Awesome branch at Ford/Canton Center

I’m writing this five star review because I was very impressed with your teller (namely Liz) and her ability to recognize a customers need and then to help that customer fulfill that need.
As I stood in line (very quick 1 person line!) I was (originally) not sure what to make of the previous customers interaction and satisfaction or lack of?... but when I was being taken care, I quickly realized that this professional & efficient lady had no qualms also helping... including me with a new feature of the TCF app which was going to allow me to save time rather than having to hand delivering a check to another financial institution but to do it on TCFBank . New feature similar to a wire transfer but no charge!!! She was thorough enough to double check their routing number also.
Very nice & knowledge people at this branch always. Thank you again Liz.




It doesn’t automatically log in with Face ID. I have to tap a button first.

I love TCFBank, but I just got an iPhone 11 as an upgrade from an iPhone 6s. With the iPhone 6s, I would launch TCFBank and I’d be automatically prompted for Touch ID. With iPhone 11, I launch TCFBank and nothing happens. I have to touch the Face ID button in TCFBank in order to log in with Face ID.

While this isn’t exactly a major problem, it’s still annoying because I’ve been accustomed to the Touch ID prompt coming up automatically for over a year now. So, I’m writing this review to complain about it because I’m not finding any other way to contact TCF about this. So TCF, please respond. Please help. I want TCFBank to log me in my face ID automatically. I don’t want to have to tap that button every single time because to me it doesn’t make any sense since I never had to do that with Touch ID. The EBT edge app automatically logs me in with Face ID when I launch it, so I don’t understand why your app can’t do that.

Pretty awesome

TCFBank has features to check your deposit and/or savings account, check purchases and payments on your accounts, has a mobile deposit option, an option to transfer money to and from your checkings and savings account, and for budgeting. I don’t really use the budgeting or transferring parts, but the rest works. TCFBank hasn’t ever shut down or frozen on me, and I do use it pretty regularly. The fingerprint login is so useful and fast, and if you download TCFBank , you definitely should try it. TCFBank in itself is just easy, quick, and effective, and one of the only apps I’ve ever taken the time to write a review for lol




Won me back

I honestly thought I was done banking with TCF bank until I spoke to Heidi from Plymouth. I was a very angry person at the beginning of the call but that all changed by the end. Heidi listened to my rant and took her time to address my concerns. I was having problems with my deposits and my transactions and was feeling very mislead. Heidi took the time to explain everything on my account and even walked me through a couple features on the mobile banking app that would help me track everything better and provide a more detailed view of my funds compared to calling the number on the back of the card and tracking stuff through there. Many times I have thought of switching over to a different bank but Heidi won me back




Love tcf bank

I love it that theres an app for tcf now so its way easier for me to access my bank accounts. I uses to just go to my laptop and go to your website to log in. Or go to safari or google from my phone and do the same time which is less easier than having TCFBank itself. I just use facetime id to get in. I see my balances and transactions. I can transfer money into my accounts on my phone while sitting on the toilet. I can take a pic of a check and deposit it on TCFBank . I just wish you have a feature where i can input another person’s TCF accounts if i want to deposit money into them.




Great improvements!

Have been with TCF almost ten years and have seen a few changes. The mobile banking app is outstanding and that's a big deal for this non-techie senior! The level of customer service is second to none. I was concerned when they closed many of their service locations in Jewel stores but I find the level of service has actually improved. If I do need to speak with someone in person I use the Mundelein branch. They are incredibly courteous and responsive in all aspects.




Check Deposit

It looks like check deposit feature has been removed from TCFBank . This is a major feature for many who only have one bank and have no need for the newly added interbank transfer!

Update - TCF Bank unhelpful in resolving this matter. Still not seeing Check Deposit option on my iPhone. Updated iOS, deleted and reinstalled TCF app. Still cannot find the option, even after checking everywhere in the other menu options to see if it might be hidden. Terrible service.

Further Update - Yes I’m outside the country. Now I know the reason why the check deposit option is absent from the menu. Perhaps you should add that for international travelers since you may have customers who only have TCF as their only bank and thus are unable t make any inter-bank transfers. Thank you.

Final Update - I’m back in the country now, and I do see the Check Deposit feature. But please do keep in mind making this option available when TCF customers are traveling abroad. Thank you!




Mobile deposit function missing??

My favorite and most-used function of TCFBank has always been mobile deposit, which was easily accessible from the dashboard as soon as I signed in. Today, when I opened TCFBank , that option seems to have disappeared — I can no longer see it on my dashboard, and can’t seem to find it anywhere else within TCFBank (which is rather confusing to navigate). Other recent reviews mention using this function without issue, or sometimes with minor issues, but no one else appears to be missing this function entirely. What is going on?? And how can I now deposit my check, which I’d already labeled as “For TCF Mobile Deposit Only”?? This is highly frustrating to say the least. Very disappointed.




App unable to read properly

TCFBank is unable to read the check properly, I had used other app from other banks and seems to work better. I tried to deposit 100 dollar and TCFBank was unable to read the written amount that is very easily readable until I ask to write another check. It’s stressful trying to do simple task and TCFBank make it more difficult than it should be. Make the photo more robust to be able to read better or try to benchmark with other local banks app and improve your app. There are reasons customers want o use TCFBank , and if it always fails why do you advertise it. TCFBank needs more work specifically the photo readability of writing stuff (amount)




Not user friendly

The iPad and iPhone versions are meh. It does the basics,but is not user friendly. No matter how many times I’ve changed the status of an ebill, I still have 7 messages and my settings were not retained. Also, can someone please add the ability to A) hide a recipient vs delete B) default a category to recipients when you add or update. C) Make it easier to change monthly payment date on recurring payments.

The whole category thing is whack, my paypal transactions default to Pets, althouh I don’t have any other trans with this category. I dont have pets.

The default displays of ebills include everything, why not default to 30 days back and 30 days forward.




Fingerprint ID doesn’t work

I would love to give TCFBank 5 stars, however I can’t because the fingerprint sign in has never worked. I’ve tried everything. I have to give it 3 stars ( -1 for the print sign in not working, and -1 for the hassle of having to type in my password every time ) . If you’d fix this issue, I’d gladly change my review.




Mobile deposit

I am not happy with the fact that we can only deposit two checks. When we first enrolled we could do numerous checks. I have a friend you allowed 5 checks a day. I do daycare and could do 12 and when on vacation out of town I can’t get paid on Thursday as I can only mobile deposit 2 at a time. Very unhappy with this and looking at switching to Wells Fargo. Have been a customer since 1986.




Mobile Deposit issues

TCFBank would get a 5 star if the mobile deposit wasn’t absolutely horrible. The mobile deposit rarely works even when everything is done exactly according to the directions. I would say about 1 in every 10 checks goes through on the first try and even after multiple attempts about 4 of the 10 might go through. I usually end up having to bring checks into the bank which is very inconvenient considering I’m not near any branch locations. I have banked with multiple other banks that have mobile deposit apps and never had the issues I do with TCF’s mobile deposit.




Decent but could be better

I like that transfers are easybsince I do have multiple accounts. I do like the finger scan to get in to check my accounts. It makes it quick and easy. The one thing they could implement is a immediate alert when the cards/accounts are accessed like my credit cards and Credit Union. When there’s a transaction I receive a text and email notification about what was processed. It’s really nice to see. That way you’d know immediately if someone is accessing your account illegally. Just a thought.....




Good Solid App

Easy to use App with all the capabilities I need to handle my business including mobile check clearing, deposited check image viewing, easy transfers between accounts and a ledger with running totals. Especially, like the quick glance capability that allows you to see account balances without needing to sign onto the application.
