What is Twist? Twist is a communication app designed to organize team conversations and make collaboration easy from anywhere. It aims to reduce team burnout from endless meetings, emails, and Slack chats. Twist's threads ensure that important information doesn't get buried, and it creates a historical record that teams can learn from. It also focuses on the work that matters, reduces noise and distractions, and breaks through team silos with structured channels.
- One topic = one thread, instead of an endless stream of chit chat that buries important communications (like Slack)
- Super-specific tagging means that only the relevant teams see your messages
- Dive deep into any thread to recall the context behind how a decision was made, whether it was last week or last year
- Share important threads to easily and quickly onboard new employees
- Reduce noise and distractions with fewer notifications that allow your team to get sh*t done
- Improve your team’s work communication with more calm and less anxiety
- Create an organized, central place for managing all your team communications
- Invite guests, such as external clients, to specific channels to hash out project details
- Easily import all your team’s Slack conversations
- Set up remote team meetings with Zoom, Skype, and Jitsi Meet integrations
- Connect with work tools like Google Drive, Asana, and Calendly (and have a little fun with Giphy)
- Use keyboard shortcuts to speed up your workflow
- No presence indicators, typing dots, or read receipts
- Built by Doist, a global leader in remote and asynchronous working.
- Twist is very simple to use.
- It keeps company communications organized and searchable.
- It is great for organizing thoughts and ideas related to projects.
- It is better than any other communication app.
- It is a sweet productivity app that is loved by many users.

I’ve used slack for several years, and been bothered by all the notifications and lack of focus on threaded (on topic) communication. I absolutely love the concept and implementation of Twist! It is my go-to for teams now, and completely replaces the need for email in my book.
It feels in some ways like it is still in its infancy in supporting some features. Here’s an example: I love how I can share links to specific threads, but I don’t like how it takes users out of Twist to the browser, rather than just redirecting them into that specific thread within Twist .
That said, I will push teams that I’m involved in to move to Twist, and any new teams I am involved in will use this if I can help it. I’m a student and growing app developer myself, and see a lot of value in organized, asynchronous communication. Thanks for taking the time to really think through fundamentals of communication and productive work before developing just another communication tool. This is not just another one, this is the only one I want to use.

Hi! Our team loves this app. Is the best messaging app for work. No doubt about it. The only thing we don’t like is attaching something to a message. Apparently it does not do any compression and it’s very slow to upload things and even to see a image, it downloads very slow. Is the only thing we can see that this app is no good. Everything else is perfect. Thanks a lot and keep delivering great updates 🤘🏼

I have used a variety of communication applications, but this app by far is the best. It is very simple to use and keeps your company communications organized and searchable.

Honestly I love this app but some basic things aren’t available here that other message apps have like being able to respond from the lock screen. Hope this improves!

This makes the whole mess of random thoughts and ideas related to projects way easier to find! Definitely beats any other app!

Twist was SOOOOOOOO good that I just onboarded all of the leaders at my church, who were previously using text, email, Facebook messenger, etc. They are all very big fans of this sweet productivity app now too! Thanks, Doist!

Love Twist , but very hard to understand all the groups, teams, channels, threads!
Needs better tutorials. Video tutorials. Tutorials that don’t assume we know how these things work.
We had a hard time learning it but once we learned it, we love it.

I would love Twist if everything went well. Unfortunately, when signing up process, I was writing new name for team and suddenly Twist crashed and when I repeat the process, I can't continue to create team since they told me that my email is already in database. So I can't delete my account nor use Twist anymore. Bad UX flow.

Great for keeping up to date with our work group during this shut down.

Excellent! Easy to use and convenient! So far no problems!

I recently planted a new church, and we use this app to connect staff and volunteer team leaders. It’s perfect for ensuring all are on the same page without flooding inboxes!

this app is really a shift from all day running never ending chat message apps.

There needs to be a more granular way to turn on notifications for particular threads. Right now it’s like a message board where you get an app notifications for every freaking thread. Useless.

I have used Microsoft Teams, Basecamp, Teamwork, Slack, Stride, etc and not one has come close to how much I enjoy using this app. Great work.

Helps our team focus and have longer convos!

I’m disappointed that Twist keep freezing (esp in DMs) all the time. And the only way to get it to work again is to delete and reinstall Twist . Super annoying for my team and I.

Great app. Easy to use, intuitive, clean and clutter free. Great customer support!
By Lenabloop
I literally have to delete Twist every single time and reinstall to receive notifications. Otherwise nothing loads

Love Twist , use it almost daily. Lots of good things could be said here. There’s only three things I wish it had that’s missing.
- Dark mode
-Be able to post to existing thread from the share sheet
- See the time when someone is on vacation, not just an umbrella icon.
By Twist-user
- constant crashes
-sync between mobile and web don’t work
-errors and painful flashing screen on desktop app
-notifications do not turn off
- occasionally I cannot send a message at all
- I do not see the benefit of Twist in terms of focus over slack
-there aren’t really any useful integrations
-the search doesn’t work well for finding conversations and topics

Thanks so much for figuring out how to implement it.
My only gripe is that it kind of goes against how this app should work, since it creates new threads for each shared thing instead of allowing you to share with more granularity, by posting into specific threads.
For example, I share about 30 links or so every day and organize them by topic. Have an infinitely long amount of threads would not be ideal as a result.

Twist is a great solution to a problem that's getting out of control. I've been trying it with my husband and we're both hoping our companies will make the switch so we can finally take a vacation guilt free and unconnected! Hopefully Twist will begin to undo the 24/7 standard of employee availability that started with the invention of the Blackberry.

Update: Thanks to devs for response. It was a weird glitch where the "add thread" button disappeared. Restarting Twist solved the problem.
I know Twist is new but this seems like basic functionality. What gives?

I had the opportunity to test this app while it was in beta and the quick, enthusiast responses to my questions or trouble-shooting was nothing short of #Epic!
That alone lands 4 stars.
The 5th star is for the huge amount of effort and work I have seen this app's development team undertake and also because the developer(s) listen(ed) and acted on feedback.
These are some of the cornerstones in great, 5-star+ apps.
So excited for you guys/gals! Can't wait to see this app's future!
