Great App!

Chuck is amazing! I finally have a way to get through the insane amount of emails I have in my inbox. I would definitely rate it 5 stars, if it weren't for the fact that the "Chill" function is suddenly buggy. While it worked flawlessly in the past, it appears that Chuck no longer has the ability to create the sub-labels needed in Gmail to chill emails for a specific amount of time. When I "chill" an email, it will disappear from Chuck screen for a while & then reappear a few minutes later in the inbox. Upon checking my account, I found that they are never actually leaving the inbox. I have uninstalled Chuck , removed the account, etc, but nothing has worked. However, if I create the necessary sub-folders myself, this app will move the emails to those folders. Please fix this issue, & I will update my review to 5-stars!

Also, please add the ability to go through emails in specific labels. I have thousands of emails stashed in labels, taking up space.

*Update* - The issue I was having with the Chill function was fixed. Thank you so much for this amazing app!

Extremely slow

3 stars for the simple fact that regardless of how slow Chuck is working, it’s still deleting emails faster than I ever could.

But, that doesn’t mean there isn’t work to be done. I’m in the process of clearing out my inbox of about 70,000 emails accumulated over the past 10+ years. I’m having trouble figuring out that the heck Chuck is doing most of the time, because it’s come and go when it comes to syncing. In settings, the “pending actions” only knocks about 1 off the queue every 12 hours. Meanwhile if there’s anything in that queue, no more emails are being loaded for me to delete. It also seems like it doesn’t work in the background, because I’ll put my phone down for an hour or two and come back to check on the progress and the pending actions and synced emails are exactly where they were before. That being said, I’ve also tried turning off my screen shut off so that Chuck is open and showing during a nap or something, and that hasn’t made a difference either.

I’ll add that I have had the same experience regardless of network connection, have tried 3 different WiFi networks and regular cell service, no diff. I can’t find a rhyme or reason. Every now and then I open it and I’m surprised to see the pending queue was taken care of and emails are syncing again. But that has been just a couple times a day.

Slow to load emails

I’m always open to trying new email apps as I’m constantly looking for new ways to organize emails, get rid of subscriptions, and other organizational benefits we’re all trying to achieve. As a baseline, I compare my experience with a new app to the things I like or dislike from previous experiences using apps that fall in the same category. I consistently ran into issues with this email client where the emails were very slow to load. By comparison, those emails immediately show up on my other applications using the same internet connection (wifi and/or cellular). I’m also the type of person to engage the developers to ensure they have the best feedback. In this instance the customer care rep indicated they’ve received no other feedback like mine since this version launched and suggested I reboot my phone. Again, my baseline is a phone that may or may not need a reboot — but other email apps work fine under the same conditions. But to satisfy the team, reboot completed and I’m still having problems loading emails. So, I’m not looking to argue or debate the issue and I’m definitely not going to keep using Chuck as I believe it needs more work. I would have given Chuck three stars but my interaction with the care team pulled it down to two stars.

Cleaned up 6000+ emails

this app, you’re doing something right. You’ve been my buddy this quarantine season. Over the years my email has turned into this unmanageable rats nest of subscriptions, to the point where I couldn’t find any of the things I really needed and was averse to even opening my email. This would sometimes make people angry, when I never got back to them. Something had to be done.
I had tried a couple other email apps, and they didn’t quite work out they way I’d hoped. But you’ve got something special.
Also I’ve had enough time to keep deleting shot while I’m home all day. But I definitely would not have made it through 6000+ unread emails without you. And I appreciate that. And I hope with your help I’ll actually keep up with my email and not get lost in the swamp again.
Stay safe!

Expect More From a Paid Email Client

I’ve been paying for this app for a couple years since it met my needs in a couple areas such as the unified inbox for 2 accounts, filtering and cleanup options. However, the annoyances now outweigh the positive aspects of this email client. The search feature is very annoying because it’s necessary to search each folder individually. It will not search all folders for a search term. The individual email viewing area is too small, even with my iPad Air. The new email load times are annoyingly slow. Those are 3 examples. In the past couple years the advances made in another iOS email client which is free to use make it superior to the paid version of this app. I will not be renewing my this app subscription after it’s current term.

In reply to the developer: I’ve been using this app or 2 years and have never seen a way to increase the viewing pane window. Also, i find it very difficult to believe that this app processes incoming mail faster than any other email client. It’s not been my experience at all.

This app changed my life!

I’ve accumulated so many email accounts over the years that sometimes I can’t keep track of them all in a timely fashion. Usually these accounts accumulate after the one I am using becomes an unmanageable spam magnet. Some of these accounts I’ve totally given up on. Others, I keep around for a number of reasons. I’ve been at storage limits without any easy way to clean these accounts too many times to count.

In comes this app... I can’t even begin to thank the people at this app for creating Chuck. this app solved my storage problem with the ease and simplicity of single digit addition and has helped me get a handle on my spam problem. If you have ever had this problem, you need this app.

I am a little disappointed that this app now requires a subscription to use with multiple accounts at a time. When I started using this app it was totally free. I’ve never had much money and right now spending on in-app purchases is absolutely out of the question. But overall if you have the money, by all means, this is where you should spend it. The need to pay for a subscription is my one and only complaint, but I understand.

Try this app! Pay for pro if you need it and can do it. But I guarantee you will NOT be disappointed. There truly is no app like this app.

Try it. You’ll like it. I did.

A dream come true.

I’m a person with about 10 email addresses, and a chronic email hoarder and subscriber — a bad combo. I just never think I’m ever 100% done with an email, and will need some info from it again at some point in the future. Not true. But now I have accounts with like thousands of emails (maybe around 20k-80k or so) per inbox. If these emails were real, actual mail, I’d be buried in mail. I’m like Maria, how do you solve a problem like me?

this app has provided an effortless solution to help me EASILY delete my hoarded emails. It is actually the perfect solution for people with email attachment (like a different kind of email attachment) like me. I’ll probably need a couple of days because I have so many email accounts, but now the task doesn’t feel Impossible. if I had stuck with Gmail’s app, I would’ve just kept all my trash emails forever. Thank you this app!

I thought i didnt need chuck

For about a year and a half I was using this app pro and maintained a decently clean inbox. About a month or two ago I decided to stop using it because I believed I didnt need it and I could manage my email on my own. Well Chuck is currently downloading again. My emails a mess i have so many emails im avoiding Chuck and missing important emails. I didn’t realize how much I relied on the features. The categorizing by sender is the feature i rely on most id say. Its a pain to search for each sender in other apps then delete individually.
I had one issue with a bug or server down a few months ago and customer support quickly responded to make sure everything was fixed on my end. Ill be sticking with this app, great customer service and a system that works !

Replaces email like no other... AMAZING!!!

I got this app 3 months ago, and I have used it ever since. This unique app really helps with email, even if you don’t receive the overwhelming amount it is designed to handle. It has smooth slick features that not only look nice, but are useful. Also, one nice feature is the fact that it organizes emails into pieces 1/4 the size of normal email. This is great because it makes emails much less overwhelming. Also, emails from the same person are grouped into the same box. Over all, only one minor complaint: please make the graph more accurate. I found that the graph was always the same. Excellent app, definitely the frontier of email. (Or at least I think so) Free, so if you don’t like it, toss it in the trash. But I doubt you will. Great, and good job the developers! 😀👍👍👍

Amazing when I can use it

I love Chuck when I’m able to use it. But unfortunately I can’t connect my outlook so I’m only able to manage my gmail on it. Since I can’t add my second account I see very little point in paying the subscription cost until I’m able to add my outlook. I’ve tried typing the password, using the authentication app, and even an app password, none of which have worked. Otherwise it’s an amazing app and helped clean up over 700 unread messages in 15 minutes (could be faster if I trusted the smart select options but I don’t yet lol)

Edit: was able to add my outlook. Fantastic app!

DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS APP

If i could give no stars I would. Chuck TRIED TO STEAL MY IDENTITY
I downloaded Chuck in hopes to delete some of the 10,000+ emails that I had. Most of them appeared to be deleted when I was on their app but when I would log into gmail, they were still on the gmail app. This was no biggie though, I was just going to access my email thru their app instead of gmail.

BUT THIS IS THE KICKER, the day after i allowed access to Chuck, i started getting emails of people trying to access different websites using the email address that I had logged into this app. Good thing I have another email address that I use for those particular websites because they were most definitely trying to steal my identity. Someone logged in my PayPal, tried to log in my Etsy account, they block someone from signing into my gmail from Nepal. This only occurred after downloading their app. I checked with google security and this was the only app I had allowed access to my gmail account!

Great when it works but...support is unattainable

Well I’ve had Chuck for a while and it really is great when it works. With a few swipes and a few minutes you will be amazed at how quickly you can have your inbox in control. However.... I have paid for the Pro version and on several occasions my app stops synching — sometimes for a week. I’ve tried to contact support and the reply is your account automatically synches! Ummm I wouldn’t be contacting you if that were the case. In both cases eventually my account resynched. But it was after days and not based on any effort or response from this app. The last time I suggested a refresh button as that seems rather intuitive. The support desk continues to claim that as soon as you open this app it will synch and refuse to hear if there is an issue maybe they could look into it. Very frustrating. Next time ... I delete. More so than the actual glitch the frustration is the poor response.

I like it but I’m slightly confused

I’m basically only using this because I despise Outlook/Gmail email apps and ever since the demise of Newton/CloudMagic and now Astro (my replacement for Newton) email app’s are apparently slim picking’s around here.

1. I wish this was a bit more sleek like Astro. There’s just too much going on on the screen.
2. There needs to be an option to be able to see all of your emails as they come in instead of only bunching them up into clusters of Today, Yesterday, Monday, etc etc. Unless there is and I just haven’t figured it out yet (why the struggle?)
3. I don’t understand where there isn’t a fixed screen view when replying/creating an email. There’s this annoying scrolling and I can’t see what I’m writing in one shot because the text continues to the right. Really weird.
4. Would be nice if there was a text size adjustment. Some people may like the slightly large font size but I love smaller text personally.
5. Why is there no easy way to see sent mail? I want to be able to see my folders and sub-folders created for each email address but this doesn’t seem possible?? Why am I paying $2.99 for premium service if I can’t even access my folders unless I’m moving an email?
6. Just make this a bit simpler without having to go through so much to get to what we need.

Good, it works well but takes time!

For me, I’ve been trying to clean up over 100k iCloud emails. Using Chuck requires two steps. First, delete the groups of senders from the inbox. They will be moved to trash. Then you need to remove them forever from trash. I’ve had to restart the process several times because I went to fast. So my recommendation is that you start with deleting from the inbox. Wait at least 4 hours. Then go into your trash, delete from there and leave Chuck alone for another 4 hours. If the developer has comments or recommendations, I’d appreciate knowing how to improve performance. All in all, it works and he saved me more time than I’d ever have for this task! Thanks!

10 Stars! 10,000 emails cleared in minutes!

This is the first time I’ve felt that 5 stars was not high enough for a review. Chuck is amazing! Not only was I able to delete in bulk, but also unsubscribe in bulk. Saved me hours! I downloaded about 7 other apps and even bought office 365 for Outlook on my computer just to help sort and clear up my emails. Chuck was by far the best.

P.s. So I just proof read over my comments and realized that I sound like a paid bot. But I’m a real person and too lazy to rewrite it. 😄. I was just super happy about clearing out my emails so fast. Thank you so much to whoever created Chuck. I really do love it! 💕

Issues

Update: Wanted to give it another try, but no support for Exchange or Kerio accounts

Previous: I tried this with a Mailstrom subscription, but it doesn't recognize that. Support by a human is available, but that defeats the purpose, which is to make my life easier. App also ignores that I did not give it permission to send notifications: It still displays a badge. (And one can't toggle this in the iPadOS settings.) Given such annoyances, no thank you.
FWIW, Mailstrom itself is pretty good, better than this, just pricey for my needs, especially if you want to process several accounts. One can clean out old mail without the fine-tuning offered here. Just delete all messages past a certain date, sort messages by sender, etc.

Good Upgrade Fixed My Problem & Speeded Up Things

I’ve been using this app for approximately a month now and love Chuck. When I first started using Chuck I was having trouble with my emails downloading. I had to click on Try Again a couple of times before the email would load. Contacted Support a couple of times great response times. Matter of fact I thing these people are robots, they don’t sleep. I would get a same day response at 8 or 9PM PST and I believe their on CST a couple hours later.

With such a high rating Try It. If you like it the Subscription fee is worth it.

31,434 emails removed! 36 unsubscribed! In one day!!

Hassle-free easy fun! Love the color-coded organization and ability to group by sender, subject or time. Also has the ability to clean multiple accounts and devices and cloud storage with ChuckPro. ChuckPro got me down to INBOX ZERO! I was planning to try it out-I never expected it work this well. When I downloaded app on my iPad after having already cleaned email on my iPhone; it cleaned my iPad mail automatically without me having to do anything! I had planned to use the free trial but am keeping paid version because it is so easy to organize and read.
THANK YOU!

The BEST for a messy inbox!

I’ve tried many other email apps but none have come close to this app in helping me clean out my inbox and keep it clean.

My favorite feature has been seeing my emails grouped by the subject line. It makes it so easy to mass delete emails without worrying about missing important ones. Grouping by sender also works very well as most companies have separate email addresses for promo and important.

Even without these killer features this app is a very well designed app and would probably still be my choice of email client.

Wonderful app, but..

I love Chuck... Being able to organize and sort my emails by sender, subject, and date seems like something that should've been considered and implemented into the mail app from the start.. however, I wish I was able to disable/enable accounts so I can go through them one at a time. When all accounts are enabled and I try to move selected emails into a folder, every folder from every email account is listed, and I would like to be able to see only the folder names for the inbox that I'm in. As a result, I have to keep signing out of and into accounts repeatedly..

Best way to clean inbox.

Chuck is fantastic. I used it to quickly mass-clean my inbox of nearly 4,000 old emails on my iPhone.

Some businesses send emails daily which clutters your inbox. Chuck enables you to delete all of the messages from a given sender at one time, with one swipe!

Chuck automatically organizes emails by sender or topic or time. It displays groupings of unread emails by sender, under a single button, and sorts each grouping by the number of unread email messages in that group. You start at the top of the list and can delete hundreds of unread emails from a given sender with one swipe.

Wow amazing

Saw this advertised in my Instagram feed figured I would give yet another email management app a try and assumed I would deleted it after a few minutes. But oh my god Chuck is exactly what I’ve always wanted an email management app to be. I spent 10 minutes and got through 3k+ emails that had built up and I never got to because there was never an efficient way to delete, unsubscribe, move to spam and categorize. Needless to say I signed up for the pro version that is very reasonably priced so I can take care of all 10 of my overflowing emails. Finally a email management solution !!

By

Go pro it is worth it

With or without Pro Chuck is worth it. The reason I recommenced Pro is that it gives you the ability to filter based on subscription services. I love hitting that filter button and being able to wipe away all the daily ads/reminders in one go. Chuck has made clearing out my email a breeze. The only minor negative is that it sometimes looses connection with my email and I have to renter my email and password. Still, that only takes a moment and overall I am really happy with Chuck!

AMAZING!!.......When it works :-(

I had been **cough** neglecting my mailbox for a VERY long time. EPIPHANY!!!, I am going to get it under control. All 400,000 (YOU READ IT CORRECTLY) of them. Enter this app. Amazing concept and makes mailbox wrangling a breeze....but only 5 minutes at a time. App freezes non-stop and I repeatedly have to restart and get back at it. Super frustrating but overall still the quickest way to dump a bunch of trash mail at once.

Also, I saw a previous reply from this app Team saying pretty much all the reported issues “must” be a result of poor connection on the user end. In my case, I can assure that I have a very solid connection at home and the same issue occurs. Definitely a five star app IF/WHEN they are able to update and bug fix.

Awesome! Updated Review (3rd Edit)

I downloaded Chuck because I have several email accounts that are inundated with junk and it's just too time-consuming to go through it so I avoided it. Hoping to regain control of my inboxes a download Chuck. In about two hours working with Chuck I've been able to clear out 15,000 emails from just one of my accounts so far. It groups the emails by sender which allowed me to go through and delete the spam and then comb through the important emails to archive them. Love Chuck!!!

By

Amazing

Chuck is simple and easy to use. However I think it’s also amazing! I had over 4000 emails in my inbox. I kept trying to clear it out, but I’d get overwhelmed and give up after going through 200 or more emails. I got Chuck and within 20 minutes or less my inbox went from over 4000 emails to 249. Which I then was able to go through and now my inbox is totally manageable with little to no stress. Thank you this app developers for making my life a little less stressful, I really appreciate Chuck!
