So I don’t usually rate things but...

PelagoHealth actually helped me quit. Not only quit though, but change my mentality to become a non smoker. It was actually easy for me too, I went cold turkey. I’ll give you background, if smoked for ten years, two packs a day for most of it. I was kind of a chain smoker. I kind of got tired of isolating myself to places where I could smoke. It was hard to sit through a movie, go to friends houses, rent a car, go on a plane trip.. cigarettes were ten dollars a pack! Things weren’t looking good. So I started looking for ways to quit:
PelagoHealth uses cognitive behavioral therapy, and is had good experiences with that while in high school, CBT helped me work through my anxiety. So to know you could quit with CBT was worth a try to me.
I was scared though, that I would be deathly uncomfortable after I stopped smoking, but I wasn’t: we make our own experiences. I really didn’t think it would be so simple. I didn’t use patches or any nicotine replacement therapy, I thought I’d just give it a go.
The first time I tried to just cut down to nothing, but someone told me if I have the self control to do that, then I can simply quit just as easily, if not easier. So that’s what I ultimately did.
I used the premium version, but I think one can also use the free version just fine.

To the developers of PelagoHealth and this program, thank you! You might have saved my life, but for certain you’ve improved my life a great deal.

Was better before

It’s been about a year and a half since I used this last. It helped me quit smoking but some rough stuff happened and I started again and abandoned PelagoHealth. Now here I am looking to quit again so I start using PelagoHealth again because it helped so much last time.

It’s changed completely and not really in a good way. There used to be a handful of mini sessions to listen to when craving which were a tremendous help that were free and other ones you had to have the subscription to use that were also helpful. The subscription price has also gone up quite a bit. I don’t really use the personal coach and really just want the little sessions. But they are all locked. So are the after quitting sessions. It’s very disappointing that something that was amazing before has just gone down.

The price isn’t the worst if you are a regular smoker but all I wanted was those craving sessions. They helped a lot and the only way to use them and really anything in PelagoHealth is with the subscription. There used to be a variety of subscription types but now there’s just one. It’s just disheartening.

From great to terrible in one update.

I did actually quit smoking thanks to PelagoHealth. Unfortunately the positive reinforcements that helped me quit in the first place have stated working against me since the last update. At the end of each day I am used to tap the “no” button where PelagoHealth asks you “Have you smoked today?”. After you confirm you haven’t smoked you receive a badge and an inspirational message of sort. It seems like a small thing but it helped me stay smoke free for several weeks together with the counter. The problem is since the last update each time I try to select “no” PelagoHealth crashes, so I get zero badge è zero inspirational message. And what’s even more frustrating is that if you select “yes” (which to be clear it means you have slipped and you did smoke) PelagoHealth doesn’t crash, making me feel like PelagoHealth now wants me to fail! My craving have gotten much worse since this glitch appeared and I don’t want to reinstall PelagoHealth because I don’t want to lose my progress.

Tricky Advertising

Sounds great at first as the first thing to do when setting up PelagoHealth is you’re walked through paragraphs of motivational text and basics of CBT that frame your journey in a positive light. Sounds great!!

Then, Halfway through the process you’re smacked with a page begging you to subscribe (like everything else nowadays, *sigh*). There is seemingly no real option to opt out, only opt in: either you press the giant blue Continue button (once again, halfway through setting up PelagoHealth ) or just find the sneaky little x in the far corner. If you do not subscribe you’re left with the setting up prompt on the home page (4/10) and can only log entries- might as well use the Notes app already on your iPhone or something.

Funniest thing was PelagoHealth touting on about and calculating how much I would save using PelagoHealth and not buying vaping pods- PelagoHealth would actually be more expensive than I would save quitting by your date🥴🤣🤣🤣

Account Trouble

Hello, I have been loving PelagoHealth and today is actually my first day of quitting. I have been subscribed and now suddenly it isn’t giving me access to anything. I don’t know why it’s locking me out or how to fix it. Even trying to change the subscription (which I would rather not have to do if I don’t have to) will not help because it won’t actually change until the subscription I have cancels. My account shows I’m subscribed but PelagoHealth doesn’t think I am for some reason. Please help me!

Premium is great!

PelagoHealth definitely works, I finally quit smoking after trying all different types of things like 1,000 times, but what makes it work, at least for me, is paying for the premium so you get access to a quit coach. Having someone to chat at, and be held accountable to, when you’re craving is waaaay better than the exercises, although they are good too.

Premium is kind of expensive, like $40 for 3 months, but cheaper than smoking! And your quit coach gives you customized guidance and advice on how to handle your specific situations. It’s really nice to feel like you have someone in your corner in the fight against smoking.

If you don’t want to pay the $40 then just try PelagoHealth . It’s still super good. But, if you can swing it get the premium because it makes it so much easier.

Great app to get started

I am beginning my journey to being a non-smoker...again. I have attempted this goal many times and have always slipped back into the addiction. But this time I am motivated and have hope for life long success. Why PelagoHealth? Because it is teaching me a new way of thinking. There is no pressure. You take your own time to prepare for your quit day and do it when you feel ready. You get tools to help, advice from those who have been there, and an accountability system for your behavior and thinking related to smoking. I feel confident in my success this time. I am excited to come to the point where cigarettes no longer consume my thoughts and my health!

How much do you pay to smoke

I haven’t even tried this thoroughly yet but honestly idc if they charge. Most of us pay hundreds of dollars a month to smoke and that is just the cost of cigarettes. Do you know how much money chemo costs??

I am a Substance Abuse Counselor and I see asking people to invest financially as well as effort makes them more invested. Some treatment is free and it’s not about making money - it’s about how much more motivated we as humans are when we’re paying for something. We use it because we “want our moneys worth”
Stop complaining and looking for an excuse to keep smoking. I’ll pay $2 a month all day long - that’s about the cost of my morning smoke sessions!

Finally!!

I have thoroughly researched CBT and have long known it was a very effective way to achieve my goal. The problem: it is not always easily accessible, affordable or easy to fit into life’s other demands such as work, running errands, etc.

The solution has arrived! Here you have a dedicated team that is truly looking out for you and your success. The Steps are easy to follow and understand, the cost is beyond fair and affordable and you also get the added benefit of group support from people going through the exact same thing. It is very common to see the team behind PelagoHealth responding to messages in the main group with words of encouragement and celebrating your successes with you!

More than good enough to use on its own, but also great as a compliment with other methods such as medications (Chantix) and nicotine replacement therapy (gums and patches) as smoking is more than just physical, it is also psychological. In order to truly break free, you have to address the mental aspects behind addiction.

Wish there were more stars to give!

Not yet

I have been reading to reviews and quite simply I wish there were free information. Believe me I know how much cigs cost. It seems if this is a doctor trying to get us to stop it would be free. Tapping on apps makes money right? Maybe I’m being cynical but I have been given the tools to quit from an addiction specialist that as a friend she did not charge. I am 64 will be 65 shortly and I AM tired of it and I have tried so many times with so many aids. So far I start off well and end up right back where I started. While I may download PelagoHealth to see what is free but at this point I’m so disappointed in myself as well as the plans I’ve used so far. I will update a review after seeing what there is in the free part.

Long time smoker

I just passed the 6 month mark of being smoke free. PelagoHealth really helped me early on and was worth the price. I used every tool that was available that first few weeks, and it made all the difference for me. I continue to use the free version to measure my progress and the articles are still available to me if I need reminders or refreshers. The only bad thing is that I did gain a lot of weight (which actually has also kept me from smoking during challenging times!)So now I’m in search of a program similar to this for weight loss.

Mediocre

I had such high hopes for PelagoHealth! Especially since it was Apple recommend. I was neither impressed not disappointed with the free stage, but it was a lot of reading I scrolled through, and was kind of hoping the smoking “diary” would of had more options, and been more through. I quit smoking cold turkey when I became pregnant and thought I’d never smoke again. Obviously not the case, so for me finding out what triggers me to crave the cigarette would be an effective way to fight it. I also have received 50+ emails asking me to sign up for premium in 24 hours. And when I hit unsubscribe, I am taken to the main website, where there is no link I have been able to locate to unsubscribe. Irritating!

BEST approach to quitting

I’ve tried quitting smoking many ways (nicotine patch, gum, ecigs, cold turkey). This is the ONLY method that has stuck. It utilizes CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy) to help you analyze and reevaluate your smoking patterns.

After completing the FREE first section, I paid for the subscription—Worth eVeRy penny. I love how quick and easy the program is. My favorite element is the Cravings Tool Box (perfect when you think you might slip up). I’ve always craved cigarettes when drinking alcohol, and now I know why—Better understanding the chemical interactions and how they trigger my brain is so helpful!

10/10 would definitely recommend

Can’t even get in :\

I’m not going to give it too low of stars as I haven’t tried PelagoHealth . Right after opening it tells me to log in, I don’t have an account I just downloaded PelagoHealth .. I clicked ‘forgot password’ and it said ‘not quite’. I tried to put my email and new password into the login and it says ‘not quite’ again. Am I supposed to make an account online then try to login with it? Even if that’s the solution it seems like so much extra work when I could just do it on PelagoHealth .
There’s nothing else to click on the screen, it’s fully updated and honestly it’s just a little aggravating.

Awesome!

PelagoHealth filled in as life cheerleader to my “non smoker” journey. I was a smoker for about a decade and struggled to quit successfully for about a year. Since I used PelagoHealth, I haven’t bought a pack of cigarettes in 4 months! Gaining the knowledge behind my own thoughts and actions towards smoking was very helpful for me and the daily updates kept me on track. It also told me how much money I’d saved daily by not buying cigarettes which helped me to find real worth in the price of PelagoHealth itself. I recommend PelagoHealth to all my smoker friends!

Yes, I’ll Pay

I can’t believe people are complaining about paying $3 a month to quit smoking! Is that not worth it? How much is a pack of cigarettes in YOUR town? (In Chicago, they’re over $10!!) I suspect that those who don’t want to pay for PelagoHealth really don’t want to quit smoking anyway and are using it as an excuse. And that’s fine! There are plenty of “free” quit smoking apps out there. Personally, it looks like a great app. I like the interface, the community, etc., and $3 a month is a small price to pay for the benefits I want to have as a non-smoker. I’m in!

Would recommend in addition to..

I would definitely recommend this to anyone who’s thinking about quitting smoking. The modules are well done and so soothing to listen to. It made me want to listen more and more. It teaches you to understand and focus on the mental side of becoming a non-smoker. I smoked for 20+ years until I found PelagoHealth. For me it took nicotine patches + nicotine gum for 30 days and after that cold turkey, all while using Quit Genius. I’ve been a non-smoker for 10 months and looking forward to celebrating that 1 year. Thank you Quit Genius!

definitely definitely recommended

If you really want to quit smoking, I definitely definitely definitely recommend PelagoHealth, it has everything you need, literally everything and it will keep you on track, it even has a its own info for quitting vaping or cigarettes and it has a test at the end. Also its has all kinds if vapes models and everything about them, i have never seen any app this useful in my life. Def download it and its worth of the money.

Fix the bug problem

So I have my plan and I'm using quit genius to help. I'm logging how many times I smoke but there's some glitch that multiply's some. I added a log at the end of the night the past few nights and I looked today to find out PelagoHealth says I smoked 20 more than I actually did for two days ago and 12 more than I actually did yesterday. I've questioned the number it Said in the past but figured I was just misremembering but I known what I started each of the past couple days with and so I know what my numbers were. Please fix this issue.

Working

So far PelagoHealth is working. I like the quit coach feature and the Community is super helpful. This is the first time I’ve tried quitting for real after 21 years of heavy smoking and I’m 3 days quit. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without PelagoHealth . I would recommend anyone serious about quitting to try it. It’s a pay app but it’s cheaper than the cigarette in your hand right now.

Much improved. (update)

Old review is below, but figured I’d update. I stuck with PelagoHealth , and although I still find the Premium upsell touchpoints annoying, I’m raising my rating because I haven’t encountered any aggravating bugs in the more recent updates, and more importantly - I’ve found that even sticking with the free tier, PelagoHealth works. It’s a good way to quit smoking.

——

I really wanted to love PelagoHealth. Even met one of the founders at a YC event. However, PelagoHealth UX is just terrible. Almost every screen contains a surprise button that will bring up a full screen salepage for the subscription/premium service. Tapping “No, ask me later” in the “Log your cigarettes” section immediately triggers PelagoHealth rating prompt, every single time. And twice, I’ve gotten into views somehow with no buttons, and no way out except killing PelagoHealth (this is on an iPhone XS Max). Very disappointing!

Money Grab

I was really excited while reading about PelagoHealth, but their payment plan setup is incredibly overpriced and sneaky...they offer a three day trial, but you’re obviously not going to quit smoking in 3 days, so you pay the 20 dollars, fine. But, whether successful in quitting or not, people will inevitably forget PelagoHealth ever existed after a month or so, while the contract gives the company permission to continue charging every three months indefinitely.

Clearly, these men are intelligent and knowledgeable about how people think, and they used those skills to craft a very efficient means of getting as much money out of people as possible.

I believe your response above that you are trying to raise funds for the project, which is admirable, but that doesn’t excuse dishonesty.
