Dump every calculator you have, I had 4 before I found this, they all sucked because they did not touch on the human being side of things like DigitsTapeCalculator does so well.
Very few app creators are remembering that there is flesh and bone on the other end of these devices, DigitsTapeCalculator nails it.

#1 BEST FEATURE (for me): has to be the “comments integration”, it’s the only reason I bought it at first actually, I’m hoping they will expand even more on the identification elements of each mathematical entry, it’s so nice to see exactly what each line represents “in real life”, so to speak....which is challenging considering the limited amount of real estate on these phones, I get it. Nice.

#1 RARE APP FEATURE: (I’ve never seen this on a “Utility” App).....the Customizable Color Wheel in settings...It actually has a semi-full color range HUE slider, with saturation etc....that’s really rare (Outside of the Smart-Home lighting Apps themselves)...these guys are on point.

(Why a 4?) = Overall 1 dope App, but yes I am a stickler, I am missing the ability to enable ‘Night Mode’, which is mentioned in App description & screenshots....But I do see it: it’s under the “Upgrades Tab”, for purchase @ .99 (I assume), but it still says “coming soon”...?
(I’ll bump to a 5 soon as its working tho!)

DEVELOPER(s) —> keep up the good work - mention the Color Wheel in your description & boost those downloads even more....

I had a perfectly good calculator app for my iPad. Then, the developer changed everything without notice. I mean everything! DigitsTapeCalculator was so different and functionality went to zero. I searched for a new calculator for over a month, then ran across this on an old recommendation from Kim Komando. Wow! Perfect! It does everything I need, and nothing more. Please, do not update it to something else. I paid for all the add ons, as well.

Update May, 17:
In the same way that you considered the need of those users, please consider the need of the users that understands how the toolbar works and don’t want to hide it every time they launch DigitsTapeCalculator to reclaim real state. A single button in settings “Remember the toolbar position” will do the trick. For new installations, the “Allow Tool Bar Hidding” could be disabled by default in order to prevent the accidental hidding. Then, savvy users, could access settings and enable hidding and my suggested button for remember the hide/not hide toolbar status. Thank you.

Update May, 13:
The last update have a setting to enable hidden the tool bar...however I want a setting to PERMANENTLY hide the tool bar. (Visible only if I swipe up on the result “handle”)

I will love to permanently hide the bottom icon bar. While I understand that the developers need to highlight the In-app purchases section, It takes away screen real estate. I also already purchased the themes. A few versions earlier you can hide the icon bar and it will stay hidden.

I have the original version of DigitsTapeCalculator before the complete rewrite. The main reason that I bought the original version was the ability to export the tape. Now I am being asked to pay to get that feature back, and that just seems wrong. I wish I had not updated the original app.

To reply to the developer comments - I have an old version still on one device, and I can DEFINITELY export the tape via email.

UPDATED - I paid for the upgrade to export as pdf. It does not work. Still have to go back to my old device with the previous version to export my tapes. Frustrating.

This was just what I needed after buying my first iPad Pro and discovering there was no native calculator app. That’s ridiculous by the way, but good for DigitsTapeCalculator I suppose. My suggestion is that you create a setting for the keypad to shrink down to normal calculator size when in portrait mode. It’s absurdly large in that orientation, even for my big hands. The smaller keypad setting in landscape mode is just about perfect. Thank you.

I would give them a zero if I could. There are plenty of free calculators out there but, I paid this company $3.99 to get a great calculator on my phone that would have the features I wanted. This cost more than just buying a calculator in a store. I've been using it for years and loved it until what I thought was a benign upgrade. Now they want to charge me AGAIN for some of the features I was using. Simple features like changing the obnoxious yellow that burns my eyes to a more acceptable color. They now want $2 more to get the calculator I had back. This is theft! I feel betrayed. Just another money grubbing company gouging their existing customer base! It's despicable! BEWARE!

I’ve tried many many apps and I can recognize those which are truly GREAT and for which there is no rating high enough to describe them. This is one of those few. If you have any calculating need at all, Digits is so good, that you should try it and see if it meets your needs, as it will be a joy to use. Kudos to the developer.

I've tried a lot of cal, but I use this one every day for simple cal and do track my and my family shopping.
Especially the comments are fantastic.
Just I wish it had date tracking of calculation and comments.
I hope DigitsTapeCalculator makers in next versian make it easy to have the time and the date of each calculations.

I had to come back again and write another review. I use the calculator 15-20 times a day and have been for years. I even waited through the entire period on the developers to make a version for the new OS. Guys, if you’re reading this, please keep this going. I would seriously pay more for DigitsTapeCalculator without a problem.

Best “Simple” calculator app ever! Purchased DigitsTapeCalculator when it first came out and I loved it then and I love it now! Very simple and easy to use. I love how you can save and edit your tapes and name each line item with comments! So many useful features and functions! Great job on the updates please keep them coming! The only thing I would like to see added is a $ sign for currency calculations.

New feedback - For some reason unknown your calculator now takes around 5 second language to register a calculation? Didn’t used to behave this way in earlier versions, so is not now slower as a result of being cloud based?

I've been using DigitsTapeCalculator for sometime now and I love the way it has a tape that I can see what the amounts are that I have entered, this way I can also go back in and revise the amount if need be, however, I wish it had a safety on the delete key asking you “are you sure” instead of deleting everything right away. Now i have to put all my figures back in.

I’m updating my review since I’m currently using ver 3.0.7. It is once again a great calculator! It was a long wait for the update to version 3, but I am very impressed how well it works. Being familiar with how software works with QA, integration with various Operating Systems, I understand why it takes time (but as a user, I’m as impatient as the next!😀) and I can say the programmers did an excellent job!👏👏👏

This is one of the best calculator there is. During a period when this application wasn’t functioning due to apple’s iOS constant changes. I was force to pay close to $100 in search for similar functioning calculators but all wasted.

Love the design. Something I like to be added is the tax & amount to be shown on display within the calculation.

Nice to get your bills organized and budget your expenses. No need to wait for your excel file to open. Just type your numbers and edit accordingly updating the results automatically. I opted for the export function as well to share the “tape” (output) with my family. It’d be nice if one could also import CSV files.

I’ve been using digits forever, and was really sad when it didn’t work for awhile. Super nice to have it back and that my purchase of DigitsTapeCalculator was still valid.

One gripe—it would be nice to be able to move the tape to the right side of the screen since I’m a lefty and it’s a little awkward to have it on the left. Would this be possible?

I’ve been a long time Digits user from when they first came out years ago. I was disappointed in that they took almost a year to support iOS 11 but wow was the wait worth it. The newly rebuilt app is leaps and bounds better than before!

If you’re looking for a tape calculator don’t look any further. Digits is the best one out there!

Sometimes I think that font size in tape is too small for elderly people or others who want this.
So could it be possible adding option about changing font size in tape, please?

By far, my favorite calculator app! Bought the IAP without hesitation to support development, because I never want to be without Digits again. My only requests would be to support the Apple Watch and to change the icon colors when the theme is changed within DigitsTapeCalculator . Other than that, it's perfect!

Boy did absence make the heart grow fonder...missed Digits big time during the rewrite.

Let’s stipulate that all calculators have to calculate correctly to be useful. OK, then what differentiates one calculator app from another? Functions & capabilities, yep, but in the category of basic calculator apps that do what 95% of users need, it boils down to design and not being annoying (ads, etc).

Digits does the basics and more in an easy and intuitive way. Tape function is very useful. The design is, hands down, no equivocating, the best I’ve seen. And it’s not annoying.

Makes me smile when I open DigitsTapeCalculator .

I left the Digits app on my devices even though it was no longer working or being supported, in hopes it would happen some day. I was so excited to discover yesterday that it is back! I have tried many other calculator apps in the meantime ... this remains the best!

Thanks for updating this very useful app finally, note that once the multiplication/division priority is enabled, then the calculation is sure better and less confusing to be displayed in one line, for example: 15 + (2x3)=21, so 2x3 should be displayed in one line. This is what your competition app does as well and it sure fits the purpose. Alternatively you can add parentheses to number pad as well.
