It’s fun!!

It’s nice being able to hear the music as well as reading the notes to focus on nuances as one learns a new piece of music. Lots of features here that help the musician out, like being able to slow things down, choose what instruments one would like to hear and being able to record and annotate different fingerings and things. I’m both a cellist and classical guitarist so it’s nice to be able to find new music to work on in different areas, and the subscription is great for being able to just download new songs without even thinking about paying for song by song.

The downside that I see is that the sound quality is compromised when slowing down a piece, but I am working off an old iPad for now until a new model arrives in a few days- keep in mind an iPad 4 may not cut the mustard here, and then of course one could also be like me and download lots of songs, play all day and still feel like there’s so much to work on!! But then again, that’s also what makes it fun, by having so much to look forward to practicing. Good times, and I’m happy I downloaded TomplaySheetMusic

Best teaching tool ever!!

After eight years of lessons and really trying to play the piano I had pretty much given up. I wasn’t practicing more than a half hour, two or three times a week and just wasn’t enjoying it anymore. Was all set to sell the ol' piano when I chanced upon Tomplay, a couple weeks ago. Wow! Being able to play using TomplaySheetMusic 's orchestral accompaniment feature makes a huge difference. You really feel like you are playing music when you use that feature. And, as for a teaching tool it can’t be beat. I love being able to #1 slow the tempo, #2 use the looping feature to play 1, 2, 3 or more measures over and over again until I get that part of the piece down pat, #3 appreciate the suggested fingering on each piece, #4 the ability to make my own notations and highlights on the music, and then print it off. And the huge music library is very impressive. Thanks to the Tomplay app I’ve gone from practicing sessions of a half hour a couple of times a week to do literally hours a day.

Some pros and some cons

I am a pianist who plays duets and chamber music. I recently downloaded the Schubert Fantasy for 4 hands. The sound quality is pretty bad and sounds like it was recorded digitally by a computer in a very lively room. There is no expression in the playing so I am using it strictly to get the rhythm right and fitting it in with the other part. I’m using a bluetooth headphones to help improve the sound but it’s still not very good. There are a few errors in how the score is played but, for the most part it is accurate.

TomplaySheetMusic is useful for me to hear how the two piano parts fit together, especially since there are polyrhythms in each part and between the two parts. I feel I have a tutor sitting next to me which is useful since I get together with my duet partner only a couple times a month.

Improvements could be made in the offerings. The Schubert Fantasy is the only advanced 4 hand piece offered. It would be helpful if you could fast forward through the score rather than scrolling through lots of pages. The slowest tempo on the metronome is 50. Would be helpful if it went lower.

Great learning tool.

Nicely designed app and very effective tool for music practice. My main interest is classical piano and the major composers are well represented. Most scores have two different audio tracks of real (not midi) instruments to choose from. I like that you can choose between fully annotated score with fingerings and score with no annotation. One thing I wish for is a wider range of tempo adjustment. TomplaySheetMusic only allows you to slow down to 75% of the original tempo, and some of the tempos are quite brisk. I understand that slowing the tempo too much compromises the quality of the audio playback, but when I am practicing that is not as important to me as being able to play cleanly and keep good rhythm. Also I must amend my earlier review in which I complained that I was not able to restore my previous purchases and was getting no response from the developer. I'm not sure of the cause of the communication failure but they have reached out to me and the problem is resolved. Thank you Tomplay!

Greatest music teaching app

I just want to spread the good news that I’m just learning to play the clarinet and by utilizing theThe scores and music within TomplaySheetMusic I am able to have learned three songs from the catalog on my clarinet. I wish TomplaySheetMusic was around about six years ago when I started to get interested in learning how to play music and not that my music teacher was anything other than spectacular I just needed some more input exploration in the music world and TomplaySheetMusic does give that to me so I am going to read this five stars and A+ A+ A+ a I wish TomplaySheetMusic was around about six years ago when I started to get interested in learning how to play music and not that my music teacher was anything other than spectacular I just needed some more input exploration in the music world and TomplaySheetMusic does give that to me so I am going to read this five stars and A+ A+ A+ A+

Warning! Beware of their billing procedures.

I purchased this program under TomplaySheetMusic Store and did not like it. The program is not user friendly when compared to others that I have. I canceled, then read that they were making improvements so I went to the website and signed up for a year to see what improvements and hoping they would improve. I signed in several times only to find the program very awkward with no ability to change layouts and other adjustments. I decided stop using. Skip forward a year. I get a notice that I had been charged for another year. I contacted their customer service to request a refund, since I never used the program. The response was that I had to cancel 24 hours before renewal and that “you agreed to our terms when you signed up on our website”. I’m sure this is quoted to everyone as they pocket all of the money from renewed subscriptions that people never notice. They did not send a notification of renewal and I believe this is done purposely to keep the funds coming in. This way of doing business is deceptive and I believe is pushing the limits of being legal.

Great app — one more feature would help

As a beginner on the saxophone who does not yet know how to read music, I have to annotate sheet music with the names of each note. I’ve been doing that efficiently by writing on printed copies. But TomplaySheetMusic limits how many copies you can print. Nevertheless, TomplaySheetMusic is helpful for learning because it has background music and you can slow it down. If only there was an option to have the names of the notes automatically annotated above or below the staff. I can go through and do it manually— it has annotation tools—but it is time consuming. If only for this feature I’m confident I could grow to love it even more and give it five stars. Also, the iPad version has trouble saving my annotations—it gets stuck on saving and I have to force quit. Luckily it saves my work but each time I do this it creates another score (I have one named “Notes_1_1_1_1_1_1_1_1.” So this seems to be a bug that needs fixing. (I’m using a one year old iPad Pro and I’ve tried deleting TomplaySheetMusic and re-installing).

Most useful App out there!

As a multi instrumentalist TomplaySheetMusic covers so much. It is easy to use, not much complicated computer figuring out time required, more time to play music. Looping the difficult sections and then slowing that part down is a wonderful studying tool.
As a flautist I have been able to tap into the violin/oboe/vocal repertoire. I was delighted to find piano duets, as practicing with the alternate part is so helpful. Wish there were more selections, however they seem to be adding more and more every day.
Also I would really like to have more American Jazz Standards added. Thank you TomPlay.
Not all accompaniment is perfect, I think a few are from older analog recordings, but most are excellent. I like to use a Bose Speaker when working with these.
I have quite a few friends who have since bought TomplaySheetMusic and love it, both higher and lower level musicians.

Amazing user experience! They just more song options.

I have been researching different backtrack and sheet music options for my flute lately, and TomplaySheetMusic definitely has the best user experience! I like that you can record right in TomplaySheetMusic , and that you can adjust the tempo to make it slower when you are practicing. My only complaint, is that there are not very many songs available to purchase! Well, I guess it depends on what you were looking for. There are plenty of classical and traditional pieces, but I am more interested in movie and TV theme songs, and pop songs to play.

If the developers are reading this, I would sure love to see more of those types of options on here! Zelda, Game of Thrones, Star Wars, Titanic, and Lord of the Rings would all be awesome additions. 😉

Thanks again for the great app, keep up the good work!

The best music/sheet music app ever!

I am a professional musician and a teacher of violin. I have to say that I have never even dreamed that somebody could come up with an app like this. It is so amazing that I use it all the time for performances even. That’s how good it is. It is so easy and it has every
Kind of music that you can think of. And if they don’t have it, they will create it.
My students love TomplaySheetMusic. It’s perfect for teachers for students because they can practice with the melody line alone or the accompaniment alone or with a metronome at various speeds.
You can organize the music into different genres and categories so it makes it very easy just to pick one of the categories and play all the pieces within it.
I made categories such as film music, video game scores, quartets, memorial music, love songs, etc. And what’s so incredible is that you don’t just get a piano accompaniment… There are amazing orchestral accompaniments.
You can download the pieces so that you don’t need Wi-Fi to play them on your iPad so your music can go anywhere with you.
A huge bravo, standing ovation and a giant thank you to the people of Tomplay!

Music Life is Good!

I just received my iPad Pro and Apple Pencil for my Birthday and I am now able to fully experience TomPlay. I was already loving it but now I am having a blast! I can mark up my score with the pencil and write in fingerings, modify slurs and I’m sure there is more to discover. I know I won’t have to print as much anymore! I love TomPlay!! Being able to hear expert players verses a computer midi sound gives me the opportunity to try to match my intonation to theirs and better yet, know how a particular measure should sound or be played . Thank you for this product and for the wonderful players you provide for play along assistance. Ohhhh I love the record feature too! It’s making a huge difference, playbacks don’t lie.

Overwhelming feeling of happiness.

I’m studying Mozart concerto n.23, my first attempt to play along with the orchestra and, when the orchestra kicks in after the piano intro, I feel like my dream came true. Thank you folks, TomplaySheetMusic works amazingly, at least for me, looking forward to getting some Cole Porter and Tori Amos music.
I’ve been using TomplaySheetMusic for a while now and I think it’s excellent, I only have a suggestion, what about making the loop a real continuing loop, with no stop between the loops? Thank you.

I MUST ADD THIS, The support center is fast, kind, efficient, and I could give 6 stars if it was possible.
I’ve just checked the new feature, files. Great, thank you!

Makes playing more fun

To have the accompanist to play with makes TomplaySheetMusic so much fun. However I would love to see some more tools to change tempos for whole sections. I find that sometimes parts of a piece are way off the tempo I would play and have to stop and change it manually.
Also, it would be great to set a default tuning for all pieces. Most flutes are tuned to 442 but the recordings seem to be at 440 and I have to change every piece.
I’d also like to have the option to always have the flute recording off.
Finally, the web browser version doesn’t remember TomplaySheetMusic settings even when logged in the same account, so it’d be nice to store those settings in the cloud.
Suggestions aside, TomplaySheetMusic is a game changer and is motivating to use.

Sorry but this is kinda terrible

I downloaded TomplaySheetMusic to try to get an accompaniment for the piece I am playing, the Vitali Chaccone. I do appreciate the features given in the sheet music but trying to play with the piano is extremely difficult. The piano and violin sometimes play wrong notes and never follow the dynamics written for the piece. Random speed changes also happen during the piece, for example, the last page completely changes to a very fast speed with the tempo still be set the same. The sound quality also sounds like someone recorded the music in a closet and then auto tuned it a bunch. Don’t recommend TomplaySheetMusic for people who actually want to fully learn music. However, I believe that the easier songs may work better than the harder. If the ‘musician’ can’t play the piece well enough for a good recording, they shouldn’t advertise more advanced pieces for people to play.

Successful App, fantastic customer support!

This is a serious high quality app for the music lover thats wants to experience many great works! Regardless of your instrument. From recorders, strings, wind piano, brass, percussion and even voice. TomplaySheetMusic gives you access to various styles of music! classical, Jazz, holiday, movie soundtracks, just to name a few. I love attempting the piano concertos by Rachmaninoff and Chopin as well as Mozart. They even have very well done simplified arrangements of these great works for those at various levels!
I have also enjoyed playing piano duets and solos, of course slowing them down. Besides the great content avail for practice, study and just listening, their customer service is fantastic!! I requested a specific piece (Chopin Rondo for two pianos opus 73)
and when my turn came they provided the request! Just as they said. I had to be patient due to their volume.

This interactive app has brought a new joy to my love of music!! Thank you Tomplay and the staff that make it happen!!

Tomplay is the future

Tomplay is an amazing app that gives a great tool to students and teachers. They have some of the absolute best customer service and respond quickly to inquiries. I asked them for music to help a student of mine and they were extremely fast about meeting my request. I use TomplaySheetMusic for teaching and for my own performances as a backing track. I find that no other app does quite as well and definitely isn’t as streamlined and easy to use as Tomplay. I think TomplaySheetMusic is a must for any musician new or advanced who is looking for an amazing practice tool. I can’t recommend it enough!

More Songs Needed

I have three children that play violin, viola and piano. I would say the catalog is underdeveloped from a subscription stand point. However, I bought three songs (not copyrighted) to test with my children. My kids use the Suzuki method and they do have a few songs.

Trial: My eldest seemed to enjoy it the most. He like the accompaniment and the looping feature so we can practice a section of song repeatedly. I enjoy the recording feature at the end so they can hear how they sound after practicing.

For practice I would give it five stars. But I subtracted one star for not having the full curriculum or other guided path to improve your skills. The other minus is for lack of music that my kids would be I interested in playing. I let the kids look and they did not have any music they would want to play. For instance, my daughter wanted the My Little Pony Theme song. My son wanted Star Wars music. The music seems geared toward adults.

Maybe in a few years they will have the catalog worthy of subscription. Until then I will just buy the songs my kids are practicing if they have them.

Review on trumpet music

Tomplay is the best tool I have ever used in my 44 years of playing a trumpet. The ability to record with and without the trumpet in the background is amazing. The loop component allows me to work on a certain bar or portion of the music that I need to practice to perfection coupled with the visual on certain pieces are simply amazing.

I am happier than a kid in a cookie jar with TomplaySheetMusic and it’s without peer when it comes to all of the perks it has to master each piece of music. I am grateful to all involved with putting TomplaySheetMusic together.

Like it but would like to add a suggestion

I love TomplaySheetMusic , it’s great really. The only thing I would suggest adding is a WANT/LOVE file so I can add music that I would like to buy in the future. You don’t currently have that option and it would be useful for those of us that don’t want the yearly subscription but would like to set aside pieces to buy in the future. Right now, I can’t do that and I have to scroll alllll over again to find the piece that I once fell in love with but forgot title/composer😩😩. It’s frustrating and such an easy fix. Make it perfect. You’re so close.

The silver lining during the pandemic

I purchased a year subscription to Tom play in April 2019 and it has been the greatest motivator for me to play my flute on a daily basis again! There are so many choices of pieces to play in various genres that have kept my interest going. I enjoy the excellent accompaniments, the ability to choose variously recorded tracks and easy manipulation of the software. Keeping my favorite pieces in easy accessible folders makes using Tomplay easy. Thanks, Tomplay!

Tomplay Sheet Music

This is a marvelous learning tool, and something I’ve been looking for. You have a fair selection of cello music which I can adapt to. I say this because I play Viola da Gamba (Bass). As a result I would like to see music for this instrument. Viola da Gamba Association could advise you regarding the music that extends from the 1600s to present day. Solos, duets trios quartet and so on would be great. Gambas come in soprano, alto, tenor and bass. These instrument preceded the violin family in history. For know I’ll make do with what you have. Composers such as Lock, Laws, East, Abel and Telemann to name a few. There are people of the organization that are professional players.

Great app..except

This is a valuable app. I only have one request. I wish it had the option for letter notes, sometimes I have a hard time figuring out which note it is. So this option would be valuable to help read sheet music. And feel confident that I’m playing the right notes.

Lots of great stuff pitched at every level

I really love the progressive pieces. My first purchase was pachelbel’s cannon - the stand alone progressive app in C maj and D maj.

I made good progress and am happy I can come back and add a bit more complexity after I get a bit more experience.

My next venture with Tomplay was the progressive pirates of the Caribbean. It’s taken me 3 days to get the piece down at a reasonable (though slow) pace. I’d love to play it with the orchestral backing, but I noticed that when u play with backing only, the recordings seems to skip a few measures and ends about 2 bars before the actual piece finishes.

Can w get that fixed?

I’d also love to see more progressive stuff in the store.

I love Vivaldi’s Spring. That would be a great add!

Update: I reported the backing bug through TomplaySheetMusic , and TomPlay has rectified by replacing with a newer version.

Overall Review

This software is absolutely amazing! I am an intermediate alto saxophone student. I reached a point in my studies where I was frustrated because I needed help working on musicality and quality sound. This economical subscription has paid off many times over! I save so much money and time by no longer looking for professional sheet music. And the accompaniment makes it so much more fun to practice! Tomplay, keep up the fine work, and I will remain a lifetime member! Thanks!

What a fun way to practice!

I’m new to TomplaySheetMusic, but I find it so fun to play along with the orchestra. So far, I have just used it with headphones, but I plan to get some nice speakers soon. I teach three piano students on the side (not my full-time job), and I can see the enormous potential as a teaching tool. I’m hoping my students will find it as rewarding and motivating as I have.

A new beginning

I picked up my clarinet after an eight year hiatus. (I took lessons off and on for three years the first time) You could say I’m starting once again. Technology has changed and it’s a joy to have an accompaniment that flexible. I’m spending more time practicing and virtually every day for 45-60 minutes. The time flys by.

Fantastic App

I haven’t played music in years. Now, at the age of 70, I am inspired by having a partner to play with whenever I want. Tomplay is simple to use while offering a variety of songs and arrangements and the option to loop and record to help you practice the songs. In some ways, Tomplay has actually changed my musical life.

Great app

Love TomplaySheetMusic and great to work with my Clavinova. I wish there was a way to adjust the playback volume of orchestra as opposed solely by my iPads volume control. Other than that it’s great. Keep new scores coming along :)

Awesome for adult beginners!

TomplaySheetMusic is a wonderful tool for adult beginners. It’s got me motivated and playing the violin in tune. I can record myself with the accompaniment, and that helps me evaluate what I need to work on during my next practice session. I hope they add more pop songs in the future. I love it.

Good app but some flaws

TomplaySheetMusic is good but, it only has 3 songs for the beginners on the violin. That kinda annoyed me because I like to challenge myself on the violin and it only has 3 SONGS!>:( LIKE SERIOUSLY! But, I gave it 3 stars because all 3 of the songs are pretty cool. But, a little TOO hard. Thank you for my feedback! Bye!

Tomplay should not come up in a Google search if someone is seeking sheet music to use for a solo. I Googled where to buy sheet music and it came up as the first choice. My mistake was not to read a review of the site before I agreed to buy the sheet music I needed. When I got the link to my sheet music it was a link to play the music which is not what I wanted. When I asked for a refund I was sent a long notice back about the fact that if they refunded as many requests as they got it would cost them too much. HMMMMM. Why are they receiving so many requests to get a refund? A lot are probably due to the same reason I had - a wrong representation of what this site offers. If you want sheet music check out other sites like Sheetmusicplus, but do not use Tomplay. That is not what they offer and I know I should have read a lot more about it, but I was in a hurry to get the music. BIG mistake.
