I can’t “Unlock Now” or hit the Settings button without a pop up error, every time I try.

I purchased the this app app back on August 28, 2020 from FlickType Store when it cost $1.99 and did not have in-app purchases and have it installed on my Apple Watch, but I cannot use customization features whatsoever, like swiping to type and autocorrect because when I open the iPhone app and am on the “Watch” screen, hitting either the “Settings” button or the “Unlock Now” button results with a pop up error that reads “Error performing request.” I have no idea why this is happening or how to fix it, and there are 0 results on this issue searching Google. I’ve tried reinstalling FlickType and have had no success. I am using it on an iPhone X running iOS 14.3 and my Apple Watch Series 4. I REALLY hope the developer helps me figure out what is going wrong because I had high hopes for this being on my watch and all I can do is manually type without autocorrect, so it’s basically useless at this point. This issue has persisted since I paid for FlickType several months ago and am so frustrated that I am apparently the only person having this issue…

Useful and surprisingly accurate keyboard!

I’ve enjoyed my time with this app so far. While it’s unfortunate that Apple doesn’t yet support 3rd party input methods in the stock Messages app, the developer has implemented some clever workarounds that I think work almost just as well to make replying to messages with a full keyboard on the watch so easy. The keyboard itself works surprisingly well for such a small screen and I keep finding myself shocked as the correct word pops on screen after I just tapped the keyboard on screen a few times in almost the exact same places. Other than the lack of being able to directly reply to notifications (again, out of the developer’s control) everything about this feels “stock” and exactly how Apple themselves would handle this sort of functionality within watchOS. I think this is a great example to show Apple how much 3rd party input methods would benefit the next version of watchOS!

Great app! (also one request)

This is a great app and it has a very fast keyboard. The only issue is whenever I mistype a word and hit space and I want to go back after to correct it, it deletes the whole word and I have to start over. Although this can be convenient, it can also be annoying and can slow down the process of typing sometimes. If it is possible, I only ask that you add an option in settings to turn that feature off ( the feature where backspace deletes the whole word instead of a letter). This would be great. Other than that, this app is a great app and I recommend it to anyone who wants to get away from the default scribble option Apple Watch currently has. OFF TOPIC: I also recommend FlickType Watch Notes as it is convenient to switch between notes on the iPhone and Apple Watch and it works very well with FlickType.

Almost Perfect...

I was initially very interested in FlickType for its Apple Watch functionalities- as I often find myself replying to messages without my phone and scribbling them out is a huge pain. I love the keyboard layout, and the ability to scroll between words to pick the correct one. It’s a faster, far more convenient way for me to reply to texts when I am unable to use my phone.
HOWEVER.
I am literally unable to type out any words that FlickType doesn’t recognize, which is a BIG problem for me. I tried adding a few to the dictionary on the phone, but thus far it has not translated over. I know I have the option to scribble specific words if I need to, but I got FlickType to get AWAY from that. This would be a perfect 5 star review if I was simply able to cancel the auto-correct to type the word I want without it insisting on the wrong letter to find the closest word to its internal dictionary.

Good, but only halfway there.

Overall it saves me time, but I still cannot understand why there’s still no option to select numbers, special characters, etc without having to take extra time to scribble which defeats half of the purpose. Please bring this feature! Also for some reason when you do scribble (for instance, a question or exclamation mark) it leaves a space that you cannot get rid of after the text you want to add said special character to. Also would be great to edit text suggestions when you want to enter a name or something and it doesn’t let you! Again making you take extra time to go into scribble and doing it that way. FlickType is supposed to save you time but often it does the opposite. I hope you can bring about these changes in the near future and I’ll give it 5 stars.

Awesome keyboard!

I never write reviews for anything, but I saw a post about this keyboard on Reddit and it was getting a lot of positive feedback. I figured what the hell I would check it out.

So far I’m really enjoying it! It’s a little weird having to close the text message app and open the this app complication to type but I’m assuming that’s because Apple doesn’t allow perfect integration. It’s not weird enough to knock the rating down though. I’m still learning all the gestures but the predictive text so far has been pretty solid and after a bit more time with it I’m sure I’ll have it down. It’s definitely increased my typing speed on my wrist at least 20 times over.

Definitely get FlickType if you find yourself typing on your wrist even a couple times a day!

Amazing app

FlickType is great well worth the price. I just got the apple watch SE 44mm and I was skeptical at first but it REALLY had everything and the developers actually seemed to include all asks into their updates. Most of the complaints seem to answered in this version update. The swipe function was exactly what i was looking for on top of having a favorite contact to text since texting to me should be about speed at this point.

I’m hoping we can add up to three max fav contacts in the future, and i’m curious how this works for group messages? Is there a way to add groups as favs?

Will there potentially be a way to move the cursor back and edit text instead of deleting everything and retyping?

Excellent job for having such an easy input app for typing. Really looking forward to the next update!

Great typing experience on iPhone and apple watch.

I've been using this app for over a year now and can't tell you how much time it has saved me typing out messages, emails, and so much more.
I used to use a lot of shorthand when writing messages because typing out whole words sometimes just took so much time. I'm happy to say that this app changed this and I don't feel quite so bad or dread writing email messages anymore.
Having this app on apple watch is also a good experience. I can't say I would leave my phone at home just yet and use my watch alone, but for those times when my phone is in my backpack and I can't use speech to text for what ever reason, this app is their for me when I really need to send those messages or two.

By

Loved It!

It was very easy use and setup! It helps me on a day to day basis especially if I am somewhere where I can’t use dictation or scribble because it’s very time consuming. At first, I was skeptical about how small the watch’s interface was. I have the series 3 and not the 4 or 5, and the 3 and below series have smaller interfaces. But, the spacing between the letters were just perfect! I’d also like to add that I don’t have great handwriting. (I’ll admit.) So scribble takes a long time to recognize my words I draw. So with “this app” it was very easy and better for me! I found it on TikTok. I was kind of bummed it was two dollars but it was worth it, and I am really thankful! I never really write reviews for apps but this one was so good, I wrote one ! 5 stars!!!

Really sad </3 (but a very good app)

I had initially bought FlickType when it was free. I just now opened FlickType on my phone for the first time in forever, and when I tried to use it on my watch it’s asking me to unlock FlickType , which, when I attempt to unlock, asks me to pay ≈$7.

While this does deter me from using FlickType , I still found FlickType to be very useful and intuitive. FlickType guessed whatever you typed with very good accuracy! You could simply type a letter by holding it down in order to bypass this guessing system (if the word gets autocorrected incorrectly).

I don’t know if payment is necessary for FlickType ’s usage, but I do know that FlickType is very useful!

Must Have Watch App

This is a must have app for any Apple Watch owner. I’m a newer Watch owner and found the native messages app options a little tough to use for responses with the speech or funny swipe option.

I’m not going to lie. I was skeptical at first on buying a keyboard app. After doing research, FlickType was listed as THE keyboard app for the Apple Watch. I bought it and haven’t looked back or regretted my choice. It makes using the messages app on the Apple Watch sooo much easier. This is how the native messages app should’ve been made to handle returning messages.

I highly recommend FlickType to anyone looking for a keyboard app to use with their messages on the Apple Watch. You won’t regret it!

Immediately charges you without allowing you to try it first…

This was the worst waste of $10! I only downloaded it because it described itself as allowing me to do something my Apple Watch wouldn’t only to find out it only did exactly what other FREE apps do. Most apps would give you Atleast a 3 day trial, even 1 day would have been better than forcing me to pay for it immediately before even knowing for sure that it did what I was seeking. Upon opening FlickType and seeing its functionality, which was unhelpful and trash, I requested a refund to no avail. I didn’t even keep FlickType on my phone for 15 minutes but it cost me money. Apple won’t refund it because it’s a “private app” and not one backed my Apple…..and I’m sure it’s developer won’t either. Just don’t download it….waste of time, space, and money!

Great app for typing on watch

This is a fantastic app for anyone who wants to use their Apple Watch to reply to messages instead of having to take out their phones.

Keyboard comes up very quickly and the response is great. Picks up words typed correctly 99.9% of the time with the only issues being if you try and use slang which an option is being worked on to add in common words outside the normal English language.

Love FlickType just wish Apple would allow it to directly work with the messages app instead of having to open FlickType separate.

By

Ok, needs update

FlickType is good but hampered by Apple not allowing it to work directly with the iMessage app. The workaround that is shown in the video to reply to a message by swiping down to dismiss it does not work. It does dismiss the message, yes, but the keyboard does not come up. Also, the documentation says that if you to a two finger tap the next word will start with a capital letter. That does not work. Also pressing down with two fingers does not allow me to see the whole text that has been typed in.

It would be good if there was a way to have an all caps option. Or an all caps keyboard and all lower case keyboard that could be toggled back and forth.

Great app.

I don’t see why this isn’t already on the Apple Watch, but the creator did such a great job. It doesn’t feel like some weird 3rd party app. It just feels like it’s apart of my watch. FlickType works perfectly and I’m on a smaller 40mm watch. I was honestly surprised how well it works. I figured I would be pressing a bunch of letters I didn’t want to, but I don’t.

Perfect for those that don’t like the built in texting options. Highly recommend for anyone using an Apple Watch. Might even consider it a must have if you plan on texting on your watch a lot.

By

Amazing

FlickType is literally life saving. The ability to actually type out messages and have it recognize and interpret your typing is so good. I struggle with the drawing letters deal because he screen size isn’t big enough. FlickType saves me so much time replying to messages and tweeting from my watch. Also love the this app Notes app so I can take quick notes on the go without having to take my phone out. Absolute must have for Apple Watch owners. Apple needs to support 3rd party keyboards system wide.

Good useful app!

I have an iPhone 7📱and Apple Watch 4 - 44mm. ⌚️
FlickType is really useful in situations when the Apple watch can’t regognize my voice when there is too much noise, or can not use my voice (in a library) to respond to a message.
The autocorrect is useful. It all works perfect and simple when it is in English. but sometimes if i’m using an other language, it wants to autocorrect to english, and can not turn it off (at the moment). I contacted the developer and the developer said he is working on that in the next update! 😉
So good work ! 😁👍

Terrible

FlickType is a great idea mixed with the worst predictive text ever. Every message I try to type ends with me using the Digital Crown for every single word and some words are not even in the predictive text and even after adding the word to the dictionary the words will still not be able to be selected. This could all be fixed with the option to turn off the predictive text but FlickType won’t let you do that. The keyboard is great works amazing and knows exactly the letter you want to hit so I don’t understand why they would ruin this by adding a predictive text that changes the words you are typing. As an example every time I try to send someone a message saying “Hey” I type out H-E-Y and it will auto correct to “Get” every single time!

This app is Magic!

I use Flick Type on the Apple Watch and guys and gals, boys and girls, FlickType is Magic. As long as you tap in the general vicinity of the correct letter on the screen, it's like the keyboard can read your mind and correctly decide what word you intended to type. The developer is also incredibly responsive to customer requests. That says a lot about the person behind FlickType. Which is important because I think that says FlickType is only going to get better and better. Well worth the cost of admission.

By

Not For Morons

FlickType has way more bad ratings than it deserves from people who aren’t bothering to even try using it right. I don’t mind the couple of extra steps it takes to use it on the watch considering otherwise, I don’t even have a keyboard And no, you don’t HAVE to pay to use it. The keyboard works ON THE WATCH for free if you open it on the watch! You have to pay if you want the extra features. Huge thank you to the developer for FlickType!

Definitely improvement, and there can be more.

I for the longest time have been against the usage of my phone, one of the reasons being that typing has always been a rather difficult journey for me. I mainly use dictation, but that can’t be discreet in public places, and it doesn’t always hear me right. I never had a chance to try out fleksy, But even so this is a major improvement. The only problem is that I run into, is sometimes when trying to release a manually typed letter on the custom keyboard, and ends up typing a different letter. And also a batch add to dictionary would be useful, as well as the dictionary respecting common root word rules, such as a pending “slj “to the end of a word. Great job so far, especially in the time that this thing has been in development. Keep up the great work, and let’s make FlickType better for everyone.

Good, would like to see some options

First, my review will be strictly based on the watch app as I haven’t used it for the iPhone or iPad. That being said, I love the ability to type. That makes messaging so much better on the watch. It’s rather amazing how well it guessing what I want to say. It’s almost to the point of creepy how well it works. 😂

There are however instances where it doesn’t get it right, and this is where having a custom dictionary or the ability to freeform type word would be useful. If it’s there and I’m missing it my apologies but I haven’t been able to fine either. Also, where are my numbers? How do I enter in any kind of number? Last but not least, I’d love to see FlickType expanded beyond just messenger. I’d love to be able to use it for emails or notes or whatever app I want.

Other than that, awesome app.

Minor bug introduced!

Update:
Within hours of writing review, an update was released. The keyboard switching is no longer an issue.I really do love having this keyboard. It makes daily typing so much easier. I'm finding an odd quirk with latest update. I have three keyboards that I switch between... This one, Apple standard, and the emoji keyboard. Sometimes it switches between this keyboard and emoji only. Constantly bypassing the Apple standard keyboard. Having to switch like three times before I can get right keyboard. I've tried a reboot and turning VO off \ on. Neither was effective in fixing this minor annoyance. It just slows me down for a moment or two.
I'm using an iPhone 8 which is running the most current software. Hopefully this will be corrected in an upcoming update. Otherwise it's a fantastic app.

This app

FlickType is suppose to work on my Apple Watch well it’s not working very and making me angry and mad about it!!!! I don’t like if it...If it is suppose to work on my Apple Watch or Apple iPhone then what the frank is going on I tried typing it on my watch nothing is happening and when I do on my iPhone same thing it doesn’t work very well. It’s make me so mad that you are so suppose to have an app to help the Apple Watch well you guys failed on that makes me really disappointed that I thought FlickType would work for my Apple Watch or Apple iPhone but no. Good luck trying it on your watch because it’s not working on my end and I have my iPhone update and same for Apple Watch so I don’t know what the problem if you would like to explain what’s wrong with or you fixed the problem please let me know when you send me an email please and thank you!

Makes on screen typing a non-visual experience

this app makes typing on an iDevice so much faster with only one finger and no need to look at the keyboard. It's predictive engine is so powerful that the correct word is either initially selected or included in the alternatives list that you only need to get somewhat near the actual letter in the word you're typing. this app's gestures make it unnecessary to search for punctuation or special characters to type your input. And it's learning curve is not steep so you can be typing quickly with only a few minutes practice. Thanks this app!

Typing Screen Text

I used your app with good results. However, every time I return to the typing screen in FlickType , there is text at the top, which is the two basic directions for swiping left and swiping right. If I ignore or forget to delete this text, it is included in the text whether it’s an email or not. It is annoying to have to remember to erase this text before typing text. I have low vision but would love to recommend FlickType to my other blind friends, but this would be a real problem for them.

I would like to know how to remove it permanently or a workaround.

Thank you

Awesome app but need some work

I really love that you now have integrated flick type as a third-party system keyboard. It works pretty well except for in a few apps it seems to write with “invisible ink”. I wrote an email with the iOS email app and my uncle responded with are you using invisible ink? FlickType also seems to be using invisible ink or just not put anything in the field in my fat secret app. I know that FlickType just became available for a third-party keyboard and I’m sure all the bugs will be squashed in time. Just wanted to let you know my experience with it.

By

Looks good, need help setting up

I can’t figure out how to get this keyboard working on my Apple Watch. It’s not on the list of apps I can install in the Watch app, and it won’t show as a keyboard option within Messages. FlickType could use more streamlining and thorough on-boarding for the user. I would prefer to contact the dev through App support/email and post a review after a response, but I would’ve had to apply to join a group to send the message.

An Outstanding Return!

So pleased to have the return of FlickType. The developer has done an excellent job of not only bringing this valuable app back, but should also be commended for having made numerous improvements. FlickType is far less clunky than it had been in the past and seems way more accurate. Let us hope that Apple will one day finally allow us to be able to use this extremely useful app as a stock keyboard one day. Nevertheless, excellent job!

This keyboard for the visually impaired is like magic!

this app is fantastic! I can type as fast as any sighted person. I just tap the screen where I think the letters should be on a qwerty keyboard, then swipe right, and my word magically appears!

For those who missed the old Fleksy app, it is back, and better than ever!
This keyboard types a little differently than the iOS keyboard, so I highly recommend that you spent a few minutes to read the instructions before attempting to type.

Great Product

This is a wonderful product for the Apple Watch. I have not used it for my iPhone, but it is a great compliment to my Apple Watch 4. I would give it a 5-star rating except I cannot get to numeric or special characters on my watch. That feature works great, as advertised, on my iPhone X, just not on the watch. Hopefully the developers will have a fix soon. Then it will be perfect!!

Also, can’t figure out how to respond to a text or email on my Apple Watch 4.

Once again it is a pleasure to type on a smart phone

Since I’d be grudgingly had to abandon my Nokia and 82, one of the few things I have always missed was how easy it was to type on my phone. Now with this app, I want again enjoy typing on my smart phone. These guys are truly awesome. Thank you so much for bringing the ease of typing back to those of us who miss our old button phones.

Try this

This is an awesome little app. I greatly enjoy its predictive capabilities. I was a long time user of dictation or braille screen input found in VoiceOver. While those input methods have their place, I am excited at what this brings to the table. For anyone who used Fleksy back in the day, this will feel familiar to you. Works awesome with or without VoiceOver enabled. Give it a try; I think you'll be impressed!

By

Subscription Turned Me Off

Is this a good app? Yes. Does it work well? Yes. Would it be something I used every day? Yes. But I don't, because of the fact that there's a built-in setting in voiceover that allows me to type just as well as with FlickType. So yeah, I'm sticking with braille screen input. FlickType may be able to do some things it can't, but at least I don't have to pay to do something sighted people can do for free.

By

Great keyboard for the visually impaired

Typing on the iOS keyboard has always worked very well. However it was not as quick as if a person that had vision were to type. This keyboard is amazing because I can type just as fast as my cited counterparts. Thank you for making it a system wide keyboard.
