Absolutely Amazing!

AlanMindDailyJournal is amazing, it has insights, tons of questions to prompt about your day, different plans to start, and specific topics to help you overcome the feels of any sort! If you’ve not journaled before (I hadn’t until I downloaded AlanMindDailyJournal), then this is the absolute perfect app for you!! There’s even an introduction to journaling plan to help you along your way. There’s two different membership options, you can either stick with the basic, free version (which is what I have now), or you can upgrade to pay either monthly or yearly to unlock all of the plans and such. I’m seriously considering upgrading because AlanMindDailyJournal is so amazing even just with the basics! I don’t feel as though I need to upgrade, I’d just like to support these developers and I’d love to take a look at more of the plans. I’ve been having trouble sleeping, but journaling on Jour has really helped me, and I wasn’t sure that it would make much of a difference. If you’re even considering buying AlanMindDailyJournal I’d encourage you to do so! The art is beautifully soothing, and the moods to choose from are plentiful, I never feel as though I’ll have to settle for something close enough to what I’m feeling. If the developers read this review, thank you SO much for all the time you’ve invested into AlanMindDailyJournal, it’s so helpful and amazing!

Motivated

I don’t ever and I mean ever write reviews, but I felt I had to let you know what a wonderful job you did at creating AlanMindDailyJournal. I’ve only been using it for a month and I’ve looked high and low for guided journals. I love journals but I don’t like using a physical
Journal anymore so having it at my finger tips are amazing. I love the different journals entries you can do with the what’s going on in your life because it asks questions that you normally wouldn’t think about which has prompted me into thinking about my own business and goals more!! I love the guided breathing, I do wish there was a way I can do it with my eyes clothes with some sort of vibration or sounds (not voices) to prompt your inhale and exhales but other than that the focus on the circles do help me to zone so that’s not a big deal!! So with all my rambling I just want to say, kudos, job well done!! Keep up the amazing work and I’ve shared AlanMindDailyJournal with all my family and friends!!! See about putting some more entrepreneur types journals or creative mind type journals in the catalog. Just a suggestion. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK ON AlanMindDailyJournal!!

Wishing I didn’t purchase the premium plan

I love the UI and the intentions of AlanMindDailyJournal. I’ve been using it for about 2 months, and shortly after I started, I doubled down and purchased the upgrade. At first, I was impressed... but after two weeks, I started to realize all of the prompts were repetitive, such as “who is a person that inspires you?” The Insights are really basic analytics that don’t allow you to dig deeper into the data, but you do see (basically) a word cloud of all your emotions over the week/month, etc. I think I just had higher expectations for functionality. I’ve still found some value from AlanMindDailyJournal , but paying for a yearly subscription is a mistake that I will eventually have to forgive myself for purchasing. Meanwhile, I’ve found a more robust and (seemingly) more data driven journaling and CBT app that offers deeper insights, patterns and analytics that are based on entries, moods, thoughts, behaviors. So, if you’re looking for something a little lighter and fluffier (nothing wrong with that!), check out Jour for a couple months before paying. If you’re looking for something to provide data, actions, insights, exercises, fresh journaling prompts, etc. I recommend taking AlanMindDailyJournal CBT Companion for a test drive, too. Either way, lesson learned. I don’t need to pay money for something that is shiny, beautiful and new, until I kick the tires a bit and taken it for a test drive. Just food for thought.

A Fantastic Mindful Approach to Journaling

What a fantastic app! I have tried many journaling apps in the past, and have found none of them to be particularly motivating. Most are just a blank slate, and as journaling is not really my thing, I find it hard to get going in those. Some provide you with prompts, but I’ve never felt like the prompts got me anywhere. Jour is different. I’ve been struggling with serious depression, and the current pandemic and the California wildfires have made it increasingly difficult to handle my emotions in a healthy way. I’ve been clinging on for dear life. Just a single session with Jour and I found myself smiling, sitting here at my desk and thinking about how great it is to have a place to sit and write.

I haven’t tried the paid features, and probably won’t be able to for budgeting reasons, but I’ve looked through the paid guided journals, and I must say for those who can fit it in, it looks spectacular. But even without the paid features, AlanMindDailyJournal feels like a full-functioning CBT approach to journaling, and I love this first experience!

BEST APP EVER!!!!😃😁👍

This is a awesome game it’s calming and nice and good and I recommend this game for you if you are in a ruff patch or you just want to write down your feelings I figured out something crazy and I felt bad and weird in so many ways and I thought to get a journal game and this is what i thought when I saw this oh this might be good then I downloaded this and I had to pick what made me mad or if i was sad or happy or annoyed and then i had to do a few more things and after it made a personalized journal! And even the journal was great! It was based on what I put in I honestly LOVED it SO MUCH here is a example of how great it is ,think of the greatest thing you know but imagine it 1 MILLION times better and that is how good this game is. Edit; one more thing I love how in reviews the developer response they are all different and true because some apps robots response the same and its like they put in real stuff and thoughts one last thing if the person who made this game read this.
👉 YOU ARE A PURE GENIUS AND PLEASE MAKE MORE GAME LIKE THIS ONE AND YOU ARE SOOOOOOOOOO AWESOME!!!!!!!🤞🥺☺️😁😇🙂🙄

Love the app, wish there were more customization options

I have used AlanMindDailyJournal for quite a while and genuinely love it! I have found the discussion questions to be creative and leading in my reflections, and I recommend AlanMindDailyJournal for anyone looking for a good journal, even with just the unpaid version.

However, sometimes on the daily reflection, the categories I am offered don’t reflect how my day went. I wish that there were options for custom emotions or categories, or some way to add tags to our journals to make them more personal and accurate. Sometimes the adjectives provided in the daily reflection don’t have options that relate to my day, which feels limiting and I just close AlanMindDailyJournal and think “nevermind” because I don’t resonate with the options provided.

Other than that one gripe, I do truly love AlanMindDailyJournal. I am a premium user of over a year, and I have definitely discovered myself more and have found that you get back what you’re willing to put into your reflection sessions. Sometimes the questions seem juvenile at first tbh, but when I play along I often find some depth that I didn’t expect.

Disappointed

Edit: I love developers who listen to their users. Thank you so much for the update and the fix. I genuinely love AlanMindDailyJournal and I’m glad to have it back in my routine.

Old review: One of my favorite things about AlanMindDailyJournal was it’s simplicity and I loved it took me away from my busy day for a moment. I always wanted more moods, because we as people as more complex than their selection. However, instead of updating with an expansion on the current moods, they replace it with emojis. Already AlanMindDailyJournal was crashing so I wasn’t able to see it since I updated it, and I had to delete and reinstall it. I immediately saw the emojis and I am now at a choice of whether to delete AlanMindDailyJournal or keep it. I genuinely love AlanMindDailyJournal because it allows me to process the beginning of the day and set goals for myself, but adding the emojis just cheapens the entire experience. Now with that being said, I’ve made up my mind to remove AlanMindDailyJournal from my phone and will not reinstall it until the emojis go away. I hope you listen to your customers.

I love this app!

AlanMindDailyJournal is great. Very user friendly and nice design. I was never one to journal. I tried the old pen and notebook thing but I’d end up just staring at the page not knowing what to write. Guide journaling is more up my alley. There is a good selection of guided journals. You can also write your own entires too. As another reviewer mentioned, the prompts do get repetitive but I don’t mind it too much. Some questions do have more than one answer and depending on your mood the answer could be different. 2020 has brought on so much, and I was feeling very stressed and disconnected. I must say that journaling in general has helped but it’s having this guided journal that has helped me to start journaling in the first place.

As for the cost, I tried the free version and really liked it so I ended up subscribing. But it was because I came across a 50% off sale. I figured I’d see how the year goes and at the end decide of I want to renew for $60. They do update often so we’ll see how AlanMindDailyJournal progresses. So far I’m loving it!

Best Journaling App Out There

I’ve tried many different journaling apps but this is truly the best one out there. It requires no recurring payment like most apps, it has a wonderful aesthetic that I haven't found anywhere else and all of the different categories really make it stand out.

6/19- adding onto my review! I really love the redesign. This is one of the few times a redesign has actually made an app even better. These are some improvements that I think can be made: I really love the Daily Jour feature and I wish that in addition to the one AlanMindDailyJournal provides, we could also have a feature where the user inputs questions for themselves and then get them after AlanMindDailyJournal ’s Daily Jour in the same type of aesthetic with the colors and the questions but it would be custom. I’m a high school student and I wish they had a section specifically for school (and maybe even work) stress because I think it’s something that a lot of people struggle with and I really love the categories like “Unsent Letter” and “In my Dreams.”

This is an app I seek out

I struggle with anxiety and have now been using Jour for almost a year and have journaled over 300 times since I started. When I notice the panic rising, I stop take a few deep breathes and then use Jour to walk me though what’s really causing my anxiety. I have found it so helpful. But I do have one thing I wish was different. I have read a lot recently about how many people feel two things at the same time like overwhelmed and joyful or anxious and comfortable. I would love to see the emojis being one part and the words being a different part. I also feel like some days I want to remember it was an anxiety high day but it wasn’t a bad day so then I feel like it can be hard to say how I feel during the check-in. I try to remember that one moment in time doesn’t define my whole day. I can have anxious thoughts and still have had a day where I was grateful and joyful. Thanks for listening.

One of the best apps ever... but the update is a bit frustrating

I love Jour. I downloaded it during a time of personal hardship and it helped me a lot to go through each day and just write everything, or anything, about my day. It kept me sane and happy even though sometimes life was kind of rough. Therefore, I’ve grown very fond of writing my Daily Reflections each night before bed.

But now, with the Daily Jour, I don’t get to answer as many questions, nor do they seem to reflect on the day I’ve had. I really appreciate going through my entries sometimes and reading them to see how far I’ve come, and it makes me a bit frustrated to see that none of the questions seem to even ask about my thoughts, feelings, or actions of the day. I do enjoy how there is a clear purpose to the questions and how they’re supposed to shape the next day, but I find myself missing the act of reflecting.

Of course, this is just a personal opinion and I will still be using Jour everyday, I just really hope that one day the Daily reflections will make an appearance once again.

Never thought it could work for me

I am not big on showing my personal emotions, let alone explicitly sharing them with someone. As a result, I sometimes have a hard time cooling down and simply understanding where I stand on many topics bugging me all day long. Keeping everything inside is not sustainable, you have to vent and release the pressure at some point and this is exactly what Jour has helped me with. When things gets blurry (pretty much every day) I take 5 min on Jour to sit down, follow the prompts guiding you through identifying how and why you are feeling a certain way. It takes a ridiculously little amount of time, allows me to shed the light on what really is the issue and also what is actually going very well in my life. I always feel better afterwards. My 5 min routine with Jour always make me focus on the positive and set me up to tackle the bad things with a constructive mindset. I love it.

Not Quite Right For Me

I’m not really one for journaling or diaries. I find that trying to write a diary always makes things worse. Right now, I’m struggling a lot with depression, anxiety, and a lack of self confidence. I thoroughly read the reviews and everything and I’m not going to say this is bad, because this really depends on the person. I saw that it was more of a guide and normally, I would just rant to my best friend and check in with them about everything. But regardless, my depression has gotten worse and I was hoping something else would help.

My first problem was that it asked about my relationship status and didn’t give the option of saying that “I’m a teenager who is more worried about getting through everything than relationship”, so I clicked single 5+ years.

Second was that it required me to make a login. Now that’s not exactly a problem, but I was sort of hoping it would let me test it out first before I made a login. (I have made logins before, deleted AlanMindDailyJournal , and then I had to block AlanMindDailyJournal cause I still get its emails).

Third was that I saw “seven days free”… which also was an off-putter. I don’t want to have to buy this when I already have the free option of a best friend I can talk about anything with.

I can’t explore AlanMindDailyJournal further without making a login and I’m not willing to do that. From what I’ve seen this is still an amazing app, but I personally don’t think it’s right for me.

I need this in my life.

I have never felt like I actually have a chance to change so many things in my life. Ever. Until just now. Only thing, is I can’t afford it. So that just got blown through the roof. Might as well go ahead and end my trial. I don’t want to get even more excited about it when it isn’t even possible. Man, this could be really beneficial to… not just me BUT MOST EVERYONE! I just got news that my child can not come back to school until she has some serious progress with being able to stay seated at her desk. She will be 4 years old next month and has been affected so negatively by this pandemic, as well as our whole family. It has broke us down. Anyways I said all of that to say.. I really would love to be able to use AlanMindDailyJournal more than 7 days. It seems so helpful. I’m so bummed about knowing that after 7 days it will be ended. I wish they accepted insurance.

Literally curing my depression

So I recently downloaded 10 different self-care/routine tracker apps to try them all out and see if I liked one. I quickly realized that all of these apps require premium subscriptions to enjoy their best features. I went through all of the free access features on each app and wasn’t satisfied with any of them. Last up, AlanMindDailyJournal. I went through all of the free access prompts. I loved the process! & genuinely felt happier after completing my first entry! & then I subscribed — even though I never subscribe to anything. The premium features are worth the money and are honestly so well priced, because you are literally receiving therapy and healing! Anyways, coming from an unbiased and slightly depressed & anxious gal, AlanMindDailyJournal has really helped me. I love the design & the techniques used & just wanted to show my support by leaving an honest review (: Thank you for coming to my TED Talk <3

This app is absolutely amazing

Pros: I sorta doubted this at first, but it became quickly my favorite app. I can journal and have so many prompts to get me started which is my biggest struggle. I love the music, so much sometimes I use that while driving! I love being reminded to journal as another thing I tend to forget. The prompts of how to even start a sentence are helpful too. I feel really good after I journal...some days I have a lot to say and some days I barely can compile words. Not all days are equal. I appreciate the feeling logs and goes from there by asking what could cause these feelings.

Cons: I wish the music would shuffle and not start at the same spot everytime. Also, I wish that we would get the same type of trial period as referrals did. That did disappoint me a bit seeing if I referred someone they got 30 days and I got like 3 or 7(cant remember) when I signed up for something.

By

I love this app ... however

I love AlanMindDailyJournal, I can already tell it will be my new favorite thing. Providing proper structure for someone logging their life is extremely important and AlanMindDailyJournal does just that, all while giving you the option to write freely. However, I soooo wish that AlanMindDailyJournal supported writing on the iPad Pro with your Apple Pencil. I love journaling but one of my favorite things about it is the ability to see and remember the emotions attached to my own handwriting. I hope this is something they’d consider in a future update.p (sooner than later). I would love to —literally—be able to write in this journal. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5.

Update: This is a probably a bug but this is app is lacking in additional security. I turned off the Face ID feature and AlanMindDailyJournal does not ask for a passcode or key phrase to view my entries. Additionally, when I attempt to view my entry for the day in my daily reflection it does no allow me but instead takes me back to the introduction page.

AMAZING!

Amazing app! Like the option to simply journal without going into a question prompted selection if you feel like simply journal something quickly. But I love the fact that you are prompted great thought processing questions which helps bring out many things you have on your mind that is troubling you now, and it can even bring up an issue or topic you may have forgotten about that you would like to work on now to release that burden. Journaling is extremely healthy for everyone emotionally mentally and spiritually!

The options are endless with how you work on your emotional and mental health! It almost makes it fun, I find myself wanting to go into AlanMindDailyJournal multiple Times a day because its fun to answer questions that get things moving in your head and heart.

I’m excited to see my progress years down the road! I highly recommend AlanMindDailyJournal to anyone and everyone! Nothing but good can come from AlanMindDailyJournal.

Actually just a journal (yay!)

Love AlanMindDailyJournal completely. Lots of other apps that describe themselves as journals feel a lot like writing an Instagram post to yourself. They don’t seem like centers for organization or reflection, just a loose collection of random flashy functions.

Jour is literally just a journal with a few interesting videos and articles on journaling. Instead of journaling + a calendar + etc. etc., you open AlanMindDailyJournal and you get a nice relaxing UI where you can choose to either to do one of a few pre-set exercises (basically just starting with a template) or write a free-form entry. It actually makes AlanMindDailyJournal much more compelling because when I open it the only thing to do is write down my thoughts, so I only open it for that reason and never feel like it’s secretly trying to increase my app time or get my money. I can just write and feel good about it, which is what journaling is supposed to be anyway.

Love this app <3

Hello, so AlanMindDailyJournal is really helpful to me at least because i can let someone know how im feeling and i can just pick what it making me feel this way. I dont know but I feel so calm after i say how i feel like if it a friend to me. im also doing this because im doing a weight loss journey but also a more calmer state like to not be so stress. I really love this and hopefully i make it through my goals, AlanMindDailyJournal will help me through it ❤️🌷 thank you so much guys for making AlanMindDailyJournal I dont know what i would do without it 🌸 another edit: but i think there should be some changes like to be able to access some of the articles because some people might wanna know what alan mind has to say and you have to pay just saying but you never know what somebody is going through and wanna find theirselves or learn. But still good for checking up on us ✨✨

Wonderful app with important things to improve

Wonderful app. I enjoy using it a lot because every day it gives you 3 questions to answer based on different topics, and it really allows you to reflect (which I love doing and need something to prompt me to do so regularly). I love the journeys section as well where you're prompted to make self-affirmations or where you can write about your dreams etc. I hope there will be more of those to come. Not to mention, the layout and colours are very aesthetically pleasing which amplifies the experience. So far, I've been using AlanMindDailyJournal every day as it makes journaling fun and interesting.

As for things that urgently need improvement: 1) Please enable word wrap in the Future Me journey. When you open the entry to reread, long text disappears and I can't read my goals completely which is annoying. 2) Please enable scrolling for long entries in general. Since it's a journal there shouldn't be a limit to what you can write. I wrote a very long entry in the dream section but I can't reread it in its entirety because AlanMindDailyJournal cuts my entry off. Please make a scroll bar!! 3) When reading old "journey" entries, maybe only make it go to the entry itself and not the bit with the introduction and the questions?

If those things get fixed I'll definitely bump the rating up a star or two!

edited 3 July: scrolling and word wrap has been enabled so I bumped my 3 stars to a 5! Thank you!

#1 Journal App !

As a writer myself, I used to love the idea of having a journal on my phone, especially as a teenager. So, like anyone who wants something, I searched. I’ve tried a plethora of different journaling apps that all either 1- require payment at some point or have a premium subscription which limits what you can do.. 2- do not have a real point to them. Nothing makes them very unique other than the layout.
But Jour has a purpose. You can write daily reflections to help you set goals and look back on them weeks later. AlanMindDailyJournal also offers journaling ideas/tips as well as exercises for when you’re anxious and ideas on how to heal and grow.
Now, I spend a fair amount of money on aesthetically pleasing, durable physical journals that fit my personality for that period in my life, but Jour delivers aesthetic prompts that take ten minutes tops to be more present, and invest in yourself.

By

Sooooo happy with Jour

UPDATE: All of a sudden i can’t even access daily journaling!?? It was my favorite part. Now it just keeps telling me “tomorrow at 3pm (my reminder time). What gives? I understand that at some point the premium features would roll out but this is ridiculous and sad.

I’ve only had it two days and I’m pleased with the interface, the questions and the motivation. So grateful to this developer for not only giving us an actual FREE app (which basically doesn’t exist anymore) that doesn’t lock you out of the good stuff. Mental health is so important and journaling is one of the key components. I understand developers should be compensated which is why when I do have the money I will switch to premium, not because basic isn’t worthwhile but because this developer in particular should be rewarded for all the effort. Thank you Jour!!

Exactly what I needed, there’s just one bug.

This is the very best journaling app I’ve found so far! As a person who is growing and going through a self discovery process, I wanted to start a journal. I always prefer to use to paper but sometimes it’s just not practical when I’m out or need to take a mental break and write something down. Having AlanMindDailyJournal makes that a whole lot easier. I love how it offers guidance through the journaling process but you don’t have to follow it if you don’t want to. The lessons are also an amazing feature. The one bug I found was that in the middle of whatever task I was doing on AlanMindDailyJournal it would spontaneously crash. I’m not sure if it’s something to do with my phone or and actually bug in AlanMindDailyJournal . It mostly happens when I’m going though the lessons. Again, could just be my phone but thought I should point it out anyways. Thanks again for this amazing, amazing app!!!

Beauty in Simplicity

I rarely write out reviews, however, I wanted to share my thoughts on Jour. AlanMindDailyJournal provides easy, step by step guidance on starting your journaling routine. It has a nice collection of topics ranging from making a change to starting a dream journal. Two things I love most about AlanMindDailyJournal is the absence of a paywall and encryption of your personal data. There is no paywall screen pushing you to subscription only the simple beauty of letting you write to your heart’s content. Everything is free (for now) and I know that as a new app this will inevitably change. My only wish going forward is that Jour continues to help new users journal for free and limit the need to place too much content/special features behind a paywall. It’s a beautiful app doing a beautiful thing especially for those who need a safe space to share their innermost thoughts.

favorite journal app out of so many

I have tried so many journal apps after four years of paper journaling fell by the wayside in an ever busier schedule. Jour walks the perfect line between prompted reflection and free writing. I love the consistency to the daily reflections, and the simple “snapchat” style makes it natural and comfortable to either write a couple words or many paragraphs. my only issues (and why 4 stars) is viewing the entries once I’ve written them; I would love to have all of them run together like a typical snapchat story instead of having to click on each date specifically. I would also like to be able to choose to switch out some of the questions; for example, “what can I do to make today even better” is not exactly relevant when I jour right before I go to sleep. overall, though, a fantastic app with a beautiful, simplistic design and structure that makes it a joy to use.

Love the app, few bugs that need fixed

I love AlanMindDailyJournal. The whole idea is amazing and I love feeling like I have somewhere to fully escape and record my thoughts without anyone being able to access them (face ID is the only way they can get in)
Few things I noticed is that when I go back to read my guided daily journal entries I am unable to scroll and read the full entry. I tend to type a lot so it actually ends up cutting off a bunch of my entry. Adding a scroll feature or an expand button maybe, would be great.
I AM able to scroll and read a new (non-guided) entry but when I try to scroll as soon as my finger lets of the screen it thinks I am trying to type and add to my entry. Seems like just a few minor bugs that if fixed would make AlanMindDailyJournal PERFECT! I seriously love it and have been using it everyday. Just need to be able to access my past entries to read what I wrote

My Favorite Journaling App!

AlanMindDailyJournal is amazing! Not only does it allow you regular journaling functions, but it offers Daily Reflection and things that can help get one’s life a little more stable. Overall, it’s a very nice app! However, I have one problem: whenever I wish to look back on a journal entry, I am unable to scroll because it will keep bringing the cursor to the last word of the entry. Not only does this make reading an entry practically impossible, but it also changes the date of completion for the entry. For example, if I wrote about what happened in my life on Monday and I try to read it on Wednesday, I’ll end up automatically being sent to the bottom and the entry will say it was finished Wednesday; it’s very confusing. Otherwise, it’s an excellent app! Hopefully that little inconvenience will be fixed in later updates; other than that, I definitely recommend AlanMindDailyJournal!

Great app!! I wish there was more to it though

I really like this journaling app because the prompts ask me to focus on things that remind me who I am as a person. I’m going through a self-discovery phase and AlanMindDailyJournal is really helping me rediscover who I am.
Critiques/suggestions:
Can we have a “my profile” page? It would be really nice to be able to have one page where all the entries are, instead of having them on multiple pages. It would also be nice to have an option to reorganize AlanMindDailyJournal , or even just the personalized “my profile” page, in a way that suits each individual best.
It would be really cool to be able to have a “book mode” as well. To be able to design a cover and have a page for each day. It would also be extremely neat to be able to customize each page with different layouts, colors, fonts, etc. I LOVE the aesthetic and color themes of AlanMindDailyJournal . Maybe have an option to add pictures at well!

It’s Really Good; Except for one small problem

I always loved writing. When I stumbled upon this in AlanMindDailyJournal Store one night I knew I had to pre order this. I started playing with this as soon as I got it. This would honestly be 4.5 stars out of 5 due to an issue that keeps bothering me. When I go in to write a “thought,” the text would just disappear. I would have to keep typing constantly just to see the text on the screen, and when I want to delete a word or two I would have to delete a sentence just to see the other sentences that disappeared off of the screen, and then I would have to fill in the parts that were deleted again. It didn’t act like this the first two times I tried it, but then in just happened. I really love the “add a thought” feature a lot, but this issue takes away from it. I love AlanMindDailyJournal and I hope this bug gets fixed.
