Love this App, but DO NOT download Hi Daddy like it advertises..

I absolutely love the Hi Mommy app! This is our first pregnancy and we love daily “messages” from our little nugget! It’s very informative, feels personal, and very sweet! I get excited whenever my Hi Mommy notification goes off. My husband was wanting apps that would do the same and I saw Hi Daddy advertised in HiMommy . We thought it would be more informational about the baby and what’s going on during pregnancy for the dad to know. So I sent the link to him so our accounts would attach, her had to pay but we figured it would be worth it. WE WERE WRONG! The Hi Daddy app offers false information and is horrible. It is trying to be more comedic than informative. Our biggest upset is the false information. HiMommy told him I was in my last week of the first trimester at 9 weeks. Then told him at 9 weeks the baby was going twice it’s size everyday and was 2 inches long... But if you are a mom looking for an app for you, get Hi Mommy, it is amazing! Just don’t waste your time or money with Hi Daddy.

Great positive addition to other educational resources.

I love how HiMommy gives such a positive daily nugget about pregnancy everyday. Sure, it’s not a place to find all your information but I don’t think that was their purpose at all.
It’s helped me to look very positively at my pregnancy instead of hearing all the horror stories people tell me about painful birth and terrible pregnancy’s.
With it being free, I think it’s a great positive addition to other educational resources.

Egregiously, Factually Incorrect

Cutesy idea, but developers should consult some women and a scientist... it said in 3rd week of pregnancy that the heart starts beating. Huh? You mean... in the 6-7th week? And it said something like the embryo is 5x the size of a shrimp at 4 weeks pregnant. That wouldn’t be until the 2nd trimester. I’m honestly not even sure that’s what they were trying to say because the sentence had so many structural issues I can only assume it was translated from another language to English. ***Worst part*** Also, speaks to an audience of women with male partners. In 2020, there are so many types of expectant parents from single moms to single sex male couples and everything in between. It also insisted at 4 weeks pregnant that I tell “the father” about the pregnancy. I actually felt like someone was wagging a finger at me that maybe I had told a friend before my partner. It was so weird. Not only is that going to be the likely first choice for most people with partners, it’s such a weird thing to even say. It’s a personal choice to share their news with literally whoever on earth they please. So, so bizarre. So clearly written by men.

Cute idea, mediocre execution

Love the idea of getting daily messages from my baby. But the wording of some of the messages can be pretty judgmental and rude. For example, today the advice telling me to start incorporating perennial massage was phrased as “you do want to avoid an episiotomy, don’t you?” Pretty unnecessary phrasing when it could be said in a much kinder way, like “doing this will decrease your chance of tearing or needing an episiotomy.”

Edit: bumped up one star after I realized there was an option for single and same sex parents. Wish that option was made clearer in the settings, though, since it took me almost 30 weeks to find it. If the default label was changed from “mother” to “mother with a male partner” or something like that, it’d be easier to find.

English translation is bad

HiMommy is cute! It’s fun to get daily updates and be kept up to date with some milestones and facts; however, the English translation is pretty bad. “Mom, tap here when I will born” is an example and some of the things they say in the updates are a little strange.

The weight range is terrible as well. It will really mess up your mind thinking you’re largely over or under where you should be in terms of weight. Literally every pregnancy is different and heathy no matter if they gain 20 pounds or 60 pounds. There should be an option to just log your weight without saying you’re too heavy or too light.

Other than that, I’ve used it for 9 months and have still enjoyed it!

Great App! - One Suggestion

HiMommy was great to use throughout my pregnancy, it gave me something to look forward too and was another small way to connect to my son. I also appreciate and really like the postpartum feature that gives me daily info on my Nugget. I enjoyed HiMommy so much my partner downloaded the HiDaddy! App to get notifications with me. The only suggestion I would make would be for a similar follow up for dads too. My partner misses his daily updates/facts, so much so we just set him up with the this app! just so he could get new updates with me. We’re new parents and this is our first so it would be nice to have more new dad support too!

Cute, helpful, tho outdated

I like HiMommy because gives me ideas and info when I was pregnant and also with baby. However take it with a grain of salt as some stuff seems weird and outdated. I’d recommend HiMommy just as a “nice to have” but don’t take it too literally.

They also use outdated language like assuming that the partner is a dad and not another mom. Also assuming there is even a dad in the picture. It excludes same sex or single parent homes. Therefore I don’t recommend this to most of my friends or I just give them that caveat.

That said, I do like there is a hi daddy version. Helps for two parent straight couples (like most things are geared toward 🙄). Just wish it was more inclusive.

Weird Description/Wrong GA

HiMommy was okay... although it always counted the gestational age wrong by one day. Let’s say I was 10 weeks, it would never say “10 weeks” it would always skip from “9 weeks 7 days” to “10 weeks 1 day.” It was always really buggy in that aspect. Which was fine because I enjoyed the daily updates. UNTIL now.. today my update said something along the lines of “if I’m a girl my ovaries are getting bigger and if I’m a boy my penis is getting longer ;)” WITH THE WINKY FACE AND ALL. I don’t know I just really find it odd how they said it and how they decided to throw in the winky face. Too many positive reviews of HiMommy for the weird winky faces and odd descriptions. If I could give 0 stars I would, gave me the creeps.

Love it

I love how there is something new every day. It’s nice for the moms who like to check in on pregnancy apps everyday. I like that you can connect with a hi daddy app (even though my husband won’t 🤪).
The only complaint I have is it wouldn’t let me use my email from my last pregnancy with this pregnancy. I had to use a new one. 🤷🏻‍♀️That might have been me though.

Not single-parent friendly

I liked the simple format of HiMommy versus others that I’ve seen but every single message has a comment about “dad” literally every single day. I understand that the typical family includes two parent families, but families are becoming more and more diverse with same-sex parents, and single montherhood. If I had the option to remove those comments, I may have considered keeping HiMommy , but for a mom who is very excited to be having her own baby, despite it being a product of an abusive relationship, it’s very upsetting to be constantly reminded that someone is “missing” from the picture.

Love this app during pregnancy!

I absolutely loved HiMommy during my 2nd pregnancy. It was a different one from apps I had the first time around and the daily updates were cute and informative.

Postpartum, I still have it and get the updates but as a mom who is not breastfeeding, it is a bit frustrating that the last week has only been information on that. I feel like it should be an option to put in after delivery.

By

Cute and Informative!

The notifications sound like a happy cooing or laughing baby. Informative tips through the week. Some of the prompts are worded a little threateningly (“Better start stretching, you dont want an episiotomy do you?”...“If you feed me too much at birth you’ll have a lot of messes to clean up” type stuff) but overall very cute and informative!

Best pregnancy app

I have several pregnancy apps but This is by far my favorite one. It’s so informative and not to mention super cute. Yes it makes you pay for a subscription after a certain amount of weeks I was hesitant to do but it’s so worth it I’m glad I did. It unlocks all the cool features. I definitely recommend HiMommy over others

App is probably better for Apple Watch

I love the interface which is why I still have it, and the fact that it syncs to baby daddy’s app but it’s not even kind of as informative as my other apps. I still like to use it in addition to the other apps for fun though. If it were as informative as Ovia I would delete all my other apps, all 4 of them. also If I so happen to get an Apple Watch this would be the only pregnancy app I use on it

My favorite of my three preg apps

HiMommy is simple yet so effective. Some of the other ones can be to much. This one is simple yet so informative. I love that it’s a daily update! Most of the others are more on a weekly update basic. Well worth whatever I paid for the subscription, glad I did.

Watch complication does not work

I tried to contact the developer but there was not a way to do so on the website so here I am. HiMommy is alright- I do enjoy the little daily reminders even though some are pretty silly. I mostly got HiMommy so I could see a tracker on my Apple Watch with my pregnancy progress. I downloaded HiMommy at 17 weeks and I am now 19 weeks and the 17 has stayed on the complication for 2 weeks. If I tap it I can see the actual progress but it should be adjusting automatically on the watch face without opening HiMommy itself.

First time mommy (:

Being a first time mom HiMommy makes it more exciting. You get to sent your alarm for when u would like to receive the messages and for me that’s 6am. First thing when opening my eyes I think about my baby and with HiMommy it’s helps bring that connection. I love it so much! Thank you. (:

Best app ever!!!

I love that being the grandma, I am as well part of the journey with my daughter and her pregnancy. From a mom to be, dad or grandma we are all learning together baby’s development and we can see progression with the baby bump pics and daily journal as well. HiMommy is very informative and a must have for all moms to be! Or new grandma’s like me!!

Not accurate

I really wanted to like HiMommy, but somewhere in the first few age they switch from typical counting of age (e.g. first date of last period) to actual age post conception, so all of their daily facts are off by a few weeks. I had about six apps running to decide on the best one and this one was highly disappointing cause I loved the concept but it’s completely inaccurate as far as what it’s telling you about the fetus’s growth. :/ I emailed them to give feedback and ask questions a few time and never heard back.

Cutest baby app, ever! 🍼

I love the daily reminders and how HiMommy is so functional. I especially love that you have the ability to journal, or just write a quick note to baby on how you’re feeling that day!

I’ve used HiMommy for both of my pregnancies & It’s literally the cutest baby app I’ve used thus far! 💛

Insensitive

You would think after all the negative reviews from people talking about the constant reminder to get daddy involved that you would edit HiMommy . My husband is involved in this pregnancy but I was a single mother before I married him and there was no father in the picture. I would’ve hated to be reminded of that daily. That should be an option you can add by changing a setting. Not something that is going to hound you every day. This is a mommy app and it’s all about daddy.

Love this app

It’s one thing to find out you’re pregnant and wanting to know what’s going on with the baby. But one thing I didn’t expect from HiMommy is the daily messages from the baby. It makes it all surreal and fall in love more. Plus the updates on the baby’s status is so awesome! Thank you. :)

By

So cute

I really love HiMommy due to the fact that it’s so cute. I love that it’s set up to feel like your baby is actually talking to you everyday, and giving you small details about what’s going on everyday. The baby noises when you click on the photo of the baby are the BEST part. Great app for the cute and fun factor.

Overall okay.....but

Overall okay, but HiMommy needs to stop reminding me to invite my baby’s dad to participate in the experience. I don’t appreciate the ongoing friendly reminders that go on for the term of the 40 weeks, reminding me he doesn’t want to participate. HiMommy needs to be more single mom friendly, even though I understand that’s not the norm.

By

Inaccurate Descriptions

Not sure if this is just a glitch on my app... but the descriptions of baby’s development are wayyyyy off. It will tell me my baby has fingernails or toes when my baby just barely has limb buds. It’s like somebody who knows nothing about babies is just making random “facts” up to hype up new moms. I did give 2 stars because it’s pretty cute, but that’s the only real pro of HiMommy over an accurate one.

By

Good information but annoying “reminders”

I got HiMommy to learn more about what’s happening during my pregnancy, but half the time the messages include some version of “my baby” reminding me to eat healthy and exercise. I guarantee pregnant moms are all doing the best they can in those areas, please limit the tidbits to actual info about the baby, thanks.

This is MY experience

Although I enjoyed the daily updates and reminders about my little one’s progress, I deleted HiMommy because of the constant “daddy” oriented messages. Babies come from ALL circumstances and relationships; they are always a blessing, whether there is a daddy or not. The last thing an emotional pregnant woman needs is steady reminders of how her situation is different. Why have a separate app for Dad’s if the mom app is going to include and mention him constantly?
