the issue resolved. Their response time was amazing and very helpful and now my son and I are enjoying Torch very much.

Fun virtual race! 🏃‍♂️

Very engaging! You get matched to someone who runs at your level and the race is on. I don’t consider myself a runner, but I’ll be back tomorrow for another run — I haven’t pushed myself like that in a very long time.

Love this app

I love iPhone games and I love how Torch has brought that same fun and competitive spirit to my weekly runs. And it’s free! Highly recommend.

Great concept but seems flawed

I love the concept of Torch but seems to be a bad fit if your planning on running fast. Every time I run a race at low effort I seem to get penalized for not slowing down. I ran my fastest race with this app today and received my lowest score to date and lost by my biggest gap, nearly 90.

Can’t use it.

Despite the information on Torch says that it works with my phone, and that it just needs IOS 11.0 to work(and my phone has 13.3.3) when I go to open Torch it says my device is not compatible. I was really interested in using Torch but I guess I can’t.

Motivates and fun

Torch has you run a virtual race against someone else who is more or less the same level runner as you are. The races are 25 minutes (at least on the first 4 levels) and have you run on low, medium or high effort for varying lengths of time. During the race, there is frequent information over the headset (or speaker) on how your score is against your opponent’s, who leads and by how much. The races finish with a 1-2 minute dash after which you learn if you won. Even if you don’t win that race, the score you gathered is added to your total and once you gathered enough points and enough wins, you level up.

I don’t know if the opponents are real or not and honestly, I don’t care. I enjoy these races, that Heidi who was leading to the very end suddenly fell behind in the last two minutes, or (sigh) when Frank took the well earned win after leading for most of our race. Good game, Frank.

It’s fun.

Also, for many years I was running with the same speed. You could set you clock to me: each kilometer in 7:30. I wanted to break out of that and with Torch, I run 6:30kms (of course I’m pretty tired afterwards. I hope over time it gets better).

The support team is responsive (I sent them a few observations and the reply came within two days).
The definition of low, medium and high effort is somewhat vague. You are being told that during medium effort you can carry a conversation with gasping for air, while on high effort you can’t even talk, and that’s it. It’s a good guidance at least and for more accuracy there are watches that measure your pulse for example.
The in-game music is pretty basic, but it can be turned off to listen to your own.
The after-race results aren’t very detailed (I use my watch and its app for these instead).

Doesn’t work on my device

In Torch requirements says specifically that it works on my device however after download and try opening it, it says that my device is not supported.
You really got my expectations super duper high just to say in the end “sorry, but no”.
Such a bummer.

Fake Races

Did a race. I didn’t even move just to see. And guess what. I still won the race by barely moving.

Lacking

Never updates. Voice annoying. Idea ok but if they are t going todo anything with it, it stinks.

Device not supported

I have an iPhone 7 and when I run Torch it says s device not supported with the current screen resolution.

Need to update supported apps

I love my VI headphones and wanted to give Torch a try. App Store say this is supported on my SE. But once I opened Torch I got a warning that Torch does not support phones with my resolution.

Doesn’t work

Every time I open Torch it says the resolution is not supported. It’s disappointing because it looks really good.
