A great little app but pricey

For the annual cost of 8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner I would want a little more. The actual program seems great, for me I know enough about how my body responds that I could replace a gym membership with this. And it also offers meal plans. I think everything is a bit more like guides than an actual ‘plan’. Just like with anything, you have to factor in what you know works for your body and your lifestyle but the program is highly adaptable so it should work for almost anyone. That being said, for the money I would want a little more. You can’t put in health conditions, like I have bad knees but there are no modified exercise options and they have me doing a ton of lunges. Ouch. There’s also no charts for your weight, measurements, etc... that’s just a personal preference, but seeing the line move down closer to my goal weight has always been the biggest motivator for me. So yeah, it’s great, a little basic but the workouts will make you sweat and the food options look very tasty and you can customize how often you repeat a meal. For someone like me who eats basically the same thing all week to cut down on costs, that’s a big plus. When my free trial ends I am seriously considering cancelling my gym membership and forking our the money for 8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner . Just a few tweaks would make it perfect in my opinion.

Loving It!

I love how customizable the meals and workouts are – especially the meals. I have tons of food allergies, plus the need to eat vegetarian two days a week. 8fit is the ONLY app I’ve seen that allows me to customize to this level, and I love it! I would rate it 5 stars if it weren’t for the shopping list. I tried it only once, because it dropped 3 of the meals (they didn’t show up at all on the shopping list). Plus, when I got home, some of the ingredients I had bought didn’t seem to appear in any of the recipes I had chosen. Third – but this is simply a preference – I wish the shopping list would group foods based on where they will show up in a typical grocery store: all produce grouped together, all dairy grouped together, all canned goods grouped together, all boxed and soft-pack goods grouped together, etc. I tried to select all the vegetables and fruits at once, and found out at the end of my shopping that the citrus was in a different category! So, I had to traipse back over there at the end, with my tired kids in tow, to get the lemons, limes, and oranges. Overall, though, I am loving 8fit! I have decided to continue with the paid plan of $60/year — Thank you for the free, 1-month trial, 8fit. That gave me a chance to try it out, revise, try again, revise, and find what worked just for me. Loving it!

Great app, app seems to be still starting out

The free version:
8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner has great exercises and gauges personal ability well by asking how you feel about the difficulty and enjoyment of each workout. They don’t have a lot of options for workouts yet though as it seems like they’ll be adding new ones as they continue to develop. The workouts are about 10-15 mins each and you can do as many as you’d like and the yoga sessions are mostly 15-30 mins so I like to do the tabata combined with my own cardio and weight routine in the morning and a yoga session in the evening. Routine is the key to success and 8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner really encourages routine, they even offer reminders (but I keep em off cuz I’m navy and my schedule is inconsistent.)

BEWARE!!
I enjoyed 8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner enough to try the pro version. 8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner advertises either $5/month or $10 for 3months. I selected the second option and Apple billed me a recent that says I’m being charged 10/month for three months (so $30 for three months!!) So now I’m paying twice as much for the pro version. Seems like a shady option to begin with but I’ve contacted support and will give them five stars if it’s an honest mistake ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ like I said it’s still a growing app but definitely gife it a shot!

Hard but worth it

I have a past of working with personal trainers and doing (very slow) sprint triathlons... then I got sick, very sick with a combination of inflammatory bowel disease, psoriatic arthritis and increasingly sever kidney failure. Now at 74 some of those are effectively treated but my diabetes after 10+ years of control by medication diet and exercise can no longer be controlled with medication which is contraindicated by my kidney failure. (The kidney failure began as “a side effect “ of an interaction by 2 prescribed medications)
The healthiest I have been in about 6 years, I have lost weight and feel better but need to start to challenging exercise again.. with a “helper” and this creative program seems to be a good fit. I already have improved my balance, my leg and arm strength. I can rise from a chair without help, I can get down on the floor and get up again and I have the ability with crutches to walk greater distances without hip pain. If you WANT to succeed in becoming more physically fit this program will help. The only way to fail is to stop doing! Go and do!

Clunky if you want to stay at a particular level

I really liked 8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner until I was not able to progress anymore and the exercises became difficult to do. I am 59 and just can’t do some of the exercises in Master III. When you finish a level, 8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner only gives you a choice to except the next level. This is a flaw, as it should say something like bump up or repeat current level. Instead is says continue to next level and you get know choice as far as I can tell. Once at the higher level, you can then chose that the routine is too difficult and bump down to a previous level, but, because you have already completed that level 8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner does not recognize or ask if you want to repeat the whole level again. It still shows all routines as being completed with the little green check in the upper left of the routine. Then after completing just one routine, 8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner thinks your all done with that level because the whole level is checked off and forces you to the next level again. Then vicious cycle continues. If 8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner isn’t fixed soon I will stop paying for it and switch to another app. I am hoping this review gets someone’s attention and they prioritize this fix and soon.

Great App but no support to help change CC billing.

Beware! —-I really like 8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner for my workouts. It helps with planning meals and getting in a great workout in a short amount of time. But I do want to throw caution out because I’ve been struggling for 2 years trying to get the annual billing straightened out so I can apply payment to a different credit card. I’ve had to continue paying annual fees on my credit card, just because of this one APP. iTunes doesn’t have record of my purchase, so I’m thinking maybe I went through Google for some reason. I’ve tried to figure out how to change my password and the instructions they give in the Q & A aren’t of any help and if you reach out they just send you to the Q & A area again. When I reach out to customer service they cannot tell me anything except for that they do not have anything to do with billing. I have NOT been able to locate where to change my billing credit card info. Last week I closed my credit card account, so we shall see what happens when they go to bill me. I caution anyone about using 8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner if it is so hard to manage your account. They need to upgrade their system. It’s really a shame.

Best fitness app ever!

I’ve recently been on a search for a fitness app that is easy to use, fits with my busy schedule, and is quick, convenient and effective at helping me achieve my goals. 8fit is all of these and more. The meal plans are easy to view and use, and you can actually change your meals if you don’t like a certain meal, and choose your meal preferences, such as vegetarian, vegan, pescatarian, paleo, standard, and choose allergies and exclusions. If you don’t like tomatoes, simply choose to exclude them from your plan. The meals are flavorful, very varied, and delicious. They’re also container-friendly, so great for meal prep.
The 8fit workouts are also quick, easy and effective. They typically take only about 15 minutes each, and you start out with a weekly goal of 4 workouts, so if you can’t make time in your day for exercising, you can just choose to work out tomorrow instead.
8fit is by FAR the best fitness app I have ever used, and TOTALLY worth the price.

Totally recommend!

I love love love 8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner! I am lazy by nature and a chocoholic who was blessed with a speedy metabolism. Then I turned 25 and realized I cannot eat like a dump truck anymore without working out. I have tried other apps, but they just didn’t motivate me and were either too easy and I wasn’t seeing results, or I just didn’t like the overall layout of the workout plans. Come 8fit. It is my savior. The workouts are so fast that there’s never an excuse to not do them, and I’m always drenched in sweat and left with Bambi legs. I love that it’s so tailored to your own needs and body. I’ve seen great results in absolutely no time, and I feel like I’m well on my way to that toned body I’ve always wanted, but never quite found the motivation to get. The only reason I’m giving it one less star is because I would totally pay for premium, but it doesn’t let you pay monthly. It’s an annual lump sum, and to be quite honest I don’t want to pay it all up front. If you change the payment plans, I will give the last star and definitely pay monthly for this godsend of a meal and workout program.

Good Workouts, needs improvements.

I’ve been using 8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner for a week. I love the workouts. The routines change daily and they are super easy to follow with the helpful videos. If there is an exercise that can’t be done because of physical limitations you can exchange it with another equally challenging one.

The only problem I have with 8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner is logging extra activities. I follow the apps workout but then I run on a treadmill or elliptical after. When I try to enter my time and calories burned, they don’t match what the machine has. 8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner doesn’t know what level I used on the elliptical or how fast or the elevation I had the treadmill set, but it still gives a preset calories number of calories burned based on time. It’s frustrating because I use 8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner with another calorie counter app and it’s not accurate. Even though I like 8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner, I’m going to start searching for one that fits my needs. I would have paid for the upgraded app, but I would still have the same problem. Hopefully 8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner just needs to be further developed. I will keep it for the workouts, but not the calorie counter.

Great for beginners too!

I had a significant life event and ballooned up over 100 pounds, and had severe mobility issues. I started using 8fit, because the idea of an 8 minute workout sounded like a good place to start. I wasn’t wrong. Given that I was terribly out of shape, they start you off with some really easy exercises you can do when your strength and ability is limited. There seems to be a range of workouts that will take you to much more advanced workouts too. I like that there is a progression, every workout has been more challenging than the last in a very dynamic way. I recently subscribed to pro, as well, so that I can get access to more varied and longer workouts. I don’t know if the meal planning is for me (some of these recipes are really weird), but it’s worth every penny on workouts alone. I definitely recommend 8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner for those trying to get back to some level of fitness!

Great fit app

I've recently begun working out and eating better. 39.5 years old and wanting to lose 40lb by 40yo. So far 8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner has been a great motivator for me. I have meal planning and exercise/workout routines set up for me. I can't afford the extra time to devote to a local gym as I am in a rural area with a busy home and work schedule, but this allows me to work from home with no extra equipment needed. I'm very pleased with the options, I can tailor food planning to my likes, change up workout options if something is too painful for my back. I have signed up for the year and I believe this will be something that I continue in the future. While I'm only 4 days into this, I'm impressed thus far and I believe the more I lose and the stronger/more experienced I become that the routines will grow with me. I found that I can devote 20 minutes to exercise easily with 8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner. Thanks!

Profile Needs Work, Useless until Addressed.

I’ll start with the positives - awesome UI. Fairly easy to setup. My issue is with their options as it pertains to setting goals. First off, “weight gain” is not an option. Furthermore the target body fat options they give via pictures are disproportionate. The pictures have different body types so the body fat percentage looks different on each body. For instance, I’m already a naturally thin person with a six pack (that isn’t super defined like it’d be on someone with nearly 0% body fat but it is noticeable). What I want is to gain weight to be a bit thicker and accentuate curves. The options they have for increasing body fat are terrible. The body one step up from mine looks like a sack of potatoes because their body type is square. The one a step up from that is an hour glass shape so they don’t look to have much fat on them at all in comparison. Therefore, it’s hard for me to figure out which percentage of body fat I’d ideally like with such opposing views. My suggestion is that they factor in body type into one’s profile. Body fat is going to sit differently on different frames. Until then( a full delete delete for me.

Awesome even if you’re not an exercise nut

I downloaded the free app because I wanted to add some varied exercises to my regular speed-walking. I’m not in it to lose weight (46 year-old mom, I accept my muffin top), just get stronger and make sure my whole body is engaged. You do have to steel yourself to ignore choosing an image of a perfect hard body, and tweak things so it’s not focused on just losing weight, but I find that if you do that you can really make 8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner work for health. I haven’t done the meal program because after about a thousand control studies all researchers agree that all you need to do is to eat real food and actually figure out what a single portion is. But I can tell you that even as a regular exerciser and occasional “NY Times 7 minute scientific workout” follower, these exercises will challenge you and make you stronger.

I love the app but it’s too expensive

To start off with, I love 8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner. I’m a recent college grad and I’m trying to lose that “freshman fifteen” that I never got off during school. The meal planning is amazing. I’m a vegetarian but I have always struggled to come up with good meals for myself that have variety. I also have an extreme sweet tooth and I have never been on a work out regime. This is has been an AMAZING last week. However, I’m on a budget and struggle to make rent. Though I recognize that 60 dollars a year is great for this plan I also know that I will probably not use this for a year and I cannot afford 60 dollars, that’s my whole weekly budget. When I signed up I thought that I could switch to a $30/ 3 months plan but now I realize that I was tricked into the $60 plan and the $30 plan is no longer available. I’m contacting customer service but judging by other reviews I’m not sure if they will be helpful.

If you have the money, go for it! I highly recommend.

DO NOT DOWNLOAD

So I downloaded 8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner and figured I’d try to work it into my routine. Started the free trial to check it out and see if it was what I was looking for. After about 1 day I decided that this wasn’t what I was looking for from an exercise standpoint. Didn’t get very far into the meal plans but had multiple repeat meals on day 1. So I went ahead and canceled my free trial. What I didn’t know was that if you cancel your trial through 8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner and don’t use the settings on your phone (this is not made clear whatsoever) that you will be charged for an entire year of membership after two weeks with no warning. So I got scammed and I wouldn’t recommend 8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner or this company to anyone. They won’t offer a refund even though I (thought) canceled within 10 minutes. Not to mention I immediately uninstalled 8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner so for the last 2 weeks I wasn’t even close to using it.

DO NOT RECOMMEND. Even if you like 8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner just know their customer support won’t work with you if anything ever goes wrong. I’d shoot for an app with better values (& quality).

I HATE exercise but LOVE this program!!

Woo Hoo! Fit 8 is the program for you if, like me, you hate to exercise or you have limited time! It’s super effective!

Fit 8 moves you through the exercises (which are reasonably different and fun but best of all super effective!) quickly so you don’t get bored, and the results are amazing!

After my first workout I thought, ‘That was doable (ie not boring), and pretty easy. Maybe I set it too easy?’ But NO! I was feeling it the next day in a good way! This short little program had me feeling tighter, standing and sitting straighter the next day! Because my body felt more toned right away I found I want to eat better, even when I’m faced with some sugary delight (I’m a sucker for a gooey pastry)!

I’m hooked! Ordinarily I can find a million and one reasons to have no time to workout, but Fit 8 makes me actually WANT to continue. I do it as soon as I get up in the morning because it’s so quick it’s easy to fit into my schedule and energizes me, putting me in a positive frame of mind because I feel like I’m accomplishing something that’s making me healthier and that I’ve never accomplished before (remember, I HATE exercise)! I can’t believe I look forward to the next day’s workout! ME?? Yeah, ME!!

Thank you, thank you, Fit 8!

Fantastic!!

While I don’t use the meal planning feature, since I already have a lot of education in nutrition and don’t find it difficult to stick to a healthy diet, the exercise plans are phenomenal. I was never the type to be active in the first place. I had a difficult time with workouts since I didn’t know how much to do or how long to do it and I found a lot of charts and such useless. However, 8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner provides exercises suited to your needs and experience. No workout is the same (mundaneness was another part I dreaded about workouts) and each one gets me moving. On top of that, they don’t exceed 15 minutes or so! I have finished my workout before I could even think that I was working out!! Please get it if you are struggling with finding fun, effective ways of getting active regularly!

Good app for ideas

I’ve been using 8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner for a week. I like the fact that I don’t have to come up with ideas for exercises. The exercises are simple which I thought might not challenge me but oh I felt it the next day even on the shoulder pulses which I thought to be a lame exercise. As others have mentioned, I dislike the fact that the videos don’t match what your doing; I.e. she’s still doing fast feet or shoulder pulses when it says to rest. 8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner could also be greatly improved by clear written instructions on the exercises. For example, when doing the wall push ups, I wasn’t sure if my heels were suppose to come off the floor or not. The videos don’t always show enough details. I was disappointed to have to pay to try out the meal planning so I haven’t used that portion. But overall, its very good for a quick workout without having to honk it up on your own and who can’t find 8 minutes in their day.

Overall good however

The jump from elementary to novice is quite extreme. From standing wall pushups to pushups on table at knee height (much harder than even pushups on floor on knees) and then from chair tap squats to a circle rotation with a deep squats way too extreme of a difference. The mods offered for the novice tend to either be go back to elementary or harder than novice. If one follows the program exactly and one is truly a beginner then the jump is too extreme and going back to elementary is a buzz kill. Also for months on end they promised specific work outs like abs, core, gluts, arms. Come to find out it only some have been loaded and only if you pay. Wud like that to be clear up front otherwise pretty much a bait and switch deal. Truly thgt they did a great job on elementary workouts. Let down by higher levels w the extreme jumps in ability required and no requiring pro membership for the workouts that said “coming soon” 4 months.

Love this ap!

I’ve been using 8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner for a couple of years. I’m nearly done with my second round through the program. I love that they’ve added classes nearly every day and different challenges. There’s also so many different circuits to choose from - a variety of hiit, Pilates, yoga, light weights, boxing, etc. If I don’t feel like doing my program, I change it up and pick a class or another circuit to try. I don’t use the meals regularly. I have tried some of the meals and have liked the ones I’ve tried. I like that they tailor the recipes to the calories you should be eating. It does make you think more about calories if you’re trying to lose weight. Overall I’ve been very happy using 8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner.

Great App

I never write app reviews but I am seriously loving 8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner. I got it for the workouts but have been pleasantly surprised by how awesome the meal planning is—that alone is worth it to me. I love not having to think about what I need to cook for the week and just shopping based on what 8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner says. It’s also highly customizable to fit your dietary needs, which is a godsend for me. Portion sizes feel HUGE, but everything you’re eating is real whole foods and I feel full for a long time. I have a very physically demanding and active job that I go to 3-5 days per week and the food has really been helping me have enough energy for that.

The workouts are fun. I hate going to the gym and the idea of an hour of exercise sounds terrible to me, so being able to finish a workout in 15-20 minutes is awesome. I have been consistently following the workouts for a week and I feel great already and have lost 3lbs.

To the developers: I would LOVE LOVE LOVE if there was a community aspect to 8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner—like a message board or ability to comment on things. It would be awesome to be able to talk to other people enjoying 8fitWorkoutsMealPlanner and support each other in our fitness goals.
