Keeps Crashing

I’ve never paid for an app before but I’m in school to become a Registered Diagnostic Sonographer and I needed something a bit more in-depth, yet, basically “dummy proof” in explaining blood vessel connections and course. If it can help all of these med students then surely it could help me. I wasn’t expecting CompleteAnatomy23 to do that and so much more. Honestly the best $37 ever spent. I don’t feel like I’m memorizing things either; when I gain an understanding of something then it sticks in my head so much better. With my textbooks and class lectures, I’ve just been flash carding everything in my head because alot of the information feels like disjointed information. With CompleteAnatomy23 I feel like relevances has been introduced for the first time.

I gave it three stars for one reason only: it keeps crashing. Again, I’m in school for sonography so being able to locate organs from the transverse view is important. I select the cross-section option in order to see the body habitus transversely and CompleteAnatomy23 closes out completely every time. It worked at first - I only discovered the cross-sectional view this morning but now at 5:30 in the evening it no longer works. An incredible bummer because CompleteAnatomy23 is actually the only reason I now understand what my textbooks have been showing me from that specific view. I honestly don’t need to make full use of all of the apps capabilities; the few things I do use it for are now only 50% operative. Please fix the crashing 🙏🏼

Great app but still needs more

I really enjoy CompleteAnatomy23 and find great utility with it in teaching not only the residents and students I work with but also showing the images to patients. I use it across platforms (iPhone, iPad and windows 10). This really helps the patients understand better their own anatomy. I use CompleteAnatomy23 extensively in teaching residents and students especially prior to performing injections. Unfortunately, it has come to my attention recently that both the dorsal scapular nerve and cluneal nerves are missing from CompleteAnatomy23 which is very unfortunate. One other feature I really wished this program allowed would be to lay the 3D model in a prone position, this would allow the user to see and approach the anatomy structures from the lateral aspect. It has been my experience that using CompleteAnatomy23 in a clinic teaching setting significantly helps the residents to develop a better image in their mind and helps them more when they are using ultrasound, understanding treatment options and performing injections. I gave only a four star review due to the missing anatomical structures.

(Pretty goot but one major flaw!) Edit-Amazing app!

I love Essent. Anatomy 5 and I immediately bought Complete Anatomy as soon as I got notice of it.
So far it is way better than EA5 but there is one thing that annoys me pretty much.
When you tap on a structure it automatically centers that scructure. So that means it zooms out for most of the bigger structures.
That makes working/learnin with CompleteAnatomy23 extremely frustrating because if you tap on the wrong structure it zooms out and then you have to zoom in again. That‘s especially annoying if you just want to klick onto different structures to see what they are named.
So please remove that automatic zoom or at least add an option in settings to turn that feature off!
Make it like in EA5 where you could press on a structure and the camera didn‘t move!
You will get 5* if you make that change!

Edit: They changed the feature!
Now CompleteAnatomy23 is so unbelievably amazing.
I study in 4. year medicine and I still use it nearly every day while I‘m studying (especially now while learning surgery)
CompleteAnatomy23 gets my complete recommendation for anybody who studies medicine, works in the medical field or simply is interested in medical structures. So basically it is great for everyone!
And amazing support btw!

Pretty good but

I’d like a cadaver “skin” option and they really should have thought the pop-up info window that takes up the entire screen in AR mode a little better.

Edit: To clarify, I mean “skin” not in the integumentary sense, but rather computer graphics sense. I’d like the option to turn on photorealistic shading, texture, and coloration that looks more like the cadavers do in the cadaver lab. Arteries and nerves the same color (more or less), veins blueish/black, etc. Basically I wish you could hit a button and turn it from “beautifully illustrated anatomy textbook” to look more like the Mark Nielsen/Shawn Miller cadaver photos lecture that they have available for purchase.

In an ideal world, they’d make the muscles floppy, flaccid, or even give the option to show what the muscle looks like when atrophied (like they often are with elderly donors in the lab), but this would be a pretty deep rewrite of the 3D models, compared to the more “doable” updating of the model textures.

Last gripe: I wish you could temporarily disable bones and muscles from being selected (while still having them visible for reference). I don’t have particularly fat fingers, but if I’m studying nerves, it’s almost impossible to select a nerve without zooming in 1000% just to make sure you’re don’t select the bone/muscles nearby instead.

Used this app to help pass exam

I became a licensed optician in the State of Idaho 2 years ago and Complete Anatomy was invaluable in terms of being able to see how eye muscles worked, pathologies of the eye (which my training material did not go into enough detail with) and the model of the eye that now shows tear ducts and cornea. I used CompleteAnatomy23 for over a dozen screenshots with detailed notes on both my iPad Pro and MacBook and it was seriously the best. Well done devs! I do hope to continue to see micro-anatomy models added; specifically I’d love to see the 5 layers of the cornea added as I use CompleteAnatomy23 weekly still to show patients how their eyes work such as the crystalline lens that becomes opaque causing cataracts.

So very good but also very annoying

I’ve looked far and wide for an excellent app to study brain anatomy. Primarily I want to learn the spatial relationships between the different structures of the brain. CompleteAnatomy23 is what I’ve been looking for and, bonus, it includes the rest of the body.

The thing that is most annoying, and I hope it gets fixed soon, is that the view resets itself often. By the view, I mean you can focus on particular parts and hide others. For me, I want the brain, and only the brain showing. And I’ll hide parts of the brain to ease my studies. It takes careful work to get to this point. I have to choose to show the nervous system, and hide other body systems. Depending on the complexity of the view you want, it can take 5-10 minutes or more to set it up.

What I’d love at this point is to be able to save the view. And then come back to it.

Instead, even with background app refresh on, if you switch to another app, let your screen turn off, etc., CompleteAnatomy23 will reset the view to the default view, which is the skeletal system.

So close to being so good, yet so far.

Take my money!

I’m a Physical Therapist and I use their Essential Anatomy 5 app almost daily in the clinic for patient education. This is a huge upgrade from what I can tell so far, with more detailed models, the ability to see labeled various landmarks on the bones, the ability to see hilighted muscle attachment sites, and many more educational features that I have yet to explore.

Their essential anatomy 5 app was probably my most valued app on the iPhone , and this one looks to be an even better version of that, better utilizing the amazing processing power our phones have. So far it looks fantastic.

Rotation is out of wack

The anatomy and graphics are great, but the rotation has totally turned me away from using CompleteAnatomy23 . When making a rotation about the y-axis by dragging one finger to the left or right, it doesn’t do a normal circular rotation (where after 360 degrees rotation you’re back where you started) but rather it does this weird elliptical rotation. For example, I’m looking at LIII from the anterior view and am rotating to get different views, but after rotating 90 degrees, LIII is no longer in view; complete the rotation (360 degrees) and I’m once again looking at the model from the front, but now I’m inside of the elbow, rather than back where I started. This “feature” is extremely annoying and it doesn’t have to be this way. For that reason I’m switching to EA5.

Very resourceful and accurate

I am a first year medical student. CompleteAnatomy23 has helped me organize locations in my brain so that it was much easier to locate the structures on the cadavers. It’s very, very accurate and the interface is fantastic. There are a few drawbacks though. I don’t understand why there is no option for a full female anatomy. This would help greatly as there are many structures that can be identified within the female breast. Also, the “lectures” are not really lectures. I purchased the cadaveric images, but they weren’t interactive as i thought they would be. I don’t recommend buying those. The 3D model is much more helpful. Overall CompleteAnatomy23 is great and is highly recommended for medical students or anatomy enthusiasts.

Great app for me but ...

I’ve been used the essential anatomy 8 on iphone and ipad for tow years and i upgraded to the complete anatomy for ipad when it released , its a great app for me as a dental student but and it’s great idea to get it on iphone ...... but when I downloaded CompleteAnatomy23 on iPhone and restore my purchase (the full version) it works well but when I close CompleteAnatomy23 and open it again i have to restore the purchase again and every time i close and open CompleteAnatomy23 , so when I’m offline i can’t use it anymore 💔💔.
I hope that you will fix this issue to make it perfect app 👌.
Sincerely
Osama

It Is very good at what it does have

I am very pleased with how much this has helped me as a student in anatomy. It goes very in depth with all the terms and definitions, and very rarely is there a term that I couldn’t find. So five stars for that
My only complaint is the lack of smaller in depth models for the eye, ear, and brain. Like what they have for the skin, blood vessels, etc... I know it’s hard for them to have literally everything but it would have been very useful to have when my classes went over those things... but great job on CompleteAnatomy23 !!!

Anatomy App Review

CompleteAnatomy23 is great! I used this for my college Anatomy class for a whole semester and I found it useful. It is able to give you an accurate and adjustable view of the nearly every structure in the human body. If you have trouble scrolling through your huge textbook, this is a great buy.

The in-app movement can be a bit tedious at times, especially the two finger movement. It is difficult to see certain structures from every angle. It is possible to isolate and view them that way, but it really takes away from what makes CompleteAnatomy23 so good, it’s simplicity.

Overall, I enjoy CompleteAnatomy23 and I would recommend it to friends.

Student midwife

I am feeling out on CompleteAnatomy23. I’m a visual learner and I wish I had known about CompleteAnatomy23 from the beginning of my training and education. I know this is a huge undertaking, but I’d eventually love to see if the following could be added: a combined pregnant and fetal model at various gestational stages. A combined fetal and pregnant models that allowed the ability to select different maternal pelvic shapes and the ability to select different fetal positions and levels of descent. That would be absolutely amazing.

Most Useful

CompleteAnatomy23 is absolutely the most useful app for studying anatomy I have seen. The entire line of 3D4Medical apps are highly useful. As a Kinesiology student and as a personal trainer CompleteAnatomy23 has allowed me to create highly detailed presentations for school, teach large groups of both children and adults about anatomy as it pertains to movement, and provides clear visuals for clients when I need them. I can’t imagine not having CompleteAnatomy23 on my phone.

High school level software

A very BASIC software that tries to impress you with color contrast rather than useful, in depth detail.
Once you purchase it, it tries to trap you with higher annual subscription rate where they promise you things, but will not allow you to try it for more than 72 hours (this including your sleeping time & your work time) in order to make you feel guilty that it’s your fault you did not utilize the software enough to see if it is worth the annual purchase.
I strongly suggest that you pass on this high school level software and instead put your money on a better anatomy software that delivers finer and detailed level of information without wasting the storage space on your phone

More detail; Uncertain if worth it

I do like CompleteAnatomy23 a lot, but I honestly don’t know that I like it more than essential anatomy, which I had purchased before getting complete anatomy.

It has several optional features, like exercises and movement of joints/muscle function, which is an improvement from essential anatomy. I also like that there is much more anatomical detail and options to select minute detail with respect to connective tissue, fascia, muscle layers, and neurovasculature.

There are several “classes” and videos, but many of them don’t los correctly, making their addition to CompleteAnatomy23 less valuable.

I have the iPhone X, but CompleteAnatomy23 still crashes and lags frequently. This drives me crazy and makes me want to switch back to essential.

Also, it doesn’t include vestibular structures, which I found surprising. I wish the developers would add this.

By

Incredible precision!

The detail is so exact, and anytime I am looking for an answer, I open CompleteAnatomy23. There hasn't been a time when I wasn't able to get the best information. Unfortunately, I recently purchased it on my iPad, but CompleteAnatomy23 will not load. It displays the loading screen, and I have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times, with no prevail. Overall, I would recommend this to anybody!

Can’t watch commercials to unlock features

I wish you could watch a commercial to unlock a bit of stuff for a limited time. I understand this is a great app and deserves money, but just some basic muscle to look at would have been nice, and commercials would still get them paid. This way people could pay full and never even see one, or get a super basic version by watching a few commercials.. Still, great app, though

Update Refuses to tell you what the upgrade costs

I appreciate that the developer answered this review and helped me out to find the prices.

I won’t lie to you this is a great app card they revealed at the price of the upgrade I could’ve decided if I want to get it or not but I have searched all over and they want me to down. Once you do the 1499 initial payment they want you to upgrade but refused to tell you,how much that will cost

I am a Massage Therapist, I recommend this app to all taking anatomy

Well worth the $20 for an individual device plan. I spend hours just exploring the anatomy of our body

(Edited) I still highly recommend CompleteAnatomy23! I would like to know if I can transfer my plan to another device and remove it from this one. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Essential Tool for A&P

I’ll keep this short and sweet. I’m a nontraditional undergrad in my first real A&P course since high school, which was nearly 20 years ago. This class is absolutely brutal, and the 2D diagrams in the textbook aren’t cutting it. CompleteAnatomy23 is a lifesaver.

By the way, the desktop version is just as amazing, and you get a sizable discount if you’ve already purchased this. I’d bet it works the other way around too.

Always Crashing

I bought CompleteAnatomy23 to use on my iPad and iPhone. It is always crashing and will never work for my iPhone no matter what I do. CompleteAnatomy23 is mostly a great resource when it works with the exception of studying the sensory organs, being able to look at the brain, not the skull portion which is where it always reverts back to when I tap on a structure. Plus there are no models of the eye or ear itself that I can view on the atlas. While a good resource, with its constant crashing and lack of above mentioned functionality, to me it wasn’t worth the money I paid for CompleteAnatomy23 and the student license. Very disappointed.

What happened?

Update: It’s working again, but I had to figure out how to fix it rather than being contacted by customer service after asking for help and leaving a 1-star review to get attention. Great app. Wish I hadn’t been without it for weeks when the update broke it.

It was working well, then I was upgraded to the ‘19 version, and I don’t have access to any navigation buttons or the ability to look at soft tissues. Help! 5 star before. 1 Star now.

Removed pathology feature?

One of my favorite aspects of CompleteAnatomy23 was the ability to show common pathology views. For example, if you clicked on a lumbar disc, it also showed herniation or extrusion. Since the nee update, I cannot figure out how to access this feature, but it seems to have been moved into the “conditions” videos, which require a more extensive subscription. Notwithstanding that feature change, it’s an excellent and comprehensive anatomy app

Med student

It's a great tool, but only if you want to study male anatomy. I wish I could have a complete female body as well. My cadaver is female so I was looking forward to using his to study and unfortunately this only allows you to view SOME of the female pelvis. There doesn't appear to be an option to toggle btw male and female. But even with the prospected female pelvis several of the structures are missing. This is GREATLY disappointing given how much I paid for this. You'd think Complete Anatomy would be Complete.

Definitely recommend.

This has been very helpful in studying for my anatomy practicums! Especially since we had limited access to the skeletal models beyond lab, it really helped to be able to rotate and examine individual bones in CompleteAnatomy23.

The quizzes were alright, sometimes they wouldn’t load all of the way.

This was the best anatomy app I found and it’s been an invaluable study aid.

Amazing

As a medical student I bought CompleteAnatomy23 to learn gross anatomy and it’s the most amazing app that has helped me get an A! Between the videos, quizzes, diagrams, 3D structures that you are able to view arterial, venous, skeletal, and muscle along with the AR mode where you can put whatever you want as a projection to make it look like the real thing. It has changed my life.
