Good Application

This is a really good app that reads words allowed. I’m using the application to read PDF books. It is working very well. It does a good job of reading books that may have two columns on one page with tables, charts and graphs. It does a good job of reading the left column of words first and then the right column of words. It will read the charts and graphs also, so if you don’t want that read, all you have to do is press on the next section you want read. Its a life saver. Also, it works in multi task mode, so you can have PDF reader pulled up, highlighting within your PDF file and making notes while VoiceAloudReader is reading to you (e.g. left side of screen has the voice app reading and the right side has the actual PDF book open) One other application I tried would not allow this, which was odd. For only about $8, I say this application is a bargain. I’ve already used the application to read hours of text to me. It is definitely saving me some eye strain. Word pronunciation is pretty decent, but I would follow along as the text reads to you, just Incase the reader pronounces some words awkwardly. Overall, a really good application.

Incredible so far!

I was using Speechify before I found VoiceAloudReader and I thought it was great, even though it had some problems. Many of those problems, that I thought were minor annoyances at the time, actually made it so that I couldn’t justify buying a premium subscription. I haven’t had any of those problems here.

VoiceAloudReader can be used in split screen, can play in the background while I take notes in a different app, works incredibly well with pdfs, even big ones (although gets easily thrown off by tables and graphs), and that has made it everything I couldn’t rely on Speechify for.

That being said, I do have a suggestion. The developers could provide more options for speed, because it seems that there is a big market for that, and I’m also starting to feel like 2x is still too slow.

Needs some attention, but good

Love the one time purchase, absolutely worth it as a college student. The only problem I have with it is when it adds extra characters to the start of each page. Most of the time, whenever the page is turned, the program will add and read aloud “a” and/or “-“ two to four times before starting on what the page actually says. As far as I can tell, there isn’t a way to edit this out of the page, though you are able to view the extra “a”s and “-“s in the contents menu of your book. If you’re anything like the average reader, this makes it kinda hard to follow the meaning of the sentence across the page turn when there’s a four to five second break with the voice repeating “a a hyphen hyphen a hyphen.” If you don’t mind it though, it’s a great app and much closer to five stars.

In love with Arthur! 💕

So it obviously has some kinks - like restarting from the beginning of a document, which can be really frustrating if it is something extremely long. I wish there was a bookmarking feature.

BUT! I tried Speechify thinking okay, this is fancy with stats etc. However, the way the voice has to sync via internet (which isn't super good where I work) makes for a really unenjoyable listen.

Arthur, my sweet darling love is by far the best voice to read to me ever. Even compared to the specify premium voices. I love it so much! I couldn't even begin to count the hours I use VoiceAloudReader, which is nearly all day every day! Aside from the re-starting and lack of bookmarking, VoiceAloudReader is wonderful!!

This is for all people

Hi if you’re looking for an application that can read to you. This is the one I have dyslexia which is a reading disability this application allows me to take a picture of whatever I would like to read, and it would read it to me. No longer will I have to ask someone can read this for me no longer the embarrassment of going to a restaurant and not knowing what the menu will say. This application is so user-friendlyIt’s ridiculous. From the beginning to the end I have modified this application to work for me as a police officer. As a student in school. When I’m going out with my friends or my significant love ones. This application will change your life it would actually make you more independent than you usually are no more asking people for help get this application and change your life today.

Fantastic so far!

I am a Doctoral student with ADD and Dyslexia, with a heavy reading workload. This has been a Godsend! I was originally looking at the other app in this field(speechify) but they are charging over $100! VoiceAloudReader only charges $8.99 and it essentially does the same thing. I added more pages for $1.99 so now I have 1,800 pages for less than $12 bucks, and when I need more pages I pay another $1.99…GREAT DEAL and it also does exactly what it promises…I take pics of my texts books and then it reads out loud-Perfect! Also it does websites too, quite easily! Just copy and paste the url-thats it.

Thank you so much for VoiceAloudReader, and making it affordable so everyone with a learning disability now has a chance to “read” a book like everyone else!

Useful but with a ton of ads

This is a simple read aloud AP. The main thing I don’t like about it is the Advertisements which turn on every two or five minutes of reading. The Ap will not allow you to continue using the Ap unless you watch the entire advertisement. Some of these advertisements can be lengthy. If you shut down the Ap when it prompts you to watch an advertisement to continue then the Ap will prompt you to watch the advertisement to continue. It doesn’t automatically play advertisements. You have to select play advertisement to continue the read aloud function of the Ap.

The other thing I don’t like about the Ap is the “begin reading here” function. The Ap will begin reading from the place you point but the chances of getting the first sentence correct is not 100 percent. The Ap will read a sentence: “Jack went up the hill,” as “J a c k went up the hill”.

Does the job

Overall decent. Couple of basic quality of life changes. The rate needs to increase in increments of .1 not.5. I don’t know who could ever understand something at a rate of 5.

Second the Web reader needs two basic features. Zoom and search text. Zoom for the oddly small font and search text for long documents so that you don’t have to search manually when telling it to play from here.

Otherwise I’m quite pleased it loads the body content quite well and plays it just fine.

Amazing App - just needs one update

VoiceAloudReader is honestly great. I highly recommend it because it can read anything doc with no problem. It’s perfect for supplementing books that are not available in audio format.

With that said, my only recommendation / request is that the developers add a rewind 15 seconds options so you can easily listen to content that you might have missed. VoiceAloudReader currently makes it difficult to rewind a few seconds because it’ll start reading at the beginning of a page or sometimes random paragraph.

Just a little critique, but I still highly recommend!

Lots of potential, small issues

With some tweaks this could be a go-to app but a couple of issues limit it to 3 stars for me.

1. There isn’t a share feature from other apps. The primary thing that I want to do is read from web pages and to do so I have to manually copy urls from a browser and paste them into VoiceAloudReader. Extra and unnecessary steps but not a deal breaker since it does perform well.
2. If you are reading something lengthy that you won’t be able to finish in one session, you better hope you remember where you stopped because chances are you will have nothing but a blank screen when you try to return to VoiceAloudReader . Definitely need a way to save what you are reading to be able to return to it (and also the option to discard when done).
3. Keeping links active once a page is processed for reading would be very helpful for multi page articles. You do have the option to return to a version of the original page but again, extra and unnecessary step.
4. Include an option to “edit” the pronunciation of words and this could easily become a 5 star app.

Looking forward to future updates.

If your not willing to go premium, it’s scummy…

VoiceAloudReader is great! Everything works as should. But if your planning to stay free to use, have fun. I don’t know the specific amount of time but if you don’t go premium VoiceAloudReader will go, “you’ve reach your free reading limit.” So you either pay premium or watch an ad, and that just loops. Hoping to take screenshots and read it out loud to you? Sorry… you can only take 15 photos….. but hey— if you Just buy the premium version and you can take unlimited! Those are the only other tools I used before uninstalling so idk if there’s anything else but still. If your maybe a student or someone who just needs it here or just not willing to pay in general don’t get VoiceAloudReader. Sadly idk what other app would be better.

Free version

I’m unable to purchase the paid version. I don’t mind ads if a program is reasonable and we’ll done. This program is excellent in most ways. Ads are to the point it seems a pain. Understand that I will watch many more ads on any program if I enjoy using it. Thirty minute wait rather than an ad option? That’s a dealbreaker. Kind of like changing channel on a station and never going back. The paid version may be wonderful but if the free version gets frustrating, why would I trust the paid version? Maybe if I can afford it someday I’ll try it. But probably not because I’m not using it much. Once it puts me on 30 minute wait I leave.

Okay

VoiceAloudReader for the most part is okay. It mostly does what it’s supposed to do such as read PDFs for a onetime purchase. However I have lots of PDFs and wish there was a search bar or an alphabetical search so I can get to the right PDF without spending 5 minutes scrolling. It also crashes occasionally so you have to go back and find where you were before. Or if you finish the PDF you have to scroll to the top instead of a shortcut that takes you to the first page. Overall it works pretty well and lets you control how fast it reads as well as some vocal options. I still like it just some features I wish this had.

App has some great functions but serious drawbacks

I like the fact that it continues playback even when you unplug headphones, and then ‘play from here’ and ‘previous position’ buttons are great too. I also like the clipboard read and website read as well as the versatility to read all formats.

However it will jump around a lot. This is a serious problem for regular readers; if you are in the middle of chapter 6 it might jump back to chapter 2 randomly and you won’t notice until the text starts to sound familiar. This problem will repeat over and over again in certain texts.

Exactly what I needed

Ok, VoiceAloudReader is AMAZING!! I had some pretty dry content to read for my nursing continuing education so I wanted an app to scan and read the material to me. Not only did it do just that, I was able to keep engaged more than I would have without it. I finished 16 hours of content in a 24 hour period! Highly highly recommend since distraction is my main issue. This kept me right in track! Best part is, it only cost $8.99 for 800 scans (pages). You can also buy more pages for dirt cheap (like $1)

There’s a little issue…

Overall VoiceAloudReader is great and better when it comes to prices, but there is an issue when uploading a Google Doc that has a Title and Subheading. For some reason it only reads the title and like half of the subheading and then it skips down the page. I tried everything and it still does it. I shouldn’t have to edit my file the voice should just read every single word.

Does what I need it to

For the most part I’m happy with VoiceAloudReader, I got it after iOS removed the part of the text to speech feature that allowed iBooks to read books to you. I enjoy listening to books while I work, and VoiceAloudReader allows me to listen to one’s I download from the web. My biggest complaint about VoiceAloudReader is that it can’t access the iBooks library, so the hundreds of titles I have there I can’t listen to. Should the developer add a plugin to VoiceAloudReader to access the iBooks library, I will likely increase my rating.

Such a great app!

If you struggle with reading and you are in college taking a course that has your face stuck in a book VoiceAloudReader can really help work in your favor! it’s not perfect but it comes close. even if you don’t know if you like VoiceAloudReader it gives you a free trial no pay no credit card info nothing, you try it you like it you keep it and if not then delete but it’s a great tool if you have chapters and chapters to get through in a short time.

Works really well but...

VoiceAloudReader works really well! If there was any suggestions I’d make it would be to allow ppl to add a photo as the cover and not just a title. It would also be nice if we could rename the title after we’ve named it. Another thing is a variety of voices maybe. Other than that VoiceAloudReader does a great job of actually reading the text off of pictures. Really great app!

It is just ok

I can’t read the clipboard anymore. It has been one or two months since I bought it and one week ago doesn’t load the clipboard anymore. I uninstalled it and nothing. There is no way to fix it and there is no support to at least troubleshooting.

I can’t delete books from the library. The reading speed goes up to 2x. I mean. It reads to you but it is very limited.

I need to find an app that reads faster and let me use the clipboard. I bought it because I needed to save time with this feature and I can’t use it anymore.

Great features

I'm in the process of comparing voice aloud pdf reader apps and find this one has better compatibilities than some more expensive alternatives. What I particularly like is that VoiceAloudReader uses the enhanced voices apple writes, ability to browse pdf's on my phone and the ability to change the pace of the reading. I also like the fact that I can open a locked pdf without a problem. A feature I would like to see added is a longer pause prompted by a period at the end of a sentence. Im still shopping around at this point but VoiceAloudReader is at the top of my list so far.

An app with huge potential

I’ve been looking for an app to scan and read my college text books. Each book is 600+ pages, VoiceAloudReader will save me from the nightmare of reading multiple books. I have one huge dislike that prevents me from using VoiceAloudReader. One of my text books is divided into two columns. The left column must be read first then the right column. The voice reader will jump around the page making it difficult to understand anything. Please adjust the voice reader to be compatible with different types of books.

Cool app

I've always loved VoiceAloudReader because it is WAY more affordable (and versatile), but it just got even better with the most recent update. The ability to intelligently skip margin notes until the end of page is just what VoiceAloudReader needed to go from amazing to practically perfect. Thanks!!!

Amazing App

I find VoiceAloudReader to be really amazing. Since I drive a lot is important for me to be able to read while I’m driving. There are so many languages to choose from. And different voices. Some are kind of lame but you can take your pick at least.

By

Pretty cool app

I’ve tried another that cost 140$ a year but VoiceAloudReader you can pay as you use it or watch videos to get more time to have things read to you. Overall I like it. Might just pay the $7.99 for uninterrupted reading.

My teacher is crazy.

My art history teacher assigns us walls of text to read for homework, never speaks about it in class, then throws it on exams. VoiceAloudReader lets me absorb the info while I’m doing dishes and cooking so I don’t feel like I walked into the wrong class on exam days. And it’s FREE lol thanks

good but still missing vietnamese language

No Editing Capability

Once you’ve taken a picture of a document there is no way to correct the text boxes. If the page is even slightly curved, the text boxes do not populate properly. This leads to the voice skipping around the page and not reading full sentences. This wouldn’t be an issue if there was a way to correct where the text boxes are.
