What is Skiguide Zermatt?
The Skiguide app by Zermatt Bergbahnen is designed to make navigation in the skiing area easier. It offers GPS navigation on a 3D map, taking into account the opening times of ski runs and lifts. The app also features a mixed-reality feature, a mountain restaurant guide, weather forecasts, alerts to any imminent dangers, and links to Zermatt Bergbahnen’s web shop and Skiline.

With Zermatt Bergbahnen’s Skiguide app, navigation in the skiing area is easier than ever. Rediscover the international ski area around the Matterhorn, using the intuitive 3D map. GPS navigation in the ski area on a 3D map The centrepiece of the app is the navigation function on the 3D map. Should you want to reach your favourite mountain restaurant from one of the valley stations, the app will indicate the right lifts and pistes as well as the time required to get there. The journey time depends on your personal level of ability, which can be set in the app. More features The app always takes account of the opening times of ski runs and lifts in the ski area, provided that the mobile device is connected to the internet. This should not pose a problem since all Zermatt Bergbahnen AG stations are equipped with free wireless LAN. Virtuality meets reality -- The mixed-reality feature known as “User Perspective BETA” fuses reality and virtuality to offer a virtual 3D experience. In addition, the app features a detailed mountain restaurant guide, so you can also enjoy Matterhorn ski paradise from its culinary side. Current opening times, detailed information and various filter functions will help find the perfect restaurant beside the ski runs. Not much useful for navigation!
1. Lack of iPhone X version. 2. Navigation is weak, just takes you from point A to B. If you need to go to 3, 4 or more points this is useless, you’ll have to open a map and stop at all the time. 3. Navigation would be more helpful with a voice control, Zermatt has WiFi at mostly of the lifts it’d be easy to locate the skier each time he/she reaches each lift and gives instruction for the next point navigation. Please note that we are skiing and take the phone outside and remove gloves is an inconvenience, listen on the earphones it’s much easier. 4. There are easier ways to make a navigation just touching on the screen initial and final destination, being able to introduce way points and stops on the way. 5. Finally, navigation needs an overall improvement.
