Over promised and under delivered

I was super excited about Foodvisor when I first found it. I wish I had known that it was fully based more for European input and isn’t really customizable. Unfortunately, because I didn’t know these pieces I signed up for and paid for three month, so I’m out a little money. Wish o had just tried for one month so I hadn’t wasted so much.
In the setting indicated my preferences, however the native function of Foodvisor being in grams makes it a hassle to use. The quick find option is also awful if you are an American as Al our foods and restaurants are not recognized.
I reached out to the ‘coach’ and didn’t get much feedback or real understanding of my feedback about Foodvisor and how difficult it was to use, only to update my settings, which I had already done.
I was also stoked about the picture function and that rarely worked. I had to change it ever time to what was actually on my plate, negating any efficiency.
Lastly, the classes weren’t all that helpful. I was most excited about them and they really fell short. The hype of what would be covered was almost better than what actually got covered.
Hopefully this review helps others not sign up for longer periods until they try it for.

Great but could be much better

Been using for 3weeks. I am on a moderate diet and Foodvisor works well for my purpose. Though, as others commented, for serious calorie counters the database may be small and inaccurate too often. I want to suggest making “per portion” selected as default instead of “per 100g” when entering nutritional data to new items. My guess is that when someone enters nutritional data on a new item, they fill in nutritional values just like it shows on the label while choosing “per 100g” instead of “per portion” which is what the nutritional facts on those labels are... which throws the calculations off. So if “per portion” is selected as default, it may solve many of the confusing annoying mistakes on the database.

Really enjoying this

this app came at a good time and I’m really enjoying my program. It’s informative and in-depth. However, I would like to see more nutritionists available to talk to. There’s simply no way one person could manage all of us.

Another change would be the design. When viewing my weight history, some of the information is cut off by a design error. This also is true of the classes. Some of the wording is too complicated/heady, when it could be simplified. Some of Foodvisor just needs to cleaned up a bit.

Other than this I’m really enjoying this app.

Can’t contact them/ Disappointed

I opted for the premium edition in hopes that the fasting diet plan would actually have something that prompts you or reminds you
Of what to do when, but it is just advisory articles to read. I clicked on contact to cancel and the contact doesn’t work. Takes
You nowhere yet all of the others you can click work just fine. Very disappointed as you really don’t need the premium version of Foodvisor at all, very over priced and should allow the option to cancel.
Tried to share a 1-2 star but Foodvisor won’t allow it. Keeps telling me the nickname I’ve chosen is taken and to pick another. They’ve found work arounds for people to complain or give issues

Fun And User Friendly (Im A Harsh Critic Too)

Im new to weight loss apps however being in need of help right now. I desperately started to look for an app that would help me . I tried over 30 different apps and they all were too complicated and confusing to use. I like Foodvisor because its fun and easy to understand and use. Yes it comes at a price but so far on my 7 day trial I am very impythst so much love and work was poured into Foodvisor to help people like me! A big fat thank you to the developers!

Sizes

It’s alright, but if you’re a calorie counter, this ain’t it! The database is limited and even though you can add your own custom foods, you can never add them accurately. I have yet to find a label where *any* liquid is measured in grams (milk, juice, etc.). However, you are forced to fill in the “grams” portion of custom foods or it won’t even save! Next, some of the popular foods in the database seem to be pretty “off” and it’s just too much confusion. Sometimes it’ll say 4.2oz is a cup and other times it’ll say 8oz is a cup. Whaaa? So while I like the “picture” aspect of Foodvisor , the confusion of how to record what’s in the picture accurately ends up taking up way too much time, making my food cold by the time I can eat it!

Impressive App

I am so happy with the support and usefulness of the this app app. It is very easy to use, there is real coaching and customization, and it has a huge database of foods so journaling is easy. In the most recent update a few things changed and I was able to provide feedback regarding things that weren’t working for me. I felt heard and my concern was addressed and a fix was offered. I couldn’t be happier. Losing weight is hard work, this app makes it a bit more fun!!!!

By

Just ok

I’m used to using the WW app, and had tried the MyFitnessPal app which didn’t seem robust enough for me, so I attempted this app. I’m not a huge fan, mostly because it’s not super easy to look up specific foods. I get a lot of suggestions nowhere close to what I’m trying to track. The picture of food sounds cool but it’s not very accurate. The smiling/frowning face concerns me because I get a mad face for things I consider totally fine and healthy in moderation (like a teaspoon of honey... not quite the diet killer). Overall, I’d wouldn’t suggest Foodvisor to anyone. For $60 a year, it needs some work. Not worth the money.

I learned why my diets always failed before

The daily classes, instant meal ratings and meeting with the nutritionist gave me the tools to help me loose weight, stay motivated, and helped me realize what misbeliefs I had that kept me from reaching my long-term weight loss goals. I highly recommend it.

Disappointed

I got Foodvisor because I had heard that it was free to use. However once I started putting in all the information it tried making me highlight whether I wanted to exercise, lose weight, have better nutrition, or whatever else. Then at the very end it was insisting that I sign up for a 14 day trial. I only downloaded Foodvisor because it supposedly had the option to be able to take pictures of food and track your calories. But once I got to a point where it’s trying to sign me up for cognitive behavioral therapy, getting a human nutritionist, losing weight, and everything else it really defeated the point of what I wanted Foodvisor for.

A lot of foods missing…

I like the concept of Foodvisor and I’m trying it for 3 months, but at this time I probably will not renew. It is kind of pricey too. It’s ridiculous that for restaurants that have their nutritional information posted, that they’re not in Foodvisor. An example, menu items from Outback Steakhouse. Good luck trying to find their Bloomin Onion. 🤷🏻 They’re lower cost apps that do almost the same thing for much less such as “Lose It!” I don’t need counseling, quizzes or anything else, just help me monitor my intake.

Poor app

I was intrigued by Foodvisor due to the fact you can take pictures of your plate and the AI/algorithm would determine what you were eating and calculate your nutritional data and make tracking much easier. I found that the picture recognition to be very unreliable and almost always requires modification. Also, there is a poor database of foods. At least 50% of barcodes are unrecognized. Generally it is a pain to use. My Fitness Pal has many more features and is much easier to use. I am switching back.

By

No support! Menus not applicable

I emailed the nutritionist first thing this morning and have yet to hear a response back. I have heard from others there is virtually no support which is very misleading. Also, the menus they sent me do not coincide with anything I filled out in the initial screening process. Very high carbohydrates and I specified I prefer keto, types of fish I would never touch, as there was no ability to specify foods in which I would never eat. Totally useless and many other apps which are much more helpful. A complete waste of money

By

Waste of money

If you are looking for ease of use and ACCURACY this is not Foodvisor for you. Users can input info on food which can be incorrect. It does not recognize many barcodes. It also uses the metric system which is not terrible unless you want record a very small amount, ex: ¼ tsp of maple syrup is 1.23 ml but the smallest amount Foodvisor will let you use is 15ml. Getting a refund for premium is difficult even if you have had it for a couple of days. At the very least use the 7 day trial before committing.

Interesting idea but poor execution

I read a review of this product online and thought it would be cool to try. The idea sounds great but the developers have failed into a poor product not ready for prime time.
Issues:
-user interface is cluttered and confusing. There is so much information, icons and other things that it’s quite bad actually.
-the search capabilities are very poor. I think you need to improve your algorithm. Takes forever to find something close to what I need and sometimes it shows up pages below
-the image recognition is so-so. Needs to improve.
- I am interested in a different protein target. Why should I pay for something as simple as that? I’m not asking for a diet or another service.

In summary, developers: you have a lot of work to do.

By

Not Nutritionally Accurate

So it may allow you to log all of your nutrients and for what you eat, but it’s recommended amounts for each thing isn’t very healthy. It recommend me to eat a TON of carbs and very few proteins and fats, even after I put in that I do heavy physical activity 5 days per week. Obviously your body needs proteins when heavy physical activity is involved and yet it recommends carbs even though they burn too quickly to sustain energy and keep hunger levels low for a very short time.

be more inclusive

I love Foodvisor in general!! I think there is some room for improvement but I’ll be here for the updates. However, at the very beginning it asks for male or female, please consider changing this to include non-binary, prefer not to say or other. It’s 2021, make people feel comfortable, especially when it comes to bettering themselves!

By

Amazing

I have the free package and it still does everything I need to get me on track. Paying for premium will definitely help and is more specific about you dietary needs and is super helpful providing you with someone you can talk to if you have any inquiries.

By

Awful

Foodvisor would be great - if the math added up and it was actually accurate!! The calorie totals never matched the food scanned (barcode scanned) so you have to pick a close match to the calorie total. In addition - the total calories for all foods combined in a day - are inaccurate because the math never adds up properly. This was a complete waste of money - I am deleting it within 48 hours of purchase. I’d rather use a calculator and Google the nutritional information of what I am eating.

Has frustrating errors

Nice idea for an app but has several frustrating errors. App crashes when you try to edit a food by adding a photo. Very confusing to customize. Needs serious quality control and further testing and debugging. Shouldn't rely on users to troubleshoot. When you log out and log back in later, all the daily totals are wrong and some meals are messed up.

By

Won’t give you a refund

I signed up for a free trial with them. I ended up getting billed for a $60 yearly subscription before my reminder went off to cancel it. After having talked to Apple they cannot help me with the refund because this app has already accepted it. So now I’m coming here, as a very disgruntled customer, demanding a refund. I have tried contacting them on Foodvisor , email, on Facebook and through messenger. I don’t want to make a big deal about this, but the fact that I have to go to these lengths is ridiculous.

Got rid of Lose It!

Love how organized and easy to use Foodvisor is! I used to use Lose It!, but I found it really hard to navigate, so I got rid of it and downloaded Foodvisor! Great, easy to use, and keeps me motivated to eat healthy, drink water, and exercise!

By

UX is kinda bad

Overall I like it but the UX is problematic. Especially if you want to edit food you added -
It’s just a chore.

There is no clear edit button after adding an item.

Selecting the food item you added, you’re confusingly asked to “validate” your meal instead of just opening it/it’s properties. What does validate your meal even mean?

I can’t manually write the calories for food. If I can it’s unclear because I feel stuck with their selections.

I also can’t manually add calories I burned - I use a Fitbit not Apple Watch so I just have to select a random exercise.

The ui is nice but kind of busy. Eh, overall it does it’s job but its unnecessarily frustrating.

By

Awesome!

I’m a registered dietitian and I think Foodvisor is incredible! It makes counting calories a breeze! And the tips and blog articles are great to help keep you on track and provide more insight!
Highly recommend!

By

Not user friendly

Difficult navigating from one screen to the next. Kept duplicating food items despite me trying to “fix the issue” by trying to drag and drop to the delete space. I was frustrated every time I tried to use it. I just deleted Foodvisor , on my way to find another one

By

Needs improvement

Foodvisor needs a lot of improvement if it wants to be better than My Fitness Pal. The food database doesn’t seem to be very big. When I took a photo of my brand name ice tea bottle it didn’t know what it was. You have no way to sync a Fitbit or anything else that I could see. I was confused on how to enter meals. So I think I will stick with MyFitnessPal.

By

Ability to change notification time

It would be great if I could set the times at which I want it to remind me to take a picture of my meals. I always forget because it notifies me when I am not eating.

By

Cute idea. Not worth the $

Sometimes the best things in life are free. This is a super great idea. But it’s not worth $60. Yea it’s a years cost but it would be nice to have full access to Foodvisor as a paid member for a full free 5-7 days. Get an idea of what it’s like before you spend it. Not just a basic membership.

By

Perfect🇫🇷

Foodvisor is just petfect you talk with me unless to improve my every day nutrition I really appreciate it so much because I Lose Weight and this was my goal !

By

Doesn’t see everything on the plate and I can’t add it

I took a picture of my plate I have 2 ounces of cheese and 1tablespoon Of butter it doesn’t pick up the butter so I have to fake it into calling it 3 ounces of cheese.
Need a way to be able to add something manually that doesn’t get picked up other than that it’s a great tool and I want to recommend it to my clients but I don’t know a way around it

By

Cool food app

A friend told me about Foodvisor. It’s a cool AI program to examine food and gives a quick calorie and macronutrient analysis. It’s not perfect but it’s easy to use and fun. I’m losing weight. It’s easy.

RUN AWAY!!!!’

DO NOT DOWNLOAD...learn from my mistake! The nutrition is not accurate and there appears to be no way of changing. There is no response when asking a question and though you would love to just take a picture and validate the food you are consuming it isn’t quite that easy. This is s great concept but it doesn’t work! Run run away!!!
