No Guilt Trips

As someone who has struggled mentally to fix my body after a few years of neglect, I never could commit to any regimen (digital or otherwise) that would assist me. Unlike other apps, this one doesn’t guilt trip you for missing workouts. More importantly, it lets you pay what you want to keep using it! Don’t worry, there’s still plenty to try our before spending $0.99 (or more), but it’s a guilt free way to make incremental change. No phony inspirational coaches and no gimmicks. Just a clear cut, easy to understand workout regimen.

Two (very nit picky) suggestions:
1) Allowing users to preview workouts in advance
2) occasionally, my music volume will remain low after the voice timer speaks

Perfect for beginners or those who are getting back into running

StartRunningForBeginners has been great for me. The map tracks accurately. Allows you to play music and run StartRunningForBeginners without crashing or malfunctions. I really like the gradual nature of how it builds your endurance back up. You’ll find yourself wanting to go back out and clock a little more rather then feeling burnt for days and losing motivation to keep at it. Even got my wife on board with me and she’s not a huge fan of running vs knee pain. StartRunningForBeginners helps her not push too far as well. 👍🏼 nice work on StartRunningForBeginners !

Return To Running

I have been running off and on (more off than on) for years. Running with a puppy is not always easy, and the ability to pause my run to attend to her needs is very helpful. The countdown and notifications during each walk/run segment makes each run easier. It’s helpful to have an overview of each run prior to starting my run, and my endurance builds with each session, which increases my confidence to run a 5K and beyond. The statistics reflects the progress being made during each run, along with overall progress. I highly recommend StartRunningForBeginners for anyone interested in becoming (or returning as) a runner.

Best run/walk app I have found

Have tried others in the past that did not work as well. This program increases at a right that pushes me but does not feel undoable. In the past i get discouraged by workouts being so difficult that I could barely complete them and the progression of StartRunningForBeginners has been the most manageable by far. I went from not being able to run for more Than a few minutes to being able to run for 45 minutes continuously through the use of StartRunningForBeginners, all over the course of the summer. Lost 30 pounds in the process!

Awesome App

Was out of the run game due to injury for a few years. Turned to weight training in lieu of running. Finally, wanted to get back my enjoyment of running only to find that I could not run hardly at all still bc of pain and lack of aerobic conditioning. I started using StartRunningForBeginners and found it challenging but effective. I now look fwd to running and am half way thru the program but feel so motivated for what I have accomplished. I look forward to finishing the program and being able to take long Saturday runs again like I could in my military days.

Working my way back

I had to stop my running (okay, jogging) routine for 6 months while undergoing cancer treatment. Came out the other side ready to pick up where I left off, but found (to no one’s surprise) that I no longer had the stamina to run.

StartRunningForBeginners has been bringing me back to my former slow-but-steady form at a pace I can handle. I’m so happy to have found it!

It doesn’t have a lot of bells, whistles, and pre-programmed encouraging phrases, but I like that it alerts me each minute that goes by. I can’t wait to find out how it gets me from running a certain amount of time to running a certain distance.

Initial review

StartRunningForBeginners is very simple to use. Has different running workouts unlocked at the start. You can start with level 1 which keeps getting more intense every passing day so it is a good way to work your way up to level 3. You get notified for every change and every min and half way through so you don’t need to check your phone while using StartRunningForBeginners . All in all a great combo running app and you can also unlock freestyle running.

Simple and straight forward

I was looking for a simple, straight forward app to help me get back into a running program. It is doing just that. Downside is it is only designed for outdoor running though and I have been doing all my running on the treadmill so it does not accurately calculate my pace or distance. I like that it gives you prompts for when to run/walk so I can listen to my music and not have to be looking at the timer to know when to start running/walking again. I do wish the voice prompt was a little louder.

Simple and User Friendly

I really like StartRunningForBeginners. I used to use it and then I fell off the wagon. When I hopped back on and started running again I tried other apps but I found myself missing this one. The interface is simple and user friendly. The interval workouts gradually increase which is nice to build up stamina. I just needed something to log my workouts, I didn’t want all the extra stuff. I also really like the map feature.

Love it

I have been using StartRunningForBeginners off and on for the last year and I love how I can stop and stay on a certain day for longer periods to get used the pace. I have not been running everyday which is why going back a certain training is great. I love how It beeps to warn me the amount of time that is left on a workout...

Great App!

I am not a runner at all! And StartRunningForBeginners has really helped me start this journey the best way possible. I have been able to accomplish all the running intervals and it keeps me motivated. My favorite part is how while you are running they give you 3 seconds of beeps to tell you that you are about to run, about to stop running etc as well as giving you an update of how long you have left, 4 minutes, 3 min, 2 min etc. overall a really great set up!

Great app

StartRunningForBeginners is great for beginner runners it is gradual it is simple and to the point One thing that will take it out the roof for me would be adding a metronome that could help me with my pacing I don’t know how fast I should be going are usually start off fast and then gradually get slower LOL. And I hate having three different apps running my metronome app StartRunningForBeginners and my music app. But making it work anyway Fantastic app

Literally from not running at all to run more than 5K per day

I’m in love with StartRunningForBeginners and recommend it to all my friends. I used to hate running because I got tired really fast. StartRunningForBeginners helped me believe that I can do it by simply taking me one minute at a time. I’m now running 40 minutes, 40!!! Got Me Going

I have never been a runner and this is my favorite fitness app. If you stick with the program it really works. I took less rest time between sessions than suggested and challenged myself through different terrains. I like you you can make your own interval course as well. I surprised myself with my results. Have shared it with friends and 100% recommend.

Great motivator

StartRunningForBeginners was perfect for me coming back from a serious knee injury. I got out of shape quick with my knee injury. When recovering I felt so discouraged not being able to run for very long. StartRunningForBeginners gave goals I felt happy achieving to get back into the shape I want to be in. Not an app for serious runners. But for those trying to get into shape this gives good progression to get to your goals.

Great App

I really enjoy StartRunningForBeginners. It lets me know when to run and when to walk. The greatest thing I appreciate are the markers (beeps) as it alerts you when to start/stop and if running longer than a minute how much longer you have left. It makes running a lot easier so I don’t have to check my phone or anything like that.

LOVE THIS APP!!!!

StartRunningForBeginners is amazing! A couple of years ago I was diagnosed with cancer and lost a lot of physical strength. But I am out of treatment and ready to get back into better shape! One of the better ones

I was using another run training app, but it jumped from running 1 minute in a row, to running 5, which I couldn’t do. I found this one & I love the way it gradually increases. I still struggle some, but that’s just me! It’s a very simple app, nothing fancy, but it gets the job done & I'm excited to see how much better I can get with my running!

Great!

Never been a runner except when my sports did it as conditioning. But after college, I started sleeping terribly, being more emotional and stressed, and obviously gained weight/lost muscle. The name of StartRunningForBeginners is spot on with this one. If you aren’t a runner but want to be, StartRunningForBeginners is for you. It starts easy then gradually gets harder to build your stamina. StartRunningForBeginners has audio as well to let you know when to run and when to walk. For best use, run on a track but a treadmill works too.

Just started and it works!

Great App!

Best free running app I found

I like that I can listen to music while using StartRunningForBeginners . The running intervals work well. I have to keep resetting my workout because I can’t run the amount it says I should be running. I think the calorie count is based on the workout and not your actual calories burnt.
