For capturing a color of my siding I took a picture of a large area that was in the shade with bright sun light reflecting off adjacent surfaces. When I used the color capture feature, all paints came out too dark when held up to the vinyl siding. So, I increased the brightness of the photo using Photos until I could hold up my iPhone to the siding using color capture and the brightness was the same. I found 2 good matches. Now, I will get some samples and find out if the matches are real. Note that I turned up the brightness on my IPhone to max before I started this exercise.
This weekend I decided to finish painting our basement downstairs and wanted to blend the color with another color from Behr I purchased two years ago. I was very happy to find the colors quickly but even more happy that the feature to see the color in my room was returned. This is for now a competitive advantage and definitely a value add. The ability to see what I want in my space and go to store to get exactly that is the primary reason I purchased paint at Home Depot versus another store.
Glad that Home Depot listens to customer feedback. They brought back the tool that lets you take a picture of a room and see what it might look like if you painted it a certain color. It's obviously not perfect, but it's useful for imagining what colors of paints you might like in a very real way. All-around great app, and very glad Home Depot listens to customer feedback.
So I live in Alaska. We still carry all the paint products in the stores. However when I go to order a sample or buy a gallon (that I’ll pick up in store) it says it’s not available. When I go into the store they make the paint for me no problem. So why doesn’t the app recognize these stores. In the lower 48 states I didn’t encounter this problem.... I did see THD app says we can’t ship the product here but that doesn’t explain what is on the shelf and why I can’t place the order via the app and then pick it up.
I know it’s in Beta so just some feedback - I tried to upload a picture of the room from my camera role but it wouldn’t respond. I’m using my iPad Pro running version 12.4 if that helps the developers.
