App was great (when it worked)

Roomster was fine for me at first, I could actually log in and get messages from other people, communicate with them and also see that someone sent messages (for free), but not all of them. Things kept changing though; sometimes I could see messages, and sometimes not. The BIGGEST problem, however, is now I CAN’T EVEN SIGN IN! I used to use my e-Mail, as it was one of the options available. I never had to verify anything else (like my phone number) because I spoke with customer service, and they signed me in anyway. Now, the ONLY WAY TO SIGN IN is with PHONE NUMBER and I NEVER VERIFIED IT. Turns out, not only did they HAVE MY PHONE NUMBER, it is BLOCKED FROM THE WEBSITE. How did they even get it if I never gave it to them? When I spoke to customer service again, the guy over e-Mail said “delete your account and make a new one with that phone number”. Huh? That’s customer support? What about all my messages to and from other people? How do I know my phone number won’t get blocked again? There’s so much wrong with this, it is mind boggling. I can’t even write a review on their website, nor contact customer service because you have to have a signed-in-account (I could only reply to old e-mails customer service sent me because I can’t sign in). I’ll give it 2 stars, at least because when I could use it, everything was OK, but constant changes has turned this thing into utter crap

Not much inventory in Washington, DC ; loaded with scams

Their business model is fee-for-communication. You pay a membership fee, about $10 bucks a week, to communicate with other users. That —might— be worth it in some areas, but my considered impression of using Roomster over time is that there’s an abundance of scam/con artists with fake profiles hoping to harvest your personal information (phone and email) and enriched themselves with advance payments of application fees and deposits. There also doesn’t seem to be much local inventory here in Washington, DC, a metro area with 6+ million ppl. Most of the inventory here seems to feature duplicative photos and stereotypical written descriptions, basically the same apartment rooms for rent, but pegged in at several different price points, and are listed by a “this app Partner,” whomever that might be, and they just don’t seem authentic, real listings. I’m very skeptical of the value proposition of Roomster, at least in this area.

A CHARGE($) FOR EVERYTHING 🤬😒

I don’t believe years ago Roomster had a fee to use. It’s free to download however *beware* it’s useless w/o being able to msg others. There are different subscription prices just to msg people!! Ridiculous! People are on here to find roomies & essentially save coin, not be forced into buying a subscription!! There’s even a fee to get your ID/license verified!! 2 days after finally caving & buying the $10 subscription just to msg people- absurd!!..I experienced issues! After writing & posting my listing, the words I typed saved weird. Numbers are unable to be saved in the listing description-which is annoying- to add a numerical budget max etc. If I’m going to be paying for something- it better work 100%- functionally & properly! Also- when looking at others listings- I would see they had a active listing either from announcements or whatever- then I clicked on there profile to see the whole listing and it would say listings- 0 !! ***FRUSTRATING****

Surprise! It’s not free after all.

Roomster is listed as free but with in-app purchases. This should mean that you can use the basic, essential features but that there are incentives for paying for extra, right? Nope! You have to buy a subscription just to view or send messages. In other words, you can indeed download and open Roomster for free, but you will never be able to use this product as intended unless you pay. You can’t find a roommate without a means of communicating with potential matches.

I just downloaded this yesterday and managed to post a listing while figuring out how it works. I have two messages, but no way to respond or even see if they’re worth responding to. My apologies to whoever reached out, but I’ll now need to figure out how to remove my listing 🙄

I understand it’s not free to develop or maintain an app like this, but if it requires payment for users to use the product, be more transparent about it. Now I feel rude for simply ignoring these messages.

Fakes

They have postings on Craigslist (I found 6) different listings that looked pretty good and they all said the same thing and to get Roomster. So I said what the heck cause I really need a room and I thought those were just bots advertising Roomster. So i said I guess I’ll check it out not cause the bots but I still couldn’t find anything… so that’s the first problem is they flood other platforms with spam.
No about Roomster . The first thing is even if it was legit and they didn’t do slimy tricks it is super glitch and just horrible platform to use. On Roomster they post listings just to look like a lot and then you try to get in contact but it’s not real. The ID verification is $15 but I did it and since the platform is so glitch I lost my money because my account got erase some how. Last thing, look at the reviews, look at the star ratio… 5 and 4 star have a lot 3 and 2 have none, but then 1 quite a bit.

Don’t waste your time or money.

Questionable and predatory

The biggest point that I would like to make in this review is that I have used this app multiple times and it has never been useful. The developer responds to poor reviews by saying that if you don’t like to pay, use free sites like Facebook, Roomies, etc. That is absolutely what you should do. It’s barely functional and the odds of having success on here are slim. This website survives off of its bizarre subscription feature. I paid for 7 days… why would you automatically renew me for the highest priced 30 days after the 7 days? But they rely on people not reading the fine print and forgetting that their 7 days is almost up, and that’s why this website still exists. The developer’s response to poor reviews only further validates that they are aware of their predatory subscription feature. They are not interested in feedback or improving. They just want your money.

So useful for longterm traveller

The apps name maybe this app , seems like it can only find you a roommate, but a lot of people post to sublease their unit and this is a good idea since a lot of long-stay visitor would love to find a place where we can rent monthly with affordable price (annual price), instead of having to stay in hotel the whole time. In the meantime, sometimes, our life events need to make us move from our place before the contract ends and we can make some money instead of wasting the rest of the contract period. For anyone wanting to sublease their apartment, this apps help you check the credibility of the person you subletting your unit to.

Overpriced for quality

This application needs some serious work, you cannot see your sent messages, it doesn’t even give you a confirmation that the message was sent to begin with. You get messages from people regarding their rooms but they are not targeted, for instance I will get a message from someone seeking a female only roommate and I am a male. You can’t even open up the map to see Where the location is. You only get the thumbnail Of it, location is probably the number one concern for people and finding a place, and you don’t even allow the ability to zoom out or scan a map? That’s absurd. I could see paying maybe $20 a year for this but nowhere near the price you’re asking. I hope someone else comes up and put you out of business, way too expensive for the quality.

Paying to view messages - no warning of the change.

This I feel obligated to write a poor review due to this change. Yes, you can charge whatever you want to for the service you provide, and you do not have to care about how it effects people. It’s completely within your rights. This level of not caring deserve a poor review. This is an app that helps people establish their living situations, which can be necessary for them to be able to sustain themselves and manage finances in order to afford expenses that come up. When good apps have a change coming like this, they announce they date of change in advance and give people a chance to prepare. You could have done that. I don’t respect how this was done at all.

Didn’t Help

I was never able to find a roommate with Roomster. The search results are flooded with scams. It’s hard to find a legit person without having to scroll through thousands of spam. They need a tech to go through these and delete them all. I reported a bunch of postings from one scam account but yet they have not got rid of them. The account is named this app Partner. Beware of that one.

My email has been flooded with notifications about messages, since people could post up a message and everyone on this app will get notified. It’s a tactic to get you to pay to view them, when really those messages are worthless. Luckily, I was able to find roommates without this app. this app made me want to give up on looking tbh, since it seemed hopeless.

By

Tough to use but their support team did help me out

I was having a hard time using Roomster and left a negative review (couldn’t find it otherwise I would have deleted it), the support team did reach out to me about my negative experience and they did end up helping me out and I was able to find a pretty cool roommate off Roomster. Wish it wasn’t so tough to use but it makes sense since they need to try to weed out the fake profiles.

By

better off using facebook

i was excited to download this at first, thinking it looked user friendly… only to find out that Roomster requires a $10/ WEEK subscription just to message potential roommates… just an absurd price point and ridiculous to charge for this kind of service. Additionally, reading the developer’s responses to legitimate user complaints makes me even less likely to use this service to recommend to others (calling complaints ‘fake’ ??) You’re better off using Facebook groups or Bungalow.

Additionally, not every app charges for their services (many use ad revenue to bring in necessary revenue), and they certainly don’t charge $10 every week. Complete scam.

By

BEWARE!! MONEY GRAB!

You can't really do anything because your "approval" requires a $15 "ID CHECK". Then when you do that, you immediately get a bogus "message" from someone. Obviously this is system generated as I didn't even have a profile set up in the first minute. When you click on the message it tells you that you need to spend $9 for only 7 days of service. So a fake message gets you to spend an additional $9 for nothing. I'm trying to get a refund but their "10 minute response" has now been over 2 HOURS. So much for "24/7 support" as displayed in app. Avoid this piece of cr@p app at all costs. Bait and switch garage. Apple needs to do something about this scam.

Great App

After viewing what seemed like 1,000 different sites in search of a reliable room finder.. I finally came across this app. Roomster is honestly amazing!! Not only are there a significant amount of rooms available in their listings, you can filter out personal preferences, and the people who post the listings are verified by more than one source. That alone is great and provides a sense of comfort when looking for a room!! Highly recommended!!

By

Not good, remarkably bad in fact

There’s no free trial. It’s $10 per week or $30 per month. The majority of listings are from people who don’t pay for the subscription so they can read or respond to messages which leads to offers to connect off-app which completely defeats the purpose. There’s a megaphone option that isn’t really explained, and since you can’t send or read messages without paying most people just spam everyone with that option. The only search and sorting criterion is price. You can’t view the rentals on the map… I could go on.

Roomster is more of a dating app

No one ever reads your profile before messaging you. So you constantly get messages by listings you don’t want. 98% of all the people with listings are men who wants FEMALES ONLY..that’s dangerous and a total joke. Most of these people ask you to text them outside of Roomster (which we pay so we can message without sharing our number) mostly couple looking for females and you can’t have over nite guests even though they have each other. But it’s mostly ken trying to trap women and scams trying to get you to text dangerous numbers. No one has taken Roomster seriously. It’s just like a dating app. No thanks

By

Love the app

I love Roomster. It’s super easy to use and navigate through and you are able to apply many different filters while searching. I like that your also able to read a bit about each person on their profile. A major plus is the multiple verifiable accounts they use to maintain security throughout Roomster .

Scammers fakes and bad programming

So I tried Roomster and barely made any money using it there seems to be a lot of scammers homeless people drug attic’s and prostitutes on Roomster so I wouldn’t highly recommend it being that everybody on Roomster is pretty much sketchy worst of all the Apple programmers are constantly ripping people off on the money and not giving them the service that they actually purchased around into that time that problem multiple times and I’ve complained of the company also there seems to be some fake reports from people that are interested in damaging somebody else’s reputation so be very careful on this website.

By

LET ME BROWSE

I was curious about Roomster , and wanted to browse it to see what it was about (I’m not ready to inquire about a roommate, but may be interested at some point).

Roomster does NOT let you browse and will force you to put up an actual listing just to use it. I even put in a mock listing and deleted it, and Roomster immediately prompted me to put in another listing before letting me continue. That seemed weirdly aggressive to me, so I just uninstalled Roomster and probably won’t bother to ever download it again. If it’s not even going to give me a chance to decide if it’s worth my time, then it’s probably not.

By

Fake accounts and expensive service

Joined thinking Roomster was going to be similar to Roomie, but boy was I wrong!

I don’t know how many times I’ve seen a user with a one picture profile and the same copy paste description as the rest with minor changes. App says I’ve gotten 7 messages so far, but since I can’t see them I don’t even know what they are about; it could be scammers, real people, or if the same app creators made bots to message people and entice them into paying for their overpriced subscriptions, honestly I’m better off with Facebook Mktplce or even Craiglist… maybe

Never had a problem but won't use again because of reviews

I found my first rental in Denver through app. Amazing, no issues, cancelled subscription and had zero unauthorized charges. Second time around we had to find a new roommate. Since it had worked out so well before, we tired this app again. I did cancel subscription yet still charged $34. I disputed charges with and heard back from this app customer service within a couple days saying they would refund charges. Amazing! We did have to find a third roommate, as it was a 4 bedroom house with no lease, we each room one week terms paying weekly fee and spring with potentials. There was a lot more sketchy people and took much longer to get responses. Personally, I wot give you the time of day unless you pay for subsection because I am and seeking serious individuals. Our most event roommate found is absolutely the best you could hope for. Took a couple weeks because of no responses but glad to have found him. Now months, I have to move out and I found out his card has been charged an absurd amount even though he cancelled the profile. He did some research and found multiple complaints to the better business bureau regarding the same issue. And the customer service line takes you directly to a poor ladies wrong number. I have recommended Roomster to friends but have nothing but negativity. Roomster use to be helpful but has gone under the radar. Obviously poor and sketchy management. Anyone have better suggestions?

MONEY SCAMMING APP, DON’T GET

I’m writing multiple reviews so people can read this and save their money and possibly bring these people to justice because many of us want our many back. This is the worst app ever. Not only have I had many people who bought the stupid subscription and wasted so much money monthly tell me they never got any answers back, but Roomster tricks you into buying the subscription as well and they have a no refund policy that they never tell you unless you ask. Roomster initially tells you that you only needed to spend $10 for a background check which then you wait a little bit and if it’s approved it then tells you that you need to also spend another monthly amount. This is ridiculous because not only did they lie and stole my money, they won’t give it back because of their no refund policy that they failed to mention at the beginning. Even worse is that this is just like one of those stupid dating app with a bunch of fake people or just people that never use Roomster because like many people have told me they message 10s and 100s of people and never get an answer after months and months and money wasted. So now the only thing you’ve accomplished is that you got robbed by Roomster because they’re a bunch of scammers that need to be brought to justice and give all of us our money back.

Worst app I have ever used!

I am giving this five stars so it will actually appear in the list of reviews. If you give one star it automatically gets hidden. I downloaded Roomster a week ago. I reached out to over 20 people in a week. Most of them didn’t get back to me. But those who did all asked for my phone number and email. I realize they were data fishing. When I ask why they wouldn’t communicate via Roomster they stopped responding. Over 30 people reached out to me. when I didn’t respond instantly they removed the message. The same person named Motley messaged me 15 times. Sent a message and immediately withdrew it. I’ve never seen anything more ridiculous in all my life! In a week of daily searching, reaching out to dozens of potential apartments, and having dozens of people reach out to me I only interacted with one legitimate potential roommate. One roommate in a week! Everything else was fake… Everything! I sent five messages to support about this and also reported one of the users who constantly reached out to me named Motley. Customer service never responded to my questions. Never! Instead they said a constant stream of offers for me to upgrade my account. Halfway through the week my account was erased in the middle of using Roomster . I had to sign up and complete my profile all over again and was charged another fee of $7.99 for a week of use. Save your time, energy and frustration. Never use Roomster!

So disappointing...

I’ve had Roomster for a while. A very long while. I’ve paid for the subscription for idk how many months now. Sent numerous messages to people and received numerous messages as well. Initially I thought man Roomster is great! I managed to personally meet someone who could have been a potential roommate but she flaked on me. The next person I communicated with had an even better offer...until I found out they weren’t even the owner of the house I WENT TO and talked to about renting. They were scamming me thank goodness I never paid them anything. What measures are being taken to prevent this kind of thing from happening??? Since then, I’ve had no luck. Roomster hardly works and I have to sign in every time I use it. It shows pictures and names that don’t actually match once you’ve swiped through a few times. I don’t think that the messages actually go through most of the time or they’ll suddenly be removed so who the hell am I sending these messages to? I’ve even been told I was passed up because there’s nothing on my profile which led me to realize none of the details I’ve added to my profile actually loads or saves and therefore looks sketchy. Roomster needs a lot of work. It’s a shame I can’t get my money back because it’s just gone down the drain. I’m giving this until the end of the week only because I contacted someone but at this rate I’m sure they’ll never respond.

Worst App EVER!

I’ve only had Roomster for TWO days and nothing but problems! Firstly, the range preferences are buggy—very difficult to set. Secondly, many of my messages were deleted and NOT by me! Thirdly, I paid for a subscription. When I reported these issues to customer support, my issues were completely ignored! this app has no problem trying to push you to upgrade on top of a subscription, taking yet more of one’s money in the process, while providing a horrible, seemingly scammy product! UPDATE: this app deleted my account after 4 days when I paid for a week! DO NOT BUY Roomster—Rip off—ZERO customer support! They will take your money and run! And what’s more, if you have the audacity to report bugs or lack of customer support, they will make bogus claims that you have been reported by other Roomsters and delete your account without warning! I NEVER engaged in hate speech or acted inappropriately or promoted an “agenda” as they claimed. All I ever did was to introduce myself as a Veteran, a Peace Corps Volunteer, and a professional looking for a room for under $900 in certain areas that I lived and commuted in—that is all! You’re better off using CL, which is FREE! And if someone lists an ad for a room in CL and then asks you to sign up for this app—REPORT THEM as this is a violation of CL policies. Roomster is an absolute nightmare and obstacle for people trying to find affordable housing!

Unauthorized charges without any email or notification! Horrible customer service! Don’t purchase!

Horrible app to start with, most profiles they show are inactive and have been inactive for months or years prior. The few profiles that are active are users who don’t pay for Roomster and therefor can not send or receive messages. Totally useless please don’t waste your money! Not to mention that even if you buy a five day trial for $9 they automatically charge your card $25 unauthorized. And they will keep charging your card without any notification, no communication, no notification of these charges being made. Completely unprofessional and their customer service is horrible, no help whatsoever. Rude people, bad app, flooded with inactive profiles that makes it hard to navigate or find anyone on there. They don’t send any notifications about messages or charges they make without your consent to your credit card. They do not tell you that your card will be charged over and over and over unless you manually deactivate the account after the trial you pay for ends. If I am purchasing a five day trial I want only the five day trial and afte that it should just end. They are scammers who hide the information so they can make unauthorized charges to your card after your trial ends. DO NOT PURCHASE. NOT WORTH IT.

Identify theft!! My email and apple account under attack and signing up

Moments after I signed up for a paid subscription my phone wouldn’t stop notifying me that someone was trying to get into my account. The whole time I am getting these great listing requests from Roomster in my email but I try to open them and the screen reads ACCOUNT HAS BEEN DELETED. The one email that did come through directly from a person with a listing asked my to send a photo I’d of my drivers license and all my contact information. She even included pictures of the home and an address near where I was searching. Totally fake. Support?? There is no support number that connects you to a person. It tells you to log into Roomster for help, which again is impossible do to my account being DELETED. I paid and I can’t tell you with any certainty any single listing I saw was authentic. Get ready to use your two-factor authentication process after signing up so whoever uses it can’t break into your email. PLEASE BE CAREFUL, THIS IS NOT A FEW SCAMMERS SPOILING THE BUNCH, Roomster SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN DESIGNED TO GET YOUR INFORMATION. EASIEST WAY TO ACCESS TO YOUR INFORMATION IS JUST TO SET UP A WAY FOR YOU TO SUBMIT IT YOURSELF. It’s awful but you have to admire these balls and intelligence of this “company.” Could be three guys in an office and feels as such but who knows.

The worst ever in the history of ever

I have never left a review for an app before but I feel so passionately about my experience with this app, I must let others know. If I could give ZERO stars I would. I have been a long time user of this app, I have paid, I have actually found a couple of roommates that have been great, but lately Roomster is complete NONSENSE. My account has been deactivated TWICE without my knowledge or consent, claiming “inappropriate behavior”. After the first time I tried to call customer service (don’t worry, the number leads you to an automated message telling you to log in to your account to reach customer service...but OH WAIT I can’t do that because you DEACTIVATED my account AFTER I PAID YOU). After almost a week I was able to log back into my account with a message claiming they “investigated” the matter and found no wrong doing on my part...OBVIOUSLY. Now today it has been deactivated again. I’m just trying to find a roommate!!!! This is completely unacceptable, Apple should REMOVE this app from Roomster Store because all they do is scam people out of money. Also they claimed that if I wanted my money back for the week that my account was deactivated I needed to contact Apple because they are the ones that I am paying. Such dirty lies!!!! DO NOT USE this app UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

BEWARE IF SCAMMERS!

Someone on Roomster tried to scam me! This women texted me through the this app app and asked me if I was still looking for a roommate! I said yes! She gave me the address to the house and told me to rent the room it will be $500 monthly! I responded and said ok I would like to view the home tomorrow if possible. She responded and said oh I am sorry I am out of town caring for my sick mother so I am unable to show the home right now. I responded and said well how can we do business if we can’t meetup? She said oh you can make the down deposit with Zele and then I will send you the key in the mail!.... REG FLAG ALERT! RED FLAG ALERT!!! I said I don’t trust doing business over the phone! So she tried to say well I can prove I am trustworthy I will send you a photo of my id! She sent me a video of her holding her id in which I responded and said how do I know thats you in the video!?? So I tried to call her and the number went straight to a textnow app voicemail... This women was obviously trying to scam me! NEVER EVER DO BUSINESS OVER THE PHONE WHEN RENTING A ROOM! NEVER!!!!!!! BE AWARE! BE VERY AWARE! PPL ARE CRAZY THESE DAYS! Also the women who tried to scammed also pretended to be other people she texted me from different numbers pretending to be somebody else and tried to scam me from different numbers pretending to be different ppl!

Tried to report a scam

I tried to report a scam to the 24/7 customer report I told them I was scammed. I have all the man who scammed me information. I tried to make it noticed to the company of the man who was doing this. I have All OF HIS INFORMATION! Name, address, email address (which you need to sign up for Roomster ). I was trying to let them know I was in FACT scammed I was not looking for them to do anything but potentially block his email/his user name from posting future listings. I told them he deletes the listings and I could not report the actually listing. They were rude to me and told me not to mail them back and to report the listing which I can not. He removed it. That does not prevent him from posting a different/new listing which will be an other scam. They are not being helpful in anything. I have reported him to the police in my area and alerted the bank (we both use the same bank). I do blame myself but when filing reports to the police I get told people come to them multiple time a day reporting fraud. I'm not asking for my money back or anything it's a matter of not letting a man who I KNOW is a scammer and I have reported to the police for fraud to not let him keep scamming people. They did nothing to help me in my case to help AFTER THE MAN TOOK EVERYTHING DOWN.

SCAM Scam Scam!!

WORST APP EVER! Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if the whole app is a scam. I keep getting spam messages asking me to send in my information, sign lease and send money. I don’t think there is any verification process here so anybody could just message you. I have had about 6 people all named Tammy sent me the exact same messages about similar rooms. Someone even emailed me a page of passport to "prove" they are real people so I can send them money (absolutely ridiculous!). The only good thing is the scam listing are pretty easy to spot after a while - no details, weird writing, overly friendly, too good to be true, and just email address. The actual listing (if there were any) that I reached out never responded to me. NOT a single one. When I reached out to customer services they told me to report any link that seemed like scams so I started reporting and reported probably OVER 60 SCAM posting in less than a week. Every time I reported a scam, I would receive 5 more messages within hours - all pretty much saying the same. I even paid the $8 (only for a week) for access to messages, turned out to be all spam and such a waste of money. PLEASE DO NOT waste your time and money on Roomster. Similar apps with very similar names are much better.

This app is kind of a scam

So it’s free to download but you can’t really use Roomster without being able to message somebody, and sending messages requires 8 DOLLARS TO UNLOCK FOR 5 DAYS. On top of that, I’m pretty sure in my city at least there are planted/false listings to make it look busier and better than it really is. Things sound too good to be true (that little money for a private bed + bath in that location?!?!) or no one replies to you but the post is then duplicated. On top of that, they totally have people on Craigslist desperately trying to direct you to Roomster , and you know they aren’t real people because again no real response just pleas to contact them on the this app app only, which makes no sense when no money is required to contact people on Craigslist directly but 8 dollars is needed to contact people on this app indirectly. That is, unless this app is paying you to make them look good, lol. Such a huge rip-off and time waster for people already stressed out about finding an apartment but under the guise of being “certified,” as if their listings are more legit because you fill out a profile for them. I’ve met real, great roomies on Craigslist. this app is a prime example of our late capitalist society at its banal worst

Buy the subscription

Honestly, I had been looking for a room to rent and needed something quick and easy. I signed up for a bunch of other websites and apps to try and find a room. I then downloaded Roomster and realized that a lot of the things I needed to use required the subscription and I said sure why not. I paid it and looked through rooms. I honestly spent about two weeks looking then gave up. Don’t get me wrong, I had some responses but nothing ideal. Then, after deleting Roomster someone contacted me through my cell number and I was able to find a room to rent with some great roommates! If I ever need another place to live, I will most likely use Roomster again. I canceled my subscription and there was no problem. Roomster really helped me find a place with good timing and less fraud with many options. I really do recommend Roomster! But get the subscription.

Use other better services

this app’s UI is clunky and doesn’t allow as many filtering options as many other competitors such as Trulia room rental search and SpareRoom. They also have much less listings compared to the other more popular sites, making the fee not worth it. The User experience is not good, you cannot even use Roomster to search unless you put a personal add up about what you want to rent. They also spam you with a lot of direct messages from people advertising rooms, most of the messages are immediately unavailable when you try to view them in Roomster . I turned off all the notifications because I was getting so much spam. In the meantime, I was charged for another months service. I informed customer service on the 1st morning of the new billing cycle that I would not be using the service and requested a refund and would have gladly had my premium benefits removed. Customer service was completely unwilling to assist.

I had nothing but bad experiences with Roomster and company. You are much better off using trulia room rental for free. I ended up finding a room there anyway after wasting my money on this app.

Deceiving App and Scam

Essentially 9/10 people on Roomster are bots. None of them are really verified and the same listings are being posted over so they seem recent. I’m sure this app knows this because it’s literally the same name and pictures reposting places and none are flagged. You will think you should get the premium service since you can’t actually write anyone without it but after writing nearly 30 people I realized they were all bots. The only people who respond will ask for your email address to send more information. Ironically Roomster messaging board allows for pictures and detailed messages, so don’t share you email or contact info. this app bots have also taken over craigslist roommate postings where a lot of the links lead back to this app.
I don’t know why iTunes puts all those 5 star reviews first but feel free to check out the 1 star reviews. Be sure to cancel and maybe contact back to stop payment I just cancelled subscription but I’ve heard of people getting recurring payments although they cancelled.

Your better off finding a Facebook closed group for roommate in your desired city.

This app is horrible it’s actually allowing scammers on their site and all contact to Roomster has been unsuccessful. I was recently scammed in the amount of $1000. The individual in question said her name is Colleen M Coghlan from Virginia. After I sent the money through Zelle she requested another $500 to mail me the key-claiming she spoke with the director of FedEx who informed her she had to pay $500 to insure the key. For all who are yet to sign up with this app please be careful. It’s fraudulent and I everyone needs to know this.
