    Large Two Story Home

    Last year I had to replace the entire first floor HVAC system. The company providing the new HVAC system also removed my old Honeywell programmable thermostat and replaced it with another brand name thermostat. I didn’t think much about it at the time as I thought I was getting an updated thermostat. It was a horrible mistake! With two different manufactures of smart thermostats trying to adjust temperatures in the house, in short, was not working! I finally got mad and replaced both of them with these new Honeywell units. I really like the iPhone interface with both units. It is extremely easy to program and very versatile. My home is maintaining a much better comfort level while not having two HVAC units fighting for control or one not running at all. I am a little disappointed that Honeywell will not provide a common interface between the two thermostats. Ie. Both HVAC units should be running at same time so that one unit is not carrying the entire load of the home. If one unit is on, the other will not since a need to operate (at least for a little while). But, I’m not an HVAC engineer and there may be other issues here, such as a confused homeowner. Regardless, these two thermostats seem to balance my home much more effectively and efficiently than my previous set up. And the two HVAC units seem to get along with each other now. So, 5-star because they are working better than I expected!

    So far it’s the best I’ve had..and I had a few..

    I just installed a new Carrier high efficiency furnace in our vacation cottage up north Michigan. I had bought a $99 Honeywell RTH6580 at first, installed it and found out it didn’t have any battery backup. Since it’s a vacation home, I want the thermostat to remember the settings because I’m only there if you times per year and the power seems to go out regularly. No where could I find anything about a backup system, so I tested it by turning the furnace off for a while and reconnecting. The thermostat went to a much higher (probably a preset) heat setting than I had it. So that thermostat came off the wall and went back to the store. Then I tried a $99 Sensi. It was very difficult to set up, I never could get it to connect plus it only went down to 50° and I needed to go down to 42 because that’s the temperature I keep my cabin in the winter. So they one came off the wall and went back as well. I then bought the Honeywell RTH9585. It stores settings in permanent memory, not just limited battery back up, which is great because sometimes power is out for several hours, and no batteries to change. its goes down to 40, was really easy to set up and connect to my router, app has worked flawlessly. I love it so far. And I’m getting a $50 rebate from the electric company for installing it...awesome.

    Works Great!

    I don’t understand why when you try to do a temporary override of the system the maximum time you can override is 3 hours. When you pull up the screen to override it, it shows the maximum adjustable end time as the time until the next program starts which would be great. Once you set it to override until the next program period you think everything is ok but if you go back in to review it the override has reset to 3 hours from the current time. Today is Thanksgiving and the business will be unoccupied and I want to override the system all day until the night setting kicks in. Unfortunately all I can do is override for a maximum of 3 hours at a time. This has been going on for over a year and I would think it would be corrected by now. UPDATE: After doing some more digging I found out that the thermostat itself has a setting that can limit the length of any override. The app would submit the override request but the thermostat would limit the duration to 3 hours. After changing the thermostat setting for the maximum override time to 12 hours the app worked flawlessly. Also found out the thermostat has holiday settings that allow any holidays you pick to have a different schedule.

    More than satisfied

    I have a lot of wired devices in my house so it was logical that I'd install a wireless thermostat. I have two thermostats working this app. They have performed flawlessly. Scheduling function works great. Additionally I like the fact that I can set the thermostat to a hold temperature for vacations, and then have the system return to the comfortable temperature while I'm on my way home with a simple wireless command. Since I travel a lot, both domestic and international this feature has been wonderful. Even at home it pays dividends. Nothing worse than being at the pool all afternoon and remembering you left the temperature on the air conditioning turned low. This allows me to simply raise the temperature and put the house back at a comfortable temperature before returning back inside. The software was easy to use easy to install and we've had no problems. I have it on both my iPhone and my iPad and it works great. It even works well from the comfort of your own bed. During the worst of the thermostat wars, no one actually has to get up anymore to adjust the thermostat just grab your mobile device from the nightstand and all is well.

    Very Satisfied !

    My original digital thermostat was not holding temperatures that well in my home so after reaching several brand names i decided to try the Honeywell 9000 WiFi thermostat . I installed it myself but found out my existing thermostat did not have a “C” wire needed to power up this device. After fixing that problem ,the thermostat powered up just fine , followed the screen prompts , connected to WiFi , downloaded the app ,all went very smooth . I found programming the daily heating and cooling schedule very simple . The app works very smoothly and never as issue with communication with thermostat . The thermostat controls a high efficiency HVAC system . Whatever problems people have had in the past with these units my have been resolved as I am very satisfied with its operation . There is not battery backup so unit does power off if loss of power but retains heat and cooling set points in memory. It has been seven months now with zero issues . If this device is not working properly for you after Install I would look closer for a settings not entered correctly or a problem with your system in general . Good luck
