Very Unsatisfied

I wish I could give DietMealPlanner zero stars. I NEVER write reviews but my experience with DietMealPlanner and their customer service was despicable. I signed up for a week trial and after using DietMealPlanner for a couple days decided it was not what I was looking for as it did not have food options or flexibility that I liked. After about 3 days I unsubscribed and deleted DietMealPlanner . Or so I thought. I got an email on the last day of my trial saying I had been charged $86 for a 2 month membership. I contacted the support and explained that I cancelled and questioned why I got charged and they sent me an automated reply sending me a link to unsubscribe and telling me that there was no way for them to manage my account. I emailed back and requested that I be refunded as my subscription should have been cancelled before I was charged. I continue to get automated replies. I have been emailing them for at least an hour now and every single one I send I get an automated reply in return. The customer service is horrible. They have no number listed for me to call. And I have attempted to redownload DietMealPlanner and log in to manage my account and I cannot even do that. Every time I try it wants me to put in my card information and sign in again. DO NOT waste your money on DietMealPlanner. They should consider getting better customer service.

Great way to track nutrition

One of the biggest frustrations with diet/fitness apps for me is not being able to track what's important in addition to calories. Diet shows right at the top not total calorie intake, but carbs, proteins, and fats, and not just to tell you if you've had too much, but when you haven't had enough. Diet has an awesome interface that's easy to navigate, and puts everything into smaller categories that makes adding meals and snacks SO easy. I also love that for tracking water, you just tap on a "plus" button and it shows right there how much water you've had. In other apps I've tried, they often take you elsewhere, asking for more info on liquid intake or requiring you to add it to a meal. As someone who frequently struggles with keeping properly hydrated, this is the best and easiest way I've seen to keep track of my water intake on a diet app. The only thing I don't like is that allllll over DietMealPlanner there are ads for the premium version where you think youre clicking on something you can look at and it very often needs to be purchased.

Needs some improvements

Hello, i like DietMealPlanner and the fact that it gives insight into calories, carbs, fats, etc. and has different meals and meal plans that you can choose from, but I have some complaints. Here are the things I think can be improved, especially with the meal plans:

1. The shopping list and meal lists. I think that you should be able to adjust/plan your meals a week in advance, and get a shopping list a week in advance. Also, as a picky eater, i appreciate the fact that you can pick out foods you dont like to avoid meals with those foods. However, instead of completely disregarding meals with one or 2 ingredients you dont like, there should be an option to let you cook without the ingredient or give alternative ingredients. Also, it should let you rate the meals that you try, with a like or dislike so youre not recommended them again. Also, maybe give the option for your own recipes to be included in the meal plan.

2. Again with the meals. I think in addition to carbs, fats, etc., i think there should be additional options for meal settings. Low sugar, low sodium, low starch, more dairy, etc. i also think that these levels should be tracked, because right now although you can go in and see them manually, your weekly/daily stats of sodium etc. are not logged or recorded.

Again, i really like DietMealPlanner but think it could use some improvements. Hopefully the developers can incorporate some of my sugguestions here. Thanks!

Not able to customize

From what I’ve seen, DietMealPlanner is great with meal plans, creating shopping lists and making it easy to track meals. I didn’t see anything that allows you to customize meals though. If I can’t have an ingredient in a suggested meal, I couldn’t find a way to remove it or substitute it. Also, while there are recipes with ingredients I can have, I don’t see where I can swap the meals out. I’d like to be able to add the ingredients for the recipes I can have to the shopping list and I don’t see that. Also, there are meals from each plan I’d like to try but right now, the only options I have at the ones available on the plan I’ve selected. DietMealPlanner is on the right track but needs to be tweaked a little more. It is definitely not worth $20 a month. The developers should consider reducing the price to about $5 a month so users are more willing to sign up and pay for the add-on apps, such as yoga and meditation.

Almost Perfect

I absolutely LOVE everything about DietMealPlanner...
EXCEPT a few nagging things!! 1) Please please allow our “own recipes” to be added to our meal plan and shopping list. 2) Allow us to upload photos to our custom recipes instead of just a background color.3) allow us to customize the recipes that DietMealPlanner generates. 4) allow a search within the swap meals category instead of just scrolling . If I could do those four things DietMealPlanner would be perfection! I’m currently using other apps now only because they have greater customization options!

This app has the potential to make you fatter. (Seriously)

Initially loved it, but there’s a bug that causes the food you’ve entered for the day to randomly disappear (therefore inaccurately representing the number of calories taken in) I’ll enter in a lunch meal and snack, then later for dinner I’ll check to see how many calories I have left and the value is incorrect. The interface shows the user how many calories left for that day. But then when I click on a meal I’m like “where are the 3 hard boiled eggs I’ve added (twice now)” - or I’ll be like “There’s no way I have 1100 kcals left at 730p and I’ve eaten 3 meals”.

After the third day it was frustrating... adding meal items 3 and 4 times. I need to trust what the software is doing.

It is too difficult to add a meal on the fly. For instance: I prepare my own salad and it may have different ingredients (and quantities) every day I prepare it (therefore I can’t save it as a recipe). I have to add each part of the salad as a food item under that specific meal. Which wouldn’t be the problem, except for the fact that items will randomly disappear. It may be the next time I open it, it could be 3 hours after. It’s inconsistent and frustrating. Great concept, free apps have ironed all of this out.

Had I not been paying attention, I would have been eating extra calories a day because DietMealPlanner drops what I had been logging.

Has potential but falls short of amazing

I love that DietMealPlanner can be tailored to food preference and that it provides recipes, but there are only one week’s worth of recipes that just get repeated. It’s true that they are simple, but they’re also tailored to feed only one person. It would be great if you could make a larger batch of some of the recipes to serve a family or to keep as leftovers.

The recipes themselves are strange. At times the instructions are unclear and mention ingredients like butter that weren’t in the ingredients list. If you’re a decent cook I think you can figure it out ok. Lastly they call for things like .53 oz of onion and 1 potato. As someone without a food scale I have no idea what that much onion looks like. As potatoes come in many different shapes and sizes I find “1 potato” to not be helpful either.

There are recipes that I eat in different days but when I try to track the recipe it adds it to the day that was assigned. It would be nice if I didn’t have to enter everything in manually just because I had leftovers (I’ve been doubling the recipes).

Lastly DietMealPlanner keeps telling me “great job on your first day!” It’s a bit discouraging to see that every day.

So yeah DietMealPlanner could be amazing, but it’s not quite there.

This app is okay.

I liked the way you could get custom meal plans but I was disappointed when I chose a meal it wasn’t on my plan even though I chose the option to search for meals in my plan. I don’t like the fact you cannot record steps or even have it integrated with Apple Health. There is a walking app, for which I bought for a month thinking it would integrate but it doesn’t. That was a complete waste of 9.99. And of course there is no way to request a refund. I also don’t drink 8 ounce bottles of water. I think I can speak for many; bottled water is mostly purchased in 12 or 16.9 oz, the 8 oz is usually consumed by kids. Sooo, my water intake is always off.

After my one month of this one, I will discontinue. I just hope I don’t have the problems that many reviewers have had with cancelation.

Informative/Educating

I am new to DietMealPlanner , however, I have found it’s easy to maneuver and has an extensive food log (I really dislike adding custom food); would of given it 5 stars if you didn’t have to pay a subscription fee per each get-fit app which is compatible (ex: get-fit fitness, walking, water, meditation, diet) and allows you to track/ import information cross the apps; to do so, which I currently have done to assure better, accurate tracking information is very pricey; please consider placing all the get-fit apps as a bundle for one subscription price; a positive consistent lifestyle change is the healthiest thing you could ever do as self care and to track your self allows a record which you/your physician can look at.

Why so forceful?

Let me start by saying I love DietMealPlanner. I traded it for DietMealPlanner I was faithfully using for 2 years called “lifesum” and I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to use and it was very motivating. However, as a college student and mother money is always tight & I hate how now I can’t log anything or use DietMealPlanner because it’s forcing this message of “Grab the deal before it’s too late!” Each time I open DietMealPlanner . I try to close and reopen it just for the 14 min timer to start over. It’s very frustrating because I wanted to use DietMealPlanner and never look back but it comes across as forceful and for people who don’t have money to use for extra luxuries like this... it’s messed up because we want to be healthy too💔 to the creators: please fix this!

App deletes/replaces/alters entries

I really did enjoy DietMealPlanner at first, but I noticed that it would change the quantities of some general food entries (such as setting my .5 banana to 1), and sometimes change manually entered calories and nutritional values to outrageous numbers (sometimes 55,000 kcal). This throws off all your averages, including your carbs, protein, and fat intake counters, and can occur to any manually added entry added in your calendar (even if it’s a week old) making it impossible to keep proper track of your intake average.

While customer support was friendly, and assured me this issue would be resolved within a week, no additional updates have been released since that conversation resulting in almost zero dinner entries for me since it’ll just mess them up anyways.

I went from high recommending DietMealPlanner to friends and family to warning them away because of this issue.

Way better apps out there…

I downloaded DietMealPlanner last night and have already determined it won’t work for me. I love the variety of meal plans available, but there were too many inconsistencies. For instance, one of my breakfast options was a peanut butter banana tortilla. Easy enough, spread peanut butter on a tortilla, add sliced banana, sprinkle with coconut, done. Except the picture showed chocolate drizzled over the tortilla, which was not in the ingredients, and there was no size/weight for the tortilla itself. How many calories did they calculate the tortilla at? Same thing with the salad for lunch: 1 shredded carrot. No size/weight of carrot, just 1 carrot. I know there are better apps out there that give exact weights/measurements for their meal plans, and that is what makes sense to me. So this one was a bomb for me.

So. Many. Bugs.

I’ve had DietMealPlanner for a little over a month now, and I’ve resorted to just tracking my meals on pen and paper due to the endless list of bugs. I made the mistake of buying the year subscription, and boy do I regret it now.

DietMealPlanner will forget meal entries repeatedly, so I end up having to log in breakfast several times before it actually sticks. It does the same thing every time I log in my weight for the day. It also freezes constantly. I wrote to their tech desk to let them know of the issues, and they replied by simply stating they’re aware of the many issues.

I hope they fix the bugs someday because it seems like it would be a great app if it actually worked properly, but as it stands the glitches make DietMealPlanner barely useable.

By

This app is just not quite there yet

I like the recipes and that I can now swap the meals out but DietMealPlanner has a lot of glitches and I find I have re-add a lot of my foods. Also some days I can have “two lunches” which I’m fine with but I can’t adjust my other days to have accommodate. The marketing suggests that they repeat food items so I don’t have to buy a million things from the grocery store but that’s not the case. Every meal every day is way different than the next. It’d be very difficult for the average on-the-good mid-low income person to accommodate for unfortunately. There are things I really like but for now there are apps that don’t cost as much that also don’t have glitches and may be cheaper. For now I’d advice you to save your money.

Lifestyle Changing

I absolutely love DietMealPlanner. At first I was skeptical and assumed it would be like others, charging me for adding my foods and only able to see meal plans and recipes on the “pro” side of things. I was completely wrong. Not only can I add in my food but it tells me the nutrition quality from a scale of A to E and tells me why it has the specific rating. It also allows you to choose meal plans, vegan, no sugar, fasting, etc. Even with all of that it still gives you meals to make and the ingredients and directions to make them. I’ll never use another app again.

AMAZING APP

So DietMealPlanner is incredible, it has me losing 2lbs per week. It not only helps me keep track of my calories but also gives me nutritious/healthy recipes!! I also have young siblings with severe allergies so DietMealPlanner gave me loads of alternatives!! I’ve read lots of reviews complaining about the price but I payed gladly considering the pros and cons. I’ve been making tons of different foods and this week has been my “spinach week” It’s incredibly healthy and delicious! 10/10 recommend the Spinach Omelet!

By

I can’t...

I loved the beginning, how DietMealPlanner asked our needs and what we liked and disliked—song with if we had any allergies or if we were following a specific diet/plan. But I just waited 15 minutes for no reason. When o finished the survey, it took me to a screen where I had to pay or wait 15 minutes till it “expired” but nothing happened when it reached zero. I was really disappointed because I thought that this could be the one app I could find that could give me meals that can help me with my health without having to pay.

I personally think it’s quite stupid to pay for healthy meals, because we want to better our health and bodies, but they’re charging $10 a month for what? I get the price is reasonable, but I don’t want to pay that much just to get a meal plan and recipes.

Disappointing Lies

The idea is there but I’m pretty disappointed in a few things already.

First when I downloaded DietMealPlanner it said I could try it for 7 days before subscribing. It let me see everything for 1 day. Now all I can do is track what I eat. So absolutely no help in actually meal planning or shopping list. I wanted to try DietMealPlanner to see if it would actually help me but now I can’t because I’m not going to pay unless I know it will actually help.

When setting up my profile it lets me choose a few dislikes, but I have picky tastebuds and have a few more dislikes that I would have liked to enter. Especially since the menu for the first day almost every meal had things I don’t like already.

I am sure DietMealPlanner is made specifically for single people because it only shows servings for 1 or 2 people, but what about my child? What if I have guests? Am I going to have to get a pizza for them since I’m not going to take the time to calculate for myself the servings needed for any extra people besides myself and my husband.

Overall I’m disappointed mostly in the lie that I would be able to even try it for the time I was promised.

Free trial cost me almost $200

I wish I could give zero stars!!!

I have canceled more than once. I never used DietMealPlanner because I decided I didn’t like it the day after getting it and canceled then (during the free trial). I have been billed twice since then. I emailed to understand why months later I was still getting billed. They respond with a auto generated reply and stated I didn’t cancel. The first time I didn’t think to screenshot my cancellation but now I wish I would have. They stated they will not issue a refund. I’ve had to get a stop payment and put a block on my bank account because this company is unwilling to reverse the charges and continue to bill me. Horrible app please don’t waste your time and please don’t give them access to your bank account.

Ok if you’re single

The recipes are very cumbersome to double and quadruple for cooking for a family. I have very adventurous eaters who were more than willing to try out the new recipes with me. When I got the weekly shopping list I had to go into each recipe and figure out the quantities I would need for each item. Took forever. Plus translating .03oz of cumin. Really?! So not user friendly and I am very comfortable in the kitchen. Also- the pictures don’t match the item you are cooking so it adds an additional layer of uncertainty when you’re looking at an image and your food looks nothing like that. Took me a few days to realize what that was all about. Overall: The recipes were pretty flavorful but way too much work to execute. I won’t be renewing my subscription.

By

Amazing app!

So happy I purchased it. As a new vegan I’m super strict on making sure I eat enough everyday as well as the correct proportions! Also the projected shopping list is very convenient for those that are busy. Definitely recommend DietMealPlanner.

By

Don’t choose if you like varied flavour/recipe options

I signed up for the 6-month app because the discount was better, but when I realized that they didn’t have a great selection of recipes, tried to get in touch with the company, they told me I had to submit a refund request on the Apple store, which proceeded to tell me that my request didn’t qualify.

First off, any system that doesn’t allow for partial refunds stay away from. Second of all, experience with an app is just as important as DietMealPlanner itself! Save your money and search for a much better app!!!

By

No actual meal plan

So I was really disappointed to see that it just gives you a few options for each meal. And there was nowhere to input information if you were off the plan for a special occasion. I also didn’t like that it was difficult to unsubscribe. I had to go into my iTunes settings to do so before it charged me the $20. Too expensive for the features it offers

By

New

Just downloaded DietMealPlanner , scrolling & reviewing the menu. Everything looks great so far. Wish I could customize certain things like converting oz. to grams. Then customizing that according to my coach’s recommended amount of carbs, protein & fats. I’m totally looking forward to everything DietMealPlanner has to offer. Thanks!

By

Love it but they just want money

DietMealPlanner is the best so far but they are only looking for you to pay something

By

shouldn’t have to pay every month

I really loved the setup and everything. But then I found out you have to pay twenty dollars a month... disappointed because I was really looking forward to using this everyday.

By

So angry!!!

I am very frustrated with DietMealPlanner and the developers because they charged me for a 1 month subscription that I have not used nor did I want!!! I have tried to contact them but there is no phone number or email which makes me even more frustrated! If I could give a 0 out of 5 stars I would. Do not waste your time!

By

Perfect ideas

Glad I found it, makes my life easier

By

Love it !

Great app!! Just started using not to long ago but is really helping me. The workout app is a great addition to this one.

By

So far so good!

I just downloaded DietMealPlanner today. However, I am very impressed so far

By

First day just trying it

Hopefully this will help me out with my eating and weight loss goals

By

It’s so helpful

I like it easy to track ur progress

By

Honey is not Vegan!

It is added into the Vegan diet plan but it’s not Vegan. I’m not trying to be annoying about it I just think it’s incorrect and should be removed.

By

Great start

It is a good base program but, where is the actual meal plan. all I see is a another fancy calorie tracker not a meal plan.
Also can I get my money back since I subscribe and canceled on the same day?
